I’m planning to buy an AWD Ford Transit and would love some advice from people who use theirs on rough roads.

I need an AWD or 4WD vehicle for work, so off-road capability is important. I’m trying to figure out how much the roof height and wheelbase actually affect performance on dirt roads, washboard, ruts, sand, and moderately rough terrain.

I’ll be living in the van full-time, so I’d strongly prefer a Transit over a truck. I’m 5’4”, which means I can comfortably stand in a medium roof.

I’m not planning on doing any crazy off-roading, but i need to not get stuck in the middle of the desert.
