I had a barely used Kobo Clara and the screen broke. I had the official case and just had it in a backpack, but apparently that’s enough to break them. Love and learn I guess, the last ereader I had was a nook and it was bullet proof in comparison.
Customer service only offered me a $20 coupon since it’s a few months out of warranty.
I don’t want to get another one if it’s going to break again.
Is there a better case option 3rd party? I’ve seen the shock resistant plastic outer covered but the screen flap I feel needs to be harder or something.
Thanks!
Here are some photos of the Kobo accessories I’ve accumulated since purchasing the device at the beginning of the month!
The case was purchased from Etsy and has a sliding detachable front cover with a clear back. It was important to me to find one without magnets, as I’ve heard they’ve caused issues for some users. I absolutely love it, but my only note is that it gets finger prints on the front cover very easily.
The page turner was also purchased from Etsy and came with black key caps. I purchased some artisan ones from Etsy as well to spice it up. My only wish is that I could turn off the LED lights under the keys when reading at night. Other than that, I love it!
The puffy case was purchased from Amazon (Canada). I wanted something plain with a good amount of padding to protect the device, and I love it so much. It has a super strong magnetic closure. I was worried there would be a possibility of my Kobo falling out when tipped upside down, but no issues there. There’s also a stylus loop on the inside that goes all the way down the case, which is an added bonus! I originally ordered adhesive pen loops to attach to my case, but this spot is perfect when I’m not suing the stylus and keeps the device itself less bulky without the stylus attached to the outside. The sleeve is a little longer than the length of my Kobo, but I really don’t mind. Overall, another great purchase!
My last hunt was for cute dust plugs. I can be picky and couldn’t find any that I really loved. However, I found some cute charms on Etsy and ordered those along with clear USB C dust plugs from Amazon to make my own. Some of the jump rings that came with the charms were either too tiny to fit in the little hole of the dust plug or didn’t allow the charms to move around, so I bought some jump rings from my local craft store and used those to attach the charms. I had a lot of fun while making these and recommend it to anyone in search of a fun craft night!
I love my kobo, and I’m so happy I’m not buying books on Amazon anymore.
The one thing though is I really miss the qualify of a BW screen vs the Color ones..
It Kobo releases a new Kobo Libra with a BW screen I might have to purchase it and not touch a color screen anymore.
Does anyone else struggle with this? I know Kobo has developer settings - has anyone found a way to minimize the graininess of color screens? Curious because I did my research and I knew it was going to be “worse” but it’s just so hard to get used to it.
Hi everyone! A few weeks ago my Kobo Libra 2 broke and I finally replaced it today with the KLC. I’m gonna buy a new case to protect the screen which wasn’t protected with the KL2. Is it okay if I buy one of those cases with the magnet to remove the screen cover? Because I read it’s not okay to use magnets on KLC, is it true? Thank you!
As the title suggests, I'm looking at picking up a Kobo ereader in the near future. Currently I have a 2018 Kindle Paperwhite, and I want to get out of the Amazon ecosystem. In the past, I briefly had a Kobo Libra 2 (for about 6 months before it was stolen out of my bag), and I really liked it.
I know I'd like the ergonomics of the Libra Colour, but I'm a little unsure about the color screen itself, and also about just how bulky it might get with a case (my previous Libra I used without a case). This brings me to my questions:
As of right now, I don't really read manga or graphic novels on an ereader, but I might start if I have a color device with a large enough screen. What do you think? Kobo Clara BW, Clara Colour, or Libra Colour? And which of them need a case?
Yup. From colored ereader to bw. Im so happy! 🫶🏻🥹
It’s my first e-reader and I love that I can borrow ebooks from my local library. Such a killer feature! I love how light it is. I’ll be using this a ton on my Skytrain trips to and from work. I also can’t wait to bike around Vancouver’s beaches this summer and bringing this along to read while I take a break. Super pumped!
And I love it! I bought the clara BW 2 years ago when it first came out and it was my first ereader and I loved it. But lately I found myself wanting the physical buttons, colorful highlights and a bigger screen so I upgraded to the KLC. I'm so happy with my purchase and while the screen is darker and grainy, it doesn't really make a difference to me and I love the form factor with the colour screen. I'm so glad I upgraded!
I never really heard of a Kobo Sage before. I had my Kobo Libra Colour for a year now and as i was scrolling thru Facebook, I saw someone who's selling their Kobo Sage. After having a colored ereader, I've longed for a bw one. LOL.
Soooooooo, i super love love love the Kobo Sage! I love reading Manga on it too. I can annotate on it. 🫶🏻✨🥹
Photos in the lowest and highest brightness. I'm currently reading In the Clear Moonlit Dusk. 💕
Superb RIGHT??????? 👀
I've read for more than 10 hours and battery was stuck at 34, so I restarted it to see whether it was stuck. Now it is 52% after the restart, with no charging. Is this normal?
Hello, I have recently switched to buying my manga on the Kobo app as I will be switching to a Kobo Libra Colour for my manga reading (I will deal with my Kindle later). I tried to follow a bunch of guides on Reddit saying to use the Obok DeDRM plugin in Calibre, but that doesn’t exist anymore, and I really want to have my manga files ( ACSM ) downloaded so I can read on my Android phone turned reading device. So basically my question is: what is the best way to open the Adobe file you get when downloading from Kobo so I can input it into Calibre and own at least my manga and comics?
How durable are Kobos? I really want an ereader but want to hold out on buying one until the next updated device comes out. In the meantime, I’m debating a Clara Color to test out how much I’d use it and want to try Kobo+, with the intention of giving the KCC to my almost 7yo once I get the upgrade as I know she’d love it but she can be clumsy. Anything I should be cautious about with my kid having one? How’s the internet browser access? Parental controls?
I am running koreader and I haven’t played around with any settings yet so I don’t know if this can be corrected by that.
Anyone else disappointed at the “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!” When it was just two covers? 😂😂😂
Is there a reason a lot of people here seem to prefer the white KLC over the black? The white is 10€ more expensive at the retailer I'm planning on doing my purchase with (our postal service is still on strike so I need to go buy it physically) and I can't find a reason for it. I've also seen a few posts saying they bought the black one then traded it in for a white one. I genuinely want to understand so all explanations are welcome!
Just like the title states, I'm curious about who exactly I would be purchasing from if I were interested in buying a book through Kobo. Is it straight from the publisher? The author? Surely not Bezos, right?
Kobo has great annotation features and just wondering how you used them.
I Haight a section I find particularly insightful, because of it was written in a clear and powerful powerful way.
Or I highlight something that I find particularly relevant today from a History book that makes me think.
I might write something in the marinas of the authored doesn't mention it a lot, such what year it is inn the current story.
How's do you highlight or annotate?
