Backup camera malfunctioning

2016 Transit 350 XLT has an issue where the backup camera cuts out constantly or doesn't come on at all. I've tried looking it up online but I don't have the settings, that I can find at least, in my Transit to reset the camera or any changes other than "delayed start"

We've owned the vehicle for a couple months and it's been like this since we got it.

Extra info: Just hit 180k miles, reman engine installed 600 miles ago, no reported accident, no obvious damage from any accidents and no check engine lights.

Thanks in advance!

Low voltage warning

I have an aftermarket inverter installed that I forgot to shut off on a Friday. Monday morning my voltage was down to 12.2 before turning the van on. The van started and ran fine and voltage came up after driving for a few days. It’s now at 12.6 when the engine is off and 13.9 when running. That seems back to normal but a low voltage error still pops up when I turn the van on. Any ideas when this will go away or is this still low?

Update: it turned itself off. Voltage has been the same for a couple days so maybe there is a delay. Going to be more careful with running the inverter.

AWD ford transit - does roof height and wheelbase matter off-road?

I’m planning to buy an AWD Ford Transit and would love some advice from people who use theirs on rough roads.

I need an AWD or 4WD vehicle for work, so off-road capability is important. I’m trying to figure out how much the roof height and wheelbase actually affect performance on dirt roads, washboard, ruts, sand, and moderately rough terrain.

I’ll be living in the van full-time, so I’d strongly prefer a Transit over a truck. I’m 5’4”, which means I can comfortably stand in a medium roof.

I’m not planning on doing any crazy off-roading, but i need to not get stuck in the middle of the desert.

Thanks!!

DIY Brake pads and rotors change - 2016 Ford Transit Wagon 350 XLT

Watched a video online and it seems pretty straightforward with the right tools. Wanted to ask here if anyone has done a similar repair and if there were any tips and tricks I needed to know before starting.

Rust? Best Years to Buy (used)?

Hello,

I am a Chevy person. I am going over to the dark side in order to build my camper van on a Ford Transit because I want the high top, and sadly Chevy doesn't do a high top express.

I know all vehicles rust, and I will be spending most of my time in a snowy climate, so rust is inevitable. I'd like to buy something that I can get sprayed with a protector to minimize the bottom rusting out.

That being said, can you please point me towards the best resources for figuring out what years were better than others to buy? Not just for rust but for other things as well.

Basically, please point me towards where I can learn more about how to pick the best van within my price range $20-25k. Bonus points if it talks about rust because I'm really worried about having a rusted out Ford!

I’m in the uk (hence the right hand drive) and I recently got a 2021 Ford transit custom and it had this locked thing at the bottom of the centre console. Neither the dealer or any garage I’ve taken it to knows what it is or how to unlock it - it was a third party addon by the previous owner and there’s no key for it.

Does anyone here know what it’s for or how to open it?

We sent our work van to a shop for an oil & filter change, as well as the brakes (a warning came up in the dash). This is their work proposal for what they say needs done. Im not a mechanic by trade, but I've always worked on my own vehicles. I can't see why we would need new rotors and brake system flush at only 28,000 miles, versus resurfacing the rotors for about $30 each. And a $400 battery?! What is your guys opinion on this? Thanks in advance

Hello,

Im in the market for my first van. The market in Seattle is crazy high for AWD vans. However I found this 2022 with 60k miles and talked them down to 33k. While test driving it, I pulled over and inspected the underside and found quite a bit of rust. Most looks like surface rust. However its quite a large purchase and im not looking to waste my money on a lost cause. I was just trying to get some other opinions.

Thank You.

Looking at a local dealer-listed 2019 Ford Transit Connect XLT cargo van with about 56k miles. Asking price is $19k.

It’s 1 owner, clean Carfax, and listed as personal use, not fleet..

I’m going to test drive it next week. Anything specific I should watch out for on these? Common problems? Transmission issues? Things to check before buying?

Would you guys still get a pre-purchase inspection even with a clean Carfax?

I have a 2016 Transit 148 mid roof Passenger Wagon.

I will be doing a no-build for this year and make plans for next winter full build.

It has all the interior trim and uninsulated floor.

since there is no insulation anywhere I do plan on sound dampening the walls and insulating walls as much as possible and floor with a simply closed cell covering (not a snow chaser - Will have heater)

By question at this point is when I remove the plastic wall coverings, will I be able to re-use the plastics (trimming as needed for minimal connection points)? or Should I plan on rebuilding the interior and not using the plastics?

I don't plan on tearing it apart until I build so any insights are greatly appreciated.

I have a vintage 73 Ford MK 1 transit connect ambulance imported from west Germany. My paperwork shows a different VIN number than this “vehicle No.” Is there another location on the vehicle I’m missing that has a VIN number? Or is this it? Thanks 🙏
