Completed this book. Definitely a delight to anyone interested in space, science, and its historical developments.

I watched the show when I was little, and it was one of the reasons I pursued Physics. I bought this book a couple of years ago, and it sat on my bookshelf. I thought of it as a collectible, since I'd watched both versions of the show, the one with Carl Sagan and the one with Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

But while rummaging through old books, I decided to read it to refresh my memory.

And boy, was it as wonderful as the first time I watched the show. It was even more thrilling, in fact. I cried a little when I remembered that this was the reason I was doing what I am doing in life.

And rereading the line about the 'pale blue dot' still gave me goosebumps, just like it did when I was little.

The way Sir Carl Sagan went through everything that culminated in making us what we are today felt like a dear teacher of mine was sitting there, narrating the mysteries of the cosmos to me.

This was definitely the best book I have ever read in a scientific context.

It might sound weird, but I literally wept when the last chapters came, and I shuddered in delight whenever I remembered snippets from the show I watched when I was little.

I have been in a bad place in life for almost 2 years now. I am 27. I am working on becoming better. Would like to have some suggestions on books that genuinely helped you find purpose in life?

I’m looking for meaningful book recommendations that explore purpose, direction or figuring out what to do with life.

Not overly preachy/self-help fluff/hustle culture stuff—something thoughtful maybe philosophical or story-driven that actually made you reflect or shift perspective.

Would love to hear what truly stayed with you.

Help me get past my reading slump

Hey guys!

I've recently been going through a reading slump and I have only read 3 books this year. Whenever I have been picking up a book I've lost interest or the will to read without going past 10 pages. The books I did read were usually finished in one day and then for a month or so I can't get myself to read. The problem isn't that I don't have books to choose from, it is that I have too many books I want to read and very little time. This makes the whole experience overwhelming and I eventually end up not reading. Have any of you experienced this? if yes how do I get out of this?

thank you! have a great day!

Opinion on Han kang ?

Korean books are now top translated fiction globally , Nobel Prize momentum boosted attention , I had seen " the vegetarian" movie which wasn't typical mainstream , before I read her novel in 2023, I don't know how I stumbled upon it but I did . At that time I relate to internal conflict more than external chaos.

Reading ♥️

Started reading The Republic.

Socrates has spent 30+ pages basically saying:

“Interesting definition… have you considered why it collapses immediately?"

Where can I find original books at lower prices than Amazon in India?

I want to buy physical books, but I only know Amazon and Bookswagon.

Bookswagon is actually pretty slow.

Are there any legit platforms where I can buy original books cheaper than Amazon? Or is Amazon still the best option overall?

I’m okay with second-hand books too.

Would really appreciate your suggestions 🙏

Help me find my next read amidst a reading slump

Hey! I've recently suffered from a reading slump after reading the Count of Monte Cristo which I absolutely loved. Recently I picked up Tuesdays with Morrie and Small things like these and finished each in one sitting. I'm wondering what I should read next. I love reading literary fiction, classics and mostly fiction that has philosophical or deep themes. I also enjoy reading non fiction usually on math, science, economics and neuroscience. I've been wanting to read more but have a problem of plenty, too much to read and can't decide what to read. Please drop some of your absolute favourites which I will not be able to put down, they can be academic or casual.

Thank you! Have a great day!

Suggest me a book I won’t be able to put down

Hey everyone!

Looking for addictive, easy-to-read book recommendations (not childish, not heavy/academic). I’m 20 and just want something fun, engaging, and hard to put down — something I can read anytime (traveling, bored, study breaks, etc.).

Open to romance, thriller, drama, anything that really hooks you!

Drop your favorites 😊
