what martin guitar do you think the best all-time?
Tried out a few different guitars at GC and he liked the D10e feel the most in the brief amount of time playing it, but wonder about long playing sessions or size overall. Also likes the sunburst style more so than the solid wood or mahogany color and found that Sweetwater has an exclusive one that looks nice.
About 2 months ago, I played this exact guitar at Gruhns in Nashville and fell in love with it. I downsized 4 guitars and finally ordered it a week ago. Problem is, it just sounds muddy to me for some reason, put some Elixer HD lights on, helped it some. But half the time I cord anything, im getting fret buzz on nearly all the strings unless I press really hard. And I think that may be why its sounding deadish to me.
Taken it to 2 luthiers who are very respected in my area. Both said the same thing, the neck as it sits is completely straight, no relief or upbow, I have low action at first fret. Action is just a little higher than I usually like it at the 12.
They said only thing to do is shave the saddle down to lower the action, but it will buzz even worse then. They say to get rid of buzzing, well have to raise the action even more. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Im an intermediate player, not a pro at all, and I
sing and play full-time for a living, and want to love my guitar again
Just bought the Martin Custom Shop 000-18 2025 from Music Collection Store here in Bangkok Thailand!
It has Adirondack Spruce top and Genuine Mahogany back/sides
Any tips for me? First time All-Solid owner and first time Martin owner.
Thank you for much for this Reddit community 😇
Hi all,
Long time player, looking at my first Martin. I've decided on a 000-28, but I'm wondering if it's worth it (whatever that really means...) to get a 1937 edition vs a standard series. As you know, the CS version is approximately twice the cost. I can swing the cost, but I try not to just throw money at something for no reason. Thanks for any info, tips, advice, etc!
Hello everyone. Martin released a series of guitars based on Kurt Cobain's guitar from the nevermind tour.

Cool.
And they write that it was made on the basis of Kurt's real guitar, which they bought out.
But, if you take a closer look at the guitar in the museum and the photo of the kurt with this guitar, you can see that the guitars are different.
And it turns out that either the martin was deceived and they are not such cool specialists in guitars, or the martin itself fools everyone. What do you think?
Got a great deal on last year’s model at a local shop. A dream guitar I never thought I would actually be able to afford, until the stars lined up and I was able to pick this up, for my 42nd birthday ironically!
Recently added a 2025 D18 to the armoury
Tool quite a while to find “the one” but this is most definitely “it”
Restrung with Retro 13’s and it sounds sublime 👌
Bit of a basket case when I got it, a number of low quality repairs including a huge hole in the lower bout and hadn't been kept in a case so it was super dry. Rehydrated over the course of 2 months or so, and then repaired a cracked top brace and now she sings. Action is a pretty high (~5mm) but doesn't seem to affect intonation too badly. Not a museum piece by any means but I've enjoyed having it!
I got this 2025 000-28 a few weeks ago. Always been a Taylor guy but I can’t tell if I have bad ears or this 000-28 sounds a bit dead?
Should I go get it professionally set up? Idk contemplating a return for maybe a OM-28 or OMJM
Started with a D-RS2, added a Black Mini x shortly after (for absolutely no reason except cheap price). A couple years back I finally got my US made Martin in a 1997 D-17sp, but I was beat up with binding issues, still a beautiful guitar I play daily. Yesterday I picked up a minty 2018 000-18. It was a quick decision, did the deal before I could tell myself out of it.
This guitar is a piece of art, it is everything I ever dreamed about when I bought my D-RS2 4 years ago. I almost feel guilty owning it, I am a very bad guitar player, I enjoy it and work on getting better, but I have no business owning a guitar so beautiful. Someone once told me, never buy a guitar for more than 1k unless you make some kind of money off it. But this guitar brings me joy even when it’s in its case.
Picked this one up used for my 40th birthday and 20th year picking guitar. I’ve been playing more acoustic the last couple years and my beater Fender just isn’t doing what I want anymore. I’ve been window shopping and testing out different brands and models when possible(I’m rural and the closest decent shop is 2 hours away). I was wanting a cutaway model and was down to a SC-13 or GPC-13. This was posted online with no pics at a smaller shop just outside the city so I tested those two again on the way and went to see this thinking I’d come back and get either of the 13s. I was wrong. I fell in love at first strum. My only complaint was no electronics but for the price difference between it and the other 2 models, I can justify the finest aftermarket ones. All told, I am a very satisfied first time Martin owner!
Been a Taylor guitar guy for five years, but fell in love with the 000-18 when I took my son to buy his 000-12e as his first full sized guitar. Had to get a stent put in for a brain aneurysm last week that had a 5% chance of failure/death. Put this in my cart before the surgery and hit buy the moment they moved me to the ICU.
Hi everyone, I posted here a few days ago about this gap I noticed in my 2024 D-28 at the neck joint and got mixed answers. Thought I’d include some more photos this time. I recently had it setup at a local great luthier that I feel like would’ve noticed this or said something about it if it were a concern. I bought this second hand about two months ago and the previous owner lived in the south but brought it to the DMV area.
The guitar plays and sounds great, the action is comfortable and pretty low and there’s a good amount of saddle left as pictured. Just looking for anymore insight possibly. The piece of paper stuck under is as far as it will go in.
Just picked up this 0-15 Special from 2020. All genuine mahogany, short scale and wide nut. I believe these were made for Westside, the sole Martin distributor in the UK.
Sounds so alive! Certainly gives my 1934 0-17 a run for its money.
Never having an all-solid hog always bugged me. My last purchase was in '23, so I thought it was time to make it my first Martin in the process as well. The 000-16 Streetmaster with the aged Ad-spruce/IR nearly hogged my wallet, but I have an OM and a 12 Fret Dreadnought in those woods(albeit both sitka).Besides, the calling of a warm hog tone finally beat the bewitching beauty of the 16's dark back & sides and the wizened lines of the torrefied Adirondack spruce top.
Hey fellow guitarists, thought maybe posting here may do me some good.
I'm trying to sell my Taylor 814ce as I don't use it that much anymore and can use the funds. I've been open to trades and someone offered a trade for the OM-18E + 1000(cad) cash on their end.
I don't know much about this guitar and it seems discontinued so it's been difficult trying to source the price and the exact specs.
Was hoping someone on here has experience with this model and can give me a little bit of information on how it plays & sounds as well as if it's a good trade to make.
I really enjoyed the 814ce for the slim taper neck and how responsive it was to fingerstyle, I had a Martin D28 a little while back and loved how it sounded but found it wasn't all that great for fingerpicking which I do a lot of
Last year, in July 2025, I bought a Martin D-28 Satin.
Here in Europe they’re usually around €3700, but I found one brand new for €2400 because they were clearing out the 2024 version before the updated 2025 model came in. It felt like a rare chance to get a guitar I’d always seen as a long-term goal.
The thing is, I’ve barely played it. Maybe 10 hours total since I got it.
Part of it is life: I’ve got a baby at home now, so playing an acoustic at full volume isn’t always an option. By the time I have some free time, it’s usually not the right moment to be making that kind of noise.
But also, if I’m honest, I’m an electric player. That’s what I actually play and enjoy: blues rock, hard rock, a bit of metal. My main guitars are a Les Paul Standard 50s and an AVII 1961 Strat, and that’s where I feel comfortable.
At the same time, I’ve always liked the idea of having a good acoustic around, just in case, and that’s kind of what pushed me to buy the D-28 when the opportunity came up.
Lately though, I keep thinking about getting a AVII 1951 Telecaster to complete that classic trio. That’s a guitar I know I’d actually use a lot more.
So now I’m stuck with this:
Do I sell the D-28 (which is basically still new and that I got at a really good price) and put that money towards the Tele?
Or do I keep it, even though I hardly touch it, because I might regret letting go of such a great acoustic later on?
