I was on oral finasteride and topical minoxidil for around 15 months and saw good progress. ( I started when I was 20, I’m turning 22 soon ) To keep the results going well I also started on 5 % minoxidil on top of the 10% I already used. I did not use it consistently ( maybe 4 times a week instead of seven) . For the last 3 weeks I have been consistent with it , but I have noticed my crown looking particular thin ( the thinning at the bottom of my crown was not there when I started treatment nor at my quarterly check ups) before booking at appointment with my doctor , I just to check whether you guys think this is typical shedding or something else ?
M, 40. I’ve always had a mature hairline, around Norwood 2, but late last year my temples really started receding, and I started to have diffuse thinning at the front. I started to notice lots of hairs in my comb, and decent amount of sheddimg. The first picture shows it at its worst. I think age, genetics (dad is bald), and a period of chronic stress really didn’t help.
As of mid October, I started using topical minoxidil. I initially struggled with side effects like nausea, and dizziness - I consulted a doctor friend who told me to try using it once a day. I actually found I acclimated to the drug within a week, no more sides, and once a day was fine for me.
Within three and a half weeks, I saw little baby hairs awaken. Luckily, I appear to be a strong responder. I also use Waterman’s GrowMe shampoo + conditioner, which has things like rosemary and caffeine - supposedly natural DHT blockers. I’m reluctant to go on fin, I’d rather do things over-the-counter if I can.
The rest of the photos are from today. I know it still looks like there’s recession at the temples (there is, a little), but this is closer to my natural stable hairline all through my 20s and most of my 30s. I probably could start doing min a twice a day.
M46, thinning since mid 30s and with a family history of bald men on mother’s side.
For almost a year I’ve been on oral minoxidil from Minoxidil Express, 5mg/day.
I’ve continued shedding through this whole time and lately it’s become apparent that my hair loss have progressed. Mostly hairline, but the crown is also thinning a lot now.
I feel unsure if I’m a non-responder or if I’ve been scammed. Now weighing my alternatives:
Try to up the dosage? Feels unsafe, especially since I can’t verify what’s in the tablets. Also 5mg is already considered a high dose, isn’t it?
Find a legal source of oral minoxidil? Already tried and it seems very hard to get a prescription in my corner of the world (EU).
Try topical one last time? Expensive, since my skin doesn’t tolerate the liquid and I’ll have to order the foam from outside my country. But I could stomach it if it has a chance of actually working.
The nuclear option? I’m getting close to feeling it would be a relief. I’m very sad to lose my hair, but I also know there are more important things to worry about and enjoy in this life.
Anyone with experience from Minoxidil Express tablets?
Anyone who’ve had better results from topical than oral?
Any other last resorts before I commit haira-kiri?
(Finasteride is off the table, tried it and it wasn’t for me.)
Hello badly need advice. Can someone share there similar experience with me? As you can see, the bald area. Should I use minoxidil? Thank you!
Hey guys, I started using Rogaine foam minoxidil about two weeks ago and ran into an issue I’ve seen others mention — over time, the foam turns more into a liquid. Right now, it’s completely liquid.
I know it’s not a temperature issue because I checked the second bottle in the pack, which was still sealed, and it dispensed foam properly even though both were stored at the same temperature.
Is there a problem with this brand? What should I do?
It’s frustrating that I paid for foam and ended up getting liquid.
Hi guys, So, I was on topical Min for almost a year and by the end I was getting very inconsistent with it, because I was getting demotivated as I wasn't experiencing any progress (or very very little progress) and it was making my hair and scalp extremely dry and flakey. And due to being inconsistent, my hairfall started worsening and the very little progress I made had completely halted. Hence, I decided to switch to Oral Min and started to slowly transition from Topical to Oral Min around December last year (2025).
In the beginning of February, I suddenly started experiencing extreme constipation which later caused acute fissure. I drink lots of water daily and eat a good amount of fibre, there was no change in my daily routine as well, other than me losing some weight. The doctor told the same thing that I've read on the internet, that Oral Min rarely causes constipation, and it must be my routine (food and water intake), but it's pretty much the same since a year. Then the fissure slowly healed, and I upped my dose at the start of April from the transitioning dosage to complete dosage of Oral Min, and after a week or so I started getting constipation again and the pain in my fissure has returned.
I got it checked again, and I'm on medication for now, and am going to do a complete health checkup soon, but it has been bothering me a lot lately.
Did any of you experience it, or am I overthinking it? Oral Min had been surprisingly very helpful and I'm responding very well to it, which is why I don't want to stop Oral Min and test/experiment and see if it is the cause of the constipation. I'm afraid of losing all the progress I've gotten from Oral Min over the past 5 months and cause irreversible damage to my hair :'( Did any of you have a similar experience, or do you have any advice/suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance!
Hello guys,im here to know yall opinions about this problem. Im 19 years old,and a few months ago my dermatologist told me i got androgenic alopeica. Besides my acne treatment and seborrheic dermatitis, she prescribed me topic minoxidil (alopexy 50). I began applying it where i was losing the hair (the hairline). After two months of usage,i texted her telling that i dont see any progress with my hair growth, and she told me to switch to topical minoxidil 5% from kirkland. i started applying it,and within a month i saw some pretty good progress. I saw many baby hairs growing and i was pretty optimistic. After another two months of applying everyday, my hairline was almost completed, barely had a few spots where the baby hairs grew harder, but i knew with time they're gonna get filled with hair. at the beginning of march,i saw some numerous pimples forming on my face almost everyday, even though i was still on a treatment and ever since i haven't got any pimples. Since then,my face is almost full of pimples/red spots, not knowing why. I keep a good diet, i don't eat sugar at all and im using my acne0 treatment. Do you guys think all this its because of the topical minoxidil I'm using? If so,does anyone know what brand or form of minoxidil should i use to avoid all this? (i know my English is bad as shit but hope you understand!!)

For females on oral minoxidil
did it cause hair growth on your face and body? If so, is the hair thick, or fine and sparse, thus more manageable?
I am considering taking it and would prefer oral but I don't want my years of doing laser hair removal on my face (pcos) to be in vain.
I have a special occasion in 3 months, I am 22F with female hair pattern loss or whatever this horror is called, I stopped using minox after great progress and now i am back to baldness.
My question is how can get best results of minox, what should i combine it with? do you recommend other products or tools to use.
