Do you guys know how to land with traditional publisher in India? Is there a need for literary agent?
Or are they only considering famous people who already have a fan following?

So, this is a part of short story that I published, and now I’m gonna write a full novel.

But before moving forward, I need some real critiques, advices, or how can I improve my writing style. Also, once I’m done with the first chapter, I’ll be sharing it in the communities here.

Any comment will be appreciated!

I self published my first psychological thriller after years of writing it

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my first self published book, The Five R’s.

So, tbh this book took me years to write. I kept rewriting scenes, changing plot twists, fixing pacing issues, and honestly questioning whether I should even continue at times. I originally wanted to get traditionally published, but as a first time author, that route felt almost impossible, so I finally decided to self-publish it in January this year.

The story follows three friends who get trapped in a murder/suicide case after one of their friends dies by suicide, while her lover continues roaming freely. As the investigation unfolds, secrets begin surfacing and the lines between guilt, innocence, love, betrayal, and manipulation start getting blurred.

It’s a psychological thriller with mystery, murders, emotional conflict, hidden truths, and morally grey characters.

Since publishing, I’ve sold around 40–50 copies through Instagram promotions, reviewer collaborations, and a few Meta ads. Still learning the marketing side of things, but I’m proud that the story is finally out there.

I’m currently working on the sequel as well, and hopefully one day I’ll get the chance to go the traditional publishing route too.

If anyone here enjoys psychological thrillers, mysteries, or supporting indie authors, I’d genuinely appreciate you checking it out.

It was a hard journey, but finally I self published my book.

wrote my first book, The Five R’s, and it genuinely took me years to finish. Not just writing it, but constantly rewriting scenes, fixing plot holes, changing characters, editing chapters I thought were “perfect” a week before, and basically losing my mind over tiny details 😭

At first, I really wanted to go the traditional publishing route. I sent emails, waited for replies, got ignored most of the time, and eventually realised that getting noticed as a completely new author is insanely hard. So after sitting on the manuscript for way too long, I finally decided to self publish it this January.

It’s a psychological thriller about three friends who get trapped in a murder/suicide case after one of their friends dies by suicide while her lover is still out there living normally. The story slowly unfolds into secrets, betrayals, manipulation, murders, and a lot of messed-up relationships between the characters.

Since January, after promotions, Instagram reviewer collabs, and some Meta ads, I’ve sold around 40–50 copies. Not huge numbers obviously, but seeing random strangers actually read something that existed only in my head for years still feels crazy to me.

Right now I’m working on the sequel, and honestly I’m hoping maybe this time a traditional publisher notices it before I end up self publishing again lol.
