Ice in SeaTac Village

Scumbags kidnapped a man today and wouldn’t let us reach out to his family. I fucking hate this country. Happened at 10 am outside of Trader Joe’s/ Home Goods.

Flag policy up for discussion tonight!

There is going to be a Flagg policy discussion tonight, May 12th at the Parks, Recreation, Human Services, and Public Safety Committee meeting at 5:00 p.m.

They had decided last year to ban the flying of any non official national, state, or city flags on city property. This was done specifically to avoid continuing to fly the pride and Juneteenth flags at city hall in June. Now the city council is realizing this also bans them from putting up banners on 320th to promote the city during all the fifa promotion.

The discussion tonight is decide if they want to bring it to the regular city council meeting next week.

Agenda here: https://docs.federalwaywa.gov/WebLink/ElectronicFile.aspx?docid=2376377&dbid=0&repo=CityOfFederalWay

There is public comment at the beginning of the meeting, with the actual discussion happening at the end. You can watch live from home on the city's YouTube as well.

Who Is The Best Personal Injury Lawyer in Federal Way?

Hey all, hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Last month I got rear-ended on 320th near the mall. Some guy in a lifted truck wasn't paying attention and slammed into me at maybe 30 mph while I was stopped at the light. My Civic is totaled and I've been dealing with neck and lower back pain ever since.

The insurance adjuster from the other driver's company has been calling me almost daily trying to get me to accept a settlement. They offered $4,500 to "make it go away quickly." My buddy who works in construction told me that's basically nothing and I'm getting lowballed hard because I don't have a lawyer.

I started chiropractic care two weeks ago and my doctor is now talking about possibly needing an MRI. Bills are already piling up and I'm missing shifts at work because I literally can't sit at my desk for more than an hour without my back locking up.

I've been Googling personal injury lawyers in Federal Way and there's like 50 of them all claiming to be the best. Some have those flashy billboards on I-5, others have the cheesy TV commercials. Honestly I don't know how to tell who's actually good vs who just has a big marketing budget.

A few specific questions:

  1. Did anyone here actually hire a PI lawyer in Federal Way recently? Who did you go with and were they responsive?
  2. Should I be looking for someone local to Federal Way specifically, or is it fine to use a firm based in Seattle or Tacoma?
  3. The insurance company keeps pushing me to give a recorded statement. My gut says don't do it but they're being super pushy. Anyone been through this?
  4. How does the contingency fee thing actually work? Is 33% standard or can you negotiate?

I really don't want to get screwed over here. This wasn't my fault and now I'm the one stuck dealing with pain, missed work, and a wrecked car while the other guy's insurance company plays games.

Any recommendations or war stories would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

South King County Transit Town Hall (May 13th from 6-7:30pm at Highline College)

Given the financial struggles Sound Transit is facing, there has been talk of cutting the Boeing Access Light Rail stop as well as Sounder improvements in South King County. As a result, some hard conversations are being had about the future of Sound Transit expansion in our region. The Sound Transit Board will need to make tough decisions on what projects to prioritize, as well as ways to cut costs to deliver the projects promised to voters.

Transportation Choices Coalition (TCC), along with the Build The Damn Trains coalition, has organized a series of town halls across the region intended to give folks an opportunity to hear from decision makers and to help educate the public on what is happening with Sound Transit. These events will feature board members and staff, the folks who make decisions about the future of light rail, answering questions in a structured format, and are open to all.

This includes one at Highline College, Building 2 on Wednesday, May 13 from 6-7:30pm, featuring Tukwila Mayor Thomas McLeod and King County Councilmember Steffanie Fain, along with opening remarks from King County Executive Girmay Zahilay. You can sign up using the link here.

Hey all, so I haven’t been to Wild Waves in years, but since they’re shutting down I kinda just gave in and grabbed their season pass deal. Ended up getting lots of passes for the family.

I’ve been looking at reviews and it’s all over the place… like some reviews are great and others sound kinda rough. So if you’ve been recently, what’s it actually like right now? Anything I should be prepared for or avoid?

And yes, I will be taking advantage of the unlimited day visits since it’s not far at all for my family.

https://www.theurbanist.org/federal-way-councilmember-frames-pedestrian-safety-crisis-as-needing-darwinian-solution/

Remember when FW was looking into making a pedestrian overpass over 320th a few years ago? I feel like when the light rail station was first announced there were some lofty ideas about making the area more pedestrian-friendly and now we have a bunch of half-baked solutions that are not great for drivers or pedestrians. Probably because we have very unserious leadership.

I saw what I am guessing is a camera on the BPA trail this morning. This is on the east side of the 1st Ave crossing. It wasn't there when my friend and I walked the BPA last weekend. I'm wondering what it is for. It doesn't look like the set up is permanent.

After all the hype surrounding the new Dave's Hot Chicken in Federal Way, I took my family there this evening, expecting at least a decent fast-casual experience. What we got was a harsh reminder that restaurants live and die by their customers and tonight's visit was utterly unacceptable.

I knew we were walking into a glorified fast-food setup, but nothing prepared me for the lackluster execution!

The food? A greasy parade of fried "everything" that launched a direct assault on our arteries. The chicken arrived buried under a monotonous, heavy-handed sprinkling of seasoning that delivered far more salt than spice or flavor. It was a double whammy of excess sodium and grease that maximized the assault to cholesterol levels and blood pressure with zero redeeming taste to justify it.

I'm genuinely struggling to find a single positive about the meal that might tempt us back for a second try. None comes to mind.

The environment didn't help. We sat at a table with a spilled sugary drink pooled underneath and a strange sticky residue from previous diners still glued to the table. We promptly alerted the staff, who assured us it would be handled right away. Forty-five minutes later, we were still stewing in that sticky cesspool; not a single employee bothered to wipe it down.

The restrooms were even worse: just two single-occupancy stalls serving a constant stream of customers. They were foul, smelly, and completely out of soap. The Department of Health might want to add this location to their inspection list.

Service was virtually non-existent. After picking up our order and tasting the overly salty fare, I realized we'd forgotten to grab water. I politely approached the counter for a simple cup. To my astonishment, I was brushed off like a beggar asking for a handout. The young staff member (a skinny Asian lady) informed me it was "corporate policy". No cups for water! She suggested that I'd have to rejoin the 20-minute line and pay another $4 for a bottled water or sugary drink, despite having just dropped nearly $100.

In all my years dining across North America, I've never been refused a glass of water. This isn't some budget operation on the other side of the Atlantic; it's a restaurant in Washington state that should know better. This is textbook nickel-and-diming.

When I expressed my disappointment to the staff lady and mentioned it would prompt a review, she simply shrugged, gave me a fake smile and wished me a "great day" which as wel all know is the universal code for "go f*** yourself."

Federal Way has several solid fried chicken options, including the standout Super Chix near LA Fitness. Any of them would be a vastly superior choice over the disappointing travesty that is Dave's Hot Chicken. One and done. This experience highlights exactly why customer feedback matters: ignore it, and even the hottest new spot risks becoming a cautionary tale.

Looking for a safe and calm spot that doesn’t get super crowded and always has parking. I really like lake wilderness but am looking for something a little closer.

Hello! I'm looking for some spots in or around the area that are very beginner friendly and safe for 2 boys under 5.

I'm wrestling with the idea of fishing docks so id generally feel more comfortable with bank fishing, preferably without large drops or fast moving water that could eat my children.

They are both real stable on their feet but the 2 year old likes to *evil laugh sprint away* and a flat relitively wide buffer zone to play defense is preferable. 🫶

Thank you very much 😭

We're open to traveling a bit too!
