Resigned From ACS Now Working at HHC

I worked at NYC Administration for Children’s Services for 20 years and my last title was Child Protective Specialist Supervisor II. I accepted a job at HHC as a Level II Licensed Master Social Worker, and the salary that I was offered was $85,000 which is significantly less than what I was making at ACS.

My question is, what should my salary be. I left one job one day and one week later, I was at another job. Soon, I will be at HHC for one year and I continue to be paid a starting salary. Is there anything that I can do?

Urgent care NYC PPO

Recently went to a citymd and got a $100 copay and a $50 bill in the mail. Where do you guys typically go for the $25 or $50 copay listed on the NYCE PPO card? Really don’t want to pay another $100 copay again lol

Advice on what city job to take

Hello gang just looking for some advice

I got an interview to be a marine oiler for DEP and then eventually become a marine engineer then chief or whatever

Or I can wait and see if the HR approves me to be a HPPT and I can eventually get my steam ticket and become a city stationary engineer for whatever agency. I even some positions for DEP which is funny enough.

Basically I’m wondering do they both have the same retirement / pension plan? Which one would make me more money in the long run? Less work load better quality of life? Any other stuff I should consider?

Thanks!

What's it like being a DEP watershed maintainer?

Hello,

I'm curious if anyone has and likes this job. I currently have a pretty physical field job with Parks, so I'm not shy to manual labor, though I'm also not the spring chicken I used to be. I like that DEP has jobs upstate, and I'm curious if this type of role has room for growth?

It would be a step down from my current role but I'm looking for a change so I'm okay with that, just seeking some more information about it. Thank you!

Monitor for Remote Work?

Hi, I work hybrid and was given a laptop to WFH with in my first year of work. I’m wondering if it’s possible to get a monitor as well? It’s not exactly convenient working with a small laptop screen for coding.

Any thoughts?

If there’s no resource I’ll just buy one.

Made my 90 days…

I’m halfway through my probation period (Com. Coord title) and was browsing other open positions. I came across a position (at another agency too) that offers higher pay and is way more in alignment with my experience. Is it worth it to apply since I’ve only been with the city only three months? What is the likelihood of my agency finding out I already applied elsewhere? I’m realizing it’s really “all man for themselves” in city positions, so I really don’t want to miss out on opportunities, but again, still on probation.

And many more I may not know of.

Blindside TEMP K 6 Months from NYCHA

I find a listing online for a position with NYCHA they call and I get an interview then the job offer. I finished the process with HR and in the orientation packet. It says I’m appointed on a Temp k 6 month. I thought it was a provisional position because the listing and interview never said Temp rule 5.4.2. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you find out if you took the job? Do they always extend you past the six months to a full year then make your provisional or is this just a stop gap because someone went on leave and they need a short-term body? I know provisional is a temporary position also but you’re not working with a ax over your head with these 6 month contracts you’re waiting for the exam to come out.

Does it get better?

Hey everybody. I just got hired on provisionally and was assigned second shift. This is my first time working this type of schedule and I'm kinda worried that I won't be able to adapt.

Could I request to transfer to a more normal work schedule with seniority or am I stuck with this shift for the foreseeable future?

Anyone can share any insight on this? Thanks

Quality of Work Life Committees

Are all unions meant to be represented within each agency's QWL committees? I'm the only Teamster (Local 237) at my agency, and I'm not part of our QWL team - other unions are represented, but not the Teamsters.

Interestingly, Local 237 does not mention QWL anywhere on their site. Other unions have pages dedicated to the history of QWL and its place within NYC Collective Bargaining Law with information about how to get involved...but not the Teamsters. Is there something I'm missing, or are they just choosing not to publicize this like other unions do? And if my union doesn't even mention it on their site, how can I get involved?

Question about a job post

If you see a position and the closing date to apply is in 3 to four weeks later is it safe to assume that the department has someone else in mind/ it’s an internal hire and the post is just to fulfill some HR requirement? I find it suspicious because there are posts on the website that have been up a couple months or longer and yet this one has such a narrow timeline to apply.

NYCE PPO: Anyone else having delays for user submitted claims?

My first several out-of-network, user submitted mental health claims processed fine, but I now have two claims that have been processing for 51 and 37 days respectively, well beyond the 30 calendar day timeframe the website claims.

Whenever I call customer service they claim they're putting a "priority" on it, but I'm about to just file another complaint with NYS DFS.

Anyone else having lengthly delays with user submitted claims? Specifically for out-of-network mental health?
