New box of hardcovers + bookmarks!

It’s been about a month since launching my science fiction novel and to celebrate I had the same artist who drew the book cover also draw bookmark designs. The male and female soldiers are some of the story’s main human characters while the red alien is the antagonist. I can’t wait to send these bookmarks to readers and offer them at book signings 😄

New Author needs help 👍

Hello guys. I published my first novel a few months ago. It’s a noir crime thriller called My Father the Yakuza.

My previous cover focused too heavily on the Yakuza aspect, but the Yakuza is really more of a background element and not fully representative of the story.

As authors/readers, which cover do you prefer and which one feels more in line with the noir crime thriller genre?

Thanks.

I'm a published author!

My first book ever is out in the world as of today! The feeling is surreal.

Spent 10 years working on this one and it was a journey. But I couldn't be prouder of it as my first work.

It's a psychological horror dark fantasy called The Witch's Son about a witch trying to suppress his magic and the entity inside him that has other plans.

Mission Complete! Book written, dream achieved!

So, it’s been years and years in the making. Iv’e always written for as long as I can remember. At first, only silly little jokes, and then poems, short stories, and a bad attempt a song writing. I began the idea of Grave Matters in college and I took several creative writing classes, but in the end, it just never amounted to a full novel.

I tucked the short stories away for a long while and just lived life without writing but lots of reading. Horror. Sci-fi. And of course, my one true love, Fantasy! The days and nights I spent with Laurell K Hamilton, Mercedes Lackey, Tanya Huff, Rachel Caine, L.A. Banks, Jim Butcher, GRRRM, and so and so on kept my imagination spinning and my interest alive.

A few years I decided to dust off those stories and take another crack. It was touch and go for so many months that I never thought I’d get past fifty pages without running into a dead-end. A writing book of all things led me to the light. Nothing crazy, or weird, or out of touch spacey new age teachings. Just how to outline of all things and plan!

Who knew!

When I finished the first draft such a weight was lifted that it was like a reignition of all my drive to keep going. Sure, there were rewrites to do and edits to be made, but the fact that I’d finished meant everything!

My first book, Grave Matters, was released on my birthday back on January 23. Now the sequel, Grave Intentions, is coming out this Saturday on May 23! The secret? I wrote a book so long I decided to split it in two, lol.

You can find both on Amazon!

Thank you for reading! I’ve had a few sales, but really the marketing thing is tough to wrap my mind around, but I’m hopefully getting better at it.

Keep on writing!

Changed my cover 🫣 1 Before and 2 after…. Plus some stickers I’m trying to make for my book

Hi guys! I was getting ready to finalize self publishing today and felt very unhappy with my cover. I spent all day designing and drawing this cover and I think I’m happy with it.

I spent months designing my old cover. I will included in this post. It’s so weird because creating this cover only took a day but I guess that’s what happens when you practice something. :-)

Let me know which one you like better, but please let it be the new one 🤣

I’m self publishing very soon!!! I will update here when it’s published 🥹💛 in case anyone is interested in my paperback book. Once I save up money, I will be able to pay someone to transform my manuscript into a e-book and offer both versions, but unfortunately, that will have to come at a later date.

I’m just super excited to get it out there in the world, even if I’m the only one who buys it haha

I think I’m going to order a few extra author copies to host a giveaway on my TikTok and maybe that will help bring some orders in. I want to create a sticker sheet with some of the illustrations from my book to include in the giveaway, but I’m having trouble finding somewhere to get custom sticker sheets made.

I’d love to know if anyone’s had luck taking copies of their book into small stores or if anyone has done stickers? 💛

Only 3 free Writer Pro accounts left — writers wanted

I just launched a small writing platform built for writers who want freedom, not algorithms.

I'm opening 3 more spots and giving away free Writer Pro accounts (normally paid).

If you want a place to publish, grow, and connect with readers directly, let me know.

Happy to answer questions in the comments.
l've dedicated over two years to working hard on this platform and the book l've written for it. I've already dropped the prologue and chapter 1, and I'm currently writing chapter 2.

I've chosen four people to give free pro accounts to. I want us to come together and build something beautiful and safe for everyone, regardless of their background. I pay a fee for the site, domain, and other features that
'il be adding soon.

l've added many features that people love, but if there's a feature you'd like to see added, please let me know, and I'll do my best to make it happen. I'm just a young guy trying to help people find a way and make money while doing it. All I ask is that you give me a chance.

Just got my copies!!

Last month I posted on here that I finally published my novella. I had such a great response from the community! Since then I've had a little over 100 copies bought(most during the free promotion), have almost daily KU readers and hit some awesome rating milestones. I've also received multiple fantastic reviews from strangers which is incredibly validating.

It has slowed down a bit since release and I know I should do more to promote it, but that's a whole other challenge that I don't know where to start.

Overall though I've had a very positive experience and just wanted to give thanks for a wonderful place to share. It's been a great community to see others share their work and also continue the fight against AI in this space.

SO THANK YOU!

A box of books! And some bookmarks!

Just two weeks to go until the release of 'The Improbable We Can Do Today', and the first batch of author copies has arrived, which is so exciting! I'm relieved and delighted that they look great.

And I spent a very pleasant hour or two at the weekend successfully avoiding any actual writing of the follow-up by making 100 bookmarks to be given away as freebies with any in-person sales - three designs, one based on the book cover and the other two on artwork of the two main characters. And tassels of course. GOLD tassels. The best kind of tassels. 😆

Glimpse

Uncle Dre marks the first repeat performer from the first Poetry in Motion!

For this piece about a "warrior" we decided to look for a location within our aesthetic that screamed of "hardness" to match the heart of a warrior. We found these beautiful stones that worked out perfectly. His wardrobe too reflects this spirit as he seemingly blends into his environment, becoming one with his "battlefield."

What Genre is my book?

Hello,
I just finished my first book and I’m having trouble figuring out what genres it falls under. I tried researching different genres and books that are similar to mine but it’s been really confusing trying to figure out what genres fit. I would appreciate any help that could point me in the right direction.

My book is called “Mother,” it’s a picture book meant for adults. The book follows the story of one family across 5 generations of women. It shows the development of the maternal relationship and how a mother's desires to do right by her child (and to rectify the pains of her childhood) can be passed down or “twisted” over time. It’s the “ I did everything for you. Why are you not happy?“ mentality.

NOT (Inauguration Day)

The great Nina Malkin recited a slightly different version of this poem every time she performed it! Great for artistic exploration. Scary for editing!

Luckily we had the idea to get a shot of her walking away, her back to the camera, so that we could cover any discrepancies in the editing room! As you could see, it became a saving grace!

Movie magic! And it turned out great!

I'm a Mythpunk Dark Romantasy author and I finally stopped being scared of sharing my work 🦊

Hey everyone — I'm Kayla, also known as Tsuki, and this is my little corner of the internet for everything I create.

I write Mythpunk Dark Romantasy — which is exactly as chaotic and beautiful as it sounds. Ancient mythology, dragons, foxes, found family, spice, and stories that hit you somewhere deep and don't let go.

I've been building the Asteria universe for years. It started with a drawing of a fox girl in May 2017 and became something I genuinely can't stop thinking about.

THE DRAGONSWAN Book 1: Do Vaporwave Kitsune Dream of Technicolor Sheep?

Meet Moon — half kitsune, half Western Black Dragon, seven centuries old, and currently very lost in a world that wasn't supposed to be hers. She woke up with a hole in her memory shaped like everyone she loves.

She didn't ask to be anyone's prophecy.

Asteria had other plans.

This is an adult fantasy romance about ancient soulbonds, found family, dark mythology, and a dragon who's been building an empire for the wrong reason for two years.

WHERE TO READ:

✦ The Prologue is free and public — no account needed ✦ Chapter 1 is free for followers ✦ New chapters, character profiles, lore drops, spicy content and more inside the tiers

🔗 reamstories.com/asteria

WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW:

I'm actively revising the manuscript and publishing on Ream Stories as I go. This subreddit is where I'll be sharing:

  • Book cover reveals and art
  • Character profiles and lore
  • Behind the scenes of the revision process
  • Mood boards and playlists
  • Updates, teasers, and the occasional unhinged author moment

If you love dark fantasy romance, mythology-rich worldbuilding, or just want to watch someone pour their whole heart into a story — stick around. 🐉

Adult content warning — The Dragonswan contains explicit material and is intended for readers 18+

I feel like a fool!

Hello everyone,

I just stumbled onto this subreddit and honestly, I am appalled by how genuinely supportive and great this community is.

I feel like a fool because I’ve spent the last several months trying to bond with abandoned Facebook groups and digging through wonky, ancient Goodreads threads feeling completely isolated.

The activity in this group is revitalizing! I just wanted to introduce myself, JRJ Sellmeyer, the author of The Maw Beneath The Mane. I am absolutely thrilled to learn from all of you. I feel like I have finally found my people!

Just published my second book!!

After spending all of college writing and publishing my first novel, a vampiric civil war novel entitled Legacies of the Night, I spent my senior year writing my first mystery novel, a sacred supernatural thriller called When Death Fell on Ashen Wings. I freaking love writing and creating these new worlds and all the fascinating characters in them.

I can’t find an agent.

So look - I’m incredibly put out. I’ve been working tirelessly on my query letter. Having professionals look at it, editing it, etc. And I really really love my book (I mean obviously, who doesn’t think their own work is the shit - but I really thought, you know?) but no one is interested in representing me.
I’m depressed as fuck. This was my dream. And basically everything I’m hearing from the self-publishing world is that if I go that route, I’m basically doing it just for me and my book will never take off.

I hate this. I want to fucking kill myself. I don’t know what to do.

I did it! After years of procrastinating!

I’d always loved writing stories as a kid. I set that aside when I went to university… but, I started my ‘revived’ writing journey thirteen years ago, with short stories and a short film script. I had ideas, and I let them rattle around too long, so I turned those into stories.

It worked.

I started my first attempt at novel writing back in 2018. I thought I was so cute. Ha! I stalled about 1/2 through. Life got in the way, I got distracted.

Last year, my manager, who I deeply respected got rif’d (let go). It was a wake up call. I can’t be half-assing what makes me happy. I ditched all distractions and wrote on my phone in my spare time, that became Forty-Nine, my first published novel.

Forty-Nine tackles dystopian from the point of view of a young couple in Charlotte at the start of an authoritarian AI regime hell-bent on war with aliens. It was fun to write.

And I’m not done yet, I have an invisible man novel coming out next, as well as a solar punk coming of age, a cozy amnesiac mystery, a sci-fi romance and a series of short stories in flight. Taking that first step was the best decision.

Forty-Nine is available on Amazon, Barnes&Noble online.

I’m stoked that this community exists!

What do y’all use to write/plan?

I am a new author and I’m researching what I can use to write and plan my story. I have researched many options but I wanted to ask y’all what different applications and platforms y’all use? (Ex: Word, Scrivener, etc)

I've Done It!

After nearly a decade of writing, rewriting, shelving it, returning to it, researching, doubting it, and refusing to let it go… I finally hit Publish.

My first short story, The Question Remembers by M.L. Daire, is going live on Kindle this week!

It’s a quiet, reflective story about memory, grief, time, and the questions that follow us through life. The kind of story that lingers more than it shouts.

8,500 words • short read • emotionally atmospheric

Seeing it finally live after carrying it for over ten years feels surreal. 🌑⭐

To every writer quietly working on something nobody else sees yet: keep going.
