Seat Arona 1.0tsi DSG - gearbox fault?

This screeching noise is happening mostly in traffic/hill starts, and stops after 4mph.
Pretty sure it’s the gearbox/clutch?

Only had the car for 11 days - dealer won’t see me for 3 weeks…

Anybody else have this issue?
Safe to drive?

Help please😅

Tried coding something on a newer VAG car and got "Access denied"?

Congrats, you've just met SFD (Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose).

It's an additional security layer that requires authorization between the car and VW's servers. No token, no access. Simple as that.

I first ran into it on a Skoda Octavia IV when I just wanted to enable a couple of basic adaptations via OBD. Connected, entered the control module - denied. Took me a while to figure out it wasn't my tools or software. The module was just locked behind SFD.

SFD is used on cars from 2020 onwards - mainly MQB Evo (Golf 8, Octavia IV, Leon IV, Audi A3 8Y) and MEB platforms (ID.3, ID.4, Enyaq). It blocks adaptations, coding and parameterization.

Tokens are only issued through official accounts to registered users. So a regular enthusiast without dealer-level access simply can't get one.

Have you run into SFD yet? Which module blocked you?

Finally she arrived!

Finally after almost 4 months!

I wanted to share my first milestone with you guys!

Ibiza FR 1.5 TSI

The only thing that bugs me off is that the salesman didn't mention the lowered stance, so I have the default one

Still, I'm happy, already 300km in one week!

Pan roof sun visor

Hello everyone 👋

Here Is my 2015 Leon fr with a possible small/big problem if anyone knows how, so the sunvisor under the pan roof has snapped off the rails on both ends unfortunately as you can see from the picture, I wondered if anyone knew if its a capable thing to do yourself or would it be better paying a specialist to replace or remove, I wouldnt be bothered if it was removed fully but can be handy if I still had it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as its been broken a while and been fine having the roof just shut but the visor is the problem, the motor and pan roof has no problems at all its just if the visor isnt sat right in position then the roof wont shut fully.

I did some research myself but couldnt find any videos on it at all so any help would be great

Cheers and thank you 🙂

Seat Leon Fr maintenance

Hello guys, I’m planning to buy Seat Leon Fr 2017, I found a couple of nice ones, but some of them are 184hp versions other are 150hp versions. So I don’t know which one to chooses, I heard that 184hp versions have more problems, like oil consumption, engine block, water pump and some other. But also that those problems were solved with the 2017 model. But again they told me to go for 150hp version, that it’s better and durable engine. Now I don’t know which one to get, what is the difference in maintenance, what are the problems and stuff like that and is the difference in horsepower really that noticeable?

Ateca Style go purchased! :)

I have just reserved this beauty.

70.000km
1.5 DSG 150hp
Tons of extras
Full link enabled

19.900€ (non-financed price, 17.250 if financed)

The inside of the car especially seems to be like new. I haven’t seen the car because it’s in a different city, and they’re bringing it to mine. The dealer sent me detailed videos.

Thoughts?

I’m interested in buying a cupra 290/300 DSG within the next couple of months. I know about the water pump and thermostat and majority of the main things that can go wrong, but is there anything else I should be checking?

I’m looking for a 2017-2020 model.

Also, one thing I can’t seem to find much info on; does the 300 DSG facelift have the 7 speed or the 6 speed dsg gearbox?

(EU) Flashing check engine light and occassional vibrations after a cambelt change. Is the car finished? (SEAT Leon.)

Hello, i swapped my cambelt a few days ago at a place with decent reviews. However the last time i drove it started vibrating occasionally and the check engine light was flashing for a few seconds when i was going on the highway. Didnt drive it since.

Is the car done for? I am going back to the mechanic shop on monday to see if they can do something about it, i do have a warranty thankfully.

Im in complete shock, ive just owned this car for a month and a cambelt change was getting due.

Hi All!

I have noticed in my Seat Leon 2016 1.4 TSI ACT 150hp (CZEA engine) quite some difference in fuel consumption between cold and warm/hot weather on the same trajectory/tires/tank/driving style. The diff can be sometimes more than 1L/100km.

In addition to that I noticed that the car feels faster. I tried to look online/AI but couldn’t find a convincing answer to my question.

Do you have the same thing ? Does anyone have an explanation ?

Edit: Forgot to mention, the car is tuned to stage 1 and filled up with E5 (98)

I’m trying to sell my 2018 Seat Leon FR technology. It’s the 2.0L TDI 150 with 124k miles but it’s been extremely well looked after and is mechanically perfect. Full service history along with tonnes of receipts etc

It’s currently modified. Has BC Racing coilovers, Keskin Tuning KT22 19” wheels with winter tyres on still, amber DRL, LED flood lights and adjustable short shifter. Oh and a 12” sub custom built under the boot floor

Obviously that reduces the amount of potential buyers drastically. Wondering if it’s worth spending the £700-800 it’s going to cost to make it fully standard again?

Trying to get as close to £7k for the car as possible.

Many thanks guys!

Gauge cluster staying illuminated

Whenever I drive with just my sidelights on in my 2017 SEAT LEON 1.6TDI SE DYNAMIC TECHNOLOGY the gauge cluster dims/entirely switches off. Is there anyway to keep it on like it would do when the full lights are on

Lots of swearing was involved but I was quite pleased with myself for changing this.

It's as though the original was in place for the cars whole 150,000 miles so far 🤣

Baby steps...

Likely a dumb question, but it's mostly so I can back myself when someone questions it. I have the 2015 Leon FR technology (2.0tdi 184ps), and have noticed that mostly during shorter trips, even once the car is switched off and locked, the fans in the engine continue to run quite loud for maybe 5-10mins before shutting off by themselves. The engine doesn't run all that hot, stays around 90 degrees regardless of the journey, so no concern there.

I've pretty much self-determined that the car is doing a DPF regen itself so as to clear out any carbon, especially on shorter journeys, plus just generally cooling the engine down too. But friends and family have questioned it and said it isn't "normal", so I'm just checking to see if someone can confirm my assumption is right? Or if there's something else I should be aware of? I bought it from an MOT and Servicing garage with full service and MOT on it with 0 advisories, so no known issues or anything. Only other thing I can think of is perhaps the water pump? They're a common required fix on these models.

Thanks for any advice

DISCLAIMER: I've never owned a diesel before this, so if this is just the DPF doing it's thing, cut me some slack lol

2012 FR TDI

This car never went wrong in its life. School runs, trips to the airport, high and low moments, it did them all with a steadfast character. I will really miss this car.

Onto new things with the Black Edition Golf R!

Just changed my aging 1.4tsi golf to a 2018 18.tsi leon FR!

Absolutely love it. Done 500 miles in the first week since owning (including the long drive home from buying it). Build quality feels pretty much as good as VW, and it's so nippy compared to the old golf.

She's a little bit thirstier, but will still easily manage 40mpg on a longer journey
