2 component floor paint fuck up
We are coating the floor in our bakery with a 2 component epoxy system: Vistapox 4000 Keramiek.
Yesterday around 16:00 our contractor accidentally applied ONLY component B (hardener) to the floor. No component A was mixed in.
The layer was fairly thin and spread over a relatively large area. It is now about 20 hours later and the floor is still tacky/sticky and clearly not curing properly.
We still have:
• 2 kg component A
• 2 kg component B
So technically enough for one properly mixed coat.
Our question is:
Is there any chance of saving this by:
• lightly sanding/scuffing the surface
• then applying a properly mixed A+B coat on top TODAY
Or does the uncured B layer need to be completely removed first?
The floor currently:
• looks mostly absorbed into the substrate
• not puddled
• slightly sticky/tacky
• no major liquid spots
Has anyone dealt with this before with epoxy systems?
Trying to understand whether this is recoverable or if we are heading toward full grinding/removal
