I am fairly new to 40k and painting minis in general. I want to start a necron army and to have them be frozen/freshly disentombed. I think that the image here (I know, ai pics bad) is how I want to do Imotekh, (since he's the only overlord I know of that uses a gauntlet of flames) but I have no idea how to paint him like that, let alone how to get that big air bubble in the epoxy around his gauntlet. Any advice is appreciated.

Edit: I do not plan on doing this myself or any time soon, and when I do, it will be a decorative piece not a playable one.

Edit 2: Y'all, I understand how impossible of a task this seems like it would be for a newbie like myself. I would seriously pay someone to make this for me if it comes down to it. Thank you everyone for the advice, especially all of the "Don't" messages lol that really hammered it in that this project is beyond my current capabilities.

Metallic epoxy floors after almost 4yrs

Last 4 pics are recent but weren’t planned for showing the floor per se. Basically 1500 sq.ft. is our ground floor (hydronically heated slab on grade) with Leggari metallic epoxy and gloss top coat without grit additive. Has held up great in spite of a lot of finish work and not removing boots or shoes as I’ve gone in/out… plus LOTS of Seahawks watch parties this last year on our march to the SUPERBOWL.

Quick edit note - first 4 pics were from initial pour and seal; next 4 are anecdotal pics during the last few months. We’re traveling at the moment but wanted to share some pics after a lot of LIFE and how well the floors are wearing.

I'm getting bubbles in my epoxy projects they're all pretty similar to this. More details below but can anybody tell me what might be causing this?

I'm clearing out about a quarter inch of space and then filling it up about halfway with epoxy. Each time I do this I keep getting bubbles and I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of them. This epoxy is even supposed to be bubble free so I'm sure it is user error this is my first few times working with epoxy.

According to the directions I'm supposed to mix part a and b for about 3 minutes and then mix in the color powder. I've tried using a heat gun but I ended up making the epoxy smoke and I still couldn't clear the bubbles beforehand. I tried a small torch but as you can see and the green epoxy that also did not work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using pine wood that I have burnt and then just now sealed with the green one before I poured the epoxy. I sealed it and let it sit for a few days and then I poured. At first I was thinking air bubbles from the wood coming up.

Will epoxy cover these filled in grout lines?

Trying to figure out if I should make these lines less noticeable somehow before putting epoxy over it, or if it will cover okay. The grout lines have been filled in with wood filler..

Help! First epoxy flooring job on plywood and I don’t know what went wrong!

This is for a job site office in a shipping container. The floor is made of heavy duty plywood. I sanded it down, filled the cracks and screw holes and have laid two coats of Sherwin Williams Macropoxy 646. The picture attached was taken about 20 minutes after the second coat (baseboards will be replaced).

The container is 320 square feet and I have put 2 kits for each coat. Each kit is supposed to cover 300 square feet but it feels like I still need way more material.

I have done epoxy coatings on concrete before but never on wood.

How do I fix this?

Request for Pics of Older Epoxy

Looking to get floors done with metallic epoxy. I've had 2 vendors explain the cons to me, but they're unable to provide pictures to illustrate how epoxy scratches and wears easily. Does anyone have pictures of 5-10 year old epoxy flooring jobs? Especially pics of a residence with pets, but anything will do

Best way to prevent leakage here?

I want to fill this area but there are no crisp flat edges and being ply i cant do a lot to flatten it out, what are my best options ?
Ideally it would work to get everything taped, clamped and stuck down and use a cotton bud to wipe around the edge with vasaline to fill the gaps but no idea if that will actually work??
Second to that i could do the same with wood filler and let it set in place but messier and longer..

Edit: Its worth a mention that the facedown side will be the display side once finished so it needs to be somewhat easy to clean up or cover over

DIY Job completed

Moved into my new house and did the acid etching as it was “new concrete.” Epoxy has some learning curves for sure. But I bought a solid kit since I didn’t watch to cheap out. Spent about $1200 CAD from magic resin. Got the poly for topcoat. I found the flake distribution difficult but overall I am happy with it. The topcoat is just settled and has very high gloss so there are some marks on the floor when looking as it didn’t “self level” as much as I hoped.

I used carbon black and dark grey chips in my own mix 70-30% 30 pounds had very little left over.

Overall I am happy as a first timer. Just looking for other opinions or feedback from any mistakes. I was very careful not to over work the topcoat and only used a squeegee east to went and then back-rolled.

My AI friend says I did solid, but now I bring it to the real tough judges of reddit.

Questions from a diamond tool manufacturer: What is your biggest headache with current diamond grinding tools?

Hi everyone, I work on the manufacturing side of diamond tools (diamond segment, grinding cups, polishing pucks&pads). I’m not here to sell anything—I actually want to make our products better for the people using them every day.

In your daily work, what drives you crazy about the tools you currently use?

  • Is it the lifespan (they dull too fast)?
  • Is the "bond" too hard or too soft for your local stone?
  • Is it the safety/vibration?
  • Or is it just that prices have become ridiculous for the quality you get?

I’d love to hear your honest frustrations...

P.S. I’ve been in the diamond tool manufacturing industry for a long time. If you have any questions about how these tools are actually made, the 'insider secrets' of the industry, or why certain tools fail, feel free to ask. I’m happy to pull back the curtain and help you guys avoid getting ripped off.

2 component floor paint fuck up

We are coating the floor in our bakery with a 2 component epoxy system: Vistapox 4000 Keramiek.
Yesterday around 16:00 our contractor accidentally applied ONLY component B (hardener) to the floor. No component A was mixed in.

The layer was fairly thin and spread over a relatively large area. It is now about 20 hours later and the floor is still tacky/sticky and clearly not curing properly.

We still have:
• 2 kg component A
• 2 kg component B
So technically enough for one properly mixed coat.

Our question is:
Is there any chance of saving this by:
• lightly sanding/scuffing the surface
• then applying a properly mixed A+B coat on top TODAY
Or does the uncured B layer need to be completely removed first?

The floor currently:
• looks mostly absorbed into the substrate
• not puddled
• slightly sticky/tacky
• no major liquid spots
Has anyone dealt with this before with epoxy systems?
Trying to understand whether this is recoverable or if we are heading toward full grinding/removal

Follow up to plant post

This is what I am looking to preserve once I have finished the piece , I understand water is epoxys worst enemy jus wondering if anyone has any ideas.

If I coated everything with a few coats of clear coat lacquer then cast it in epoxy , do u think that would work?

VOC file still lingering in room after almost 3 weeks

Fumes I meant. 3 weeks ago I tried making something with Epoxy resin, didn’t do my research well before doing it, let it cure in my bedroom, and it filled with heavy VOC fumes. I managed to contain this to just my bedroom.
The rest of the apartment is fine.
The fumes gave me a headache, dizziness, and odd feeling in my throat. I left my window and balcony door open with a fan blowing out for the first week, returned and nothing much has changed. I rented an air scrubber with an activated carbon filter and left it running for 6 days. The air seemed cleaner but than after an hour I had a reaction to it. I’ve thrown out the mattress, and rug. Removed all my clothes and literally washed them 3 times. Now almost 3 weeks later I go back and still having a faint reaction inside the room. I hired an air quality specialist just for them to tell “yes, there is gas still in the room” they recommended a restoration service who will come in with hydroxil machine. Do you think this will finish the job once and for all?

Epoxy floor installed in basement — bubbles, texture issues, and hard debris chunks. Professionals, is this normal or a bad install?

Had an epoxy floor installed in my basement this week by a licensed contractor. Two rooms — kids playroom and home gym. Total cost $7,000.

Before starting, the contractor mentioned the concrete was softer than expected and that vapor could come up through the slab. He applied a thick black base coat to address it, then came back the next day and applied the color coat.

I noticed bubbles forming during the base coat application. Now that it's cured I have:

A rough, pitted texture with tiny marks across the entire floor

Several hard, jagged black chunks embedded in the epoxy that appear to be concrete debris from prep/grinding that wasn't cleaned up before coating

Overall uneven, cloudy appearance

My questions for anyone who installs epoxy floors:

What likely caused the widespread bubbling/pitting texture?

Is the concrete debris/hard chunks a normal occurrence or a workmanship issue?

Is this a fixable situation or does the floor need to come up entirely?

Would you consider this an acceptable finished product?

Photos attached.
