Decided to grow my hair out again, any great smelling product recommendations?

First photo is my hair currently, last photo it what I started off with. Other photos are to show my progress during that time. I flipped the order around so you know how long my hair is currently.

Got most of my har chopped off during quarantine and stayed like that for years because it was easier to manage. Decided over a year ago to finally start growing it out again because I miss having my long hair and this is my progress so far. I was wondering if any of you have any “holy grail” curly hair products that smell really good? My hair products already smell good to me but I was wondering if I was missing out on any other good smelling products!

My current routine is:

Camille Rose Guava Slip Detangling Hydrate & Cleanse All Ages Shampoo

Camille Rose Honey Hydrate Leave In Conditioner

Camille Rose Spiked Honey Hydrate & Shine Hair Styling Mousse with Honey & Nettle Root

I brush my hair in the shower after applying the shampoo, then I wash out the shampoo after a few minutes and brush again. Then I apply the mousse and leave in once I get out of the shower by scrunching it into my hair. I then diffuse my hair upside down with a diffuser for about 2-3 minutes and lastly I scrunch it with a T-shirt upside down.

All my life I have been treating my hair as if it were straight. But I am starting to question it. See story below

All my life I have treated my hair as if it were straight as that is what I believed it to be. However, I’ve had some experiences where now I’m starting to question if my hair is truly straight. The above pictures are how I normally let my hair exist. I do braid my hair every night before bed. I don’t let my hair air dry as I hate morning showers and because of the length it’s just messy however, when I rare occasion when I do let it air dry it is much straighter, but still a lot of frizz in a bad way that I don’t like the look of it. (I also use a generous amount of leave in conditioner) so I believed it was straight. Because of the braiding, I assumed that’s just why my hair is the frizzy condition that it is. However, I keep having instances that make me question what my hair actually is. The first time I truly ever really questioned it was when we took a vacation last year to the ocean. Two separate times we went swimming in the ocean and all my baby hairs were curly. Because of the length of my hair it is easier for me to keep it up whenever I go swimming, so I have no idea what the rest of it looked like. After a day of swimming and seeing my baby hairs like that, it was quite cute, (see vacation photo - I have no photos specifically for that as I didn’t really think anything of it and just was staying in the moment sorry!) but I waved it off as if it was just the mineral content of the water and a fluke incident (both times even though they were both a days trip away from each-other lol). There have been a few times since where this has been happening and I keep brushing it off. However, to cut to the chase, I had yet another experience in my baby hair being so wavy and curly that it pushed me to make this post. My baby hairs looked as if I used my curling wand that day, even though I haven’t used the curling wand in about three years. I did not take a picture as at that time because I was not convinced yet to reach out for some possible help. So I come here to try to set the record straight and clear the air if I have not been treating my hair the way it’s supposed to be treated lol. Maybe Im just crazy. please be kind! Any recommendations for products to try would be appreciated if anyone out there think I may have wavy hair.

To answer requested questions for posting not covered in the above

Routine: wash hair 1-2 times a week

have used so many different shampoos/conditioners/leave ins and never really stuck with any, garnier, hairitage, L’Oréal, sexy hair, Marc Anthony, are a few I can remember

Towel dry briefly unwrap carefully and add leave in conditioners as the brand above

Let dry briefly

Braid

Gel recommendations, that have a strong hold and took your waves/curls to a next level definition wise?

I love the definition the curl jelly from Humberto Giannini gives me, but my hair looses the definition quite quickly with this one.

Does anyone have gel recommendations with a strong hold that gives a lot of definition?

I have fine 2b hair (high porosity I think)

My routine now is just a random wash and conditioner, and then when my hair is damp I use the curl jelly and let it air dry.

I sleep with it in a loose bun or ponytail.

Curls keep flying to the side in wind or when I run :-(

First photo shows what happens when I run or there‘s strong wind outside. I‘ve styled my wet hair with mousse and it‘s still not very fixed in place and moves around on the sides.

Should I just use more mousse or distribute it better or maybe cut the sides and top more to avoid this from happening?

Routine:

I interchange the mousse products but generally go for stronger ones and airdry my hair when I have enough time after the shower.

Every second day I don‘t shower and just wetten my hair and apply the mousse.

One of the mousse products I use:

Balea‘s volume mousse

I have no idea how to manage and style my hair

I'm biracial (South East Asian/White) with a 2-3 curl pattern (curliest on top, wavy in the middle, straightest at the bottom). My hair is quite thin, dense, dehydrated and likely high porosity. My mother never bothered to learn how to manage my hair as a child so l've just straightened it almost everyday since to avoid her bullying me about it so its veerrrrryyyy damaged...

I've tried many different routines and products in the past (Shea moisture, cantu and umberto giannini) but currently I don't have a routine ㅠㅠ l've looked at tutorials and asked people and honestly at this point it's either a skill issue, I'm dumb or both 😭

Depending on how I style my hair, will depend on what the result is. I found that sometimes, if I let it air dry and then blow dry to finish off, it can have nice uniform defined curls with volume (50-50 chance), if l've tried using my fingers and products... it has ended with not great curls and just a wet mess (I don't like the wet/greasy curl finish look on me because there's no volume or definition).

A coworker who told me about mixed chicks products and explained some of the products that could help but I've also seen Marc Anthony and miss Jessie's multi cultural cream but I honestly don't know what products to try...

It’s time for my curls to be voluminous and healthy so any product or styling suggestions and help are greatly appreciated! Thank you~

Before and after getting my split ends trimmed

first photo - pre cut no products

second - pre cut with my usual routine

third photo - right after i left the salon

routine - wash twice a week with cantu curly shampoo, apply Camille Rose curling custard while still wet (pat off excess), then air dry or diffuser dry depending on how much time i have.

I don't know what to do.

my hair feels really thin in the shower. It definitely wasn't like this even a few months ago. I've tried some products (cream, new conditioner, shampoo, hair oil) but nothing has worked.

routine - wet and shampoo twice, brush after shampooing and apply conditioner for 5 minutes. pat dry and apply the cream. diffuse until slightly damp and apply hair oil. air dry.

products - head and shoulders 2 in 1

aussie curly hair conditioner + leave in cream

aussie sos hair oil

diffused then air dried until completely dry

Loving my new short, asymmetrical bob

I have rarely had short hair because it always ends up looking like a q-tip, but I have a stylist now who is doing great things with it, mostly because she razor-thins it like crazy with every cut. I'm loving this asymmetrical bob she gave me a couple of weeks ago.

Routine: I'm still using Kinky-Curly Knot Today and Curling Custard as leave-ins, and diffuser or air drying. I used to try to get away with second day hair a lot, but this dries so fast I just shower / conditioner / rinse every day. Shampoo (also Kinky-Curly) every five days or so. Microfiber towel for ten minutes before drying with diffuser.

How do I get tightly bunched curls like this guy?

https://preview.redd.it/3n7bxue7pjug1.jpg?width=1977&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=599ae7376624501ae75df081f0713715f9768bd8

Pretty much the title.

I absolutely love this guys hair, it looks so perfect! How do I go about getting nice neatly bunched curls like this guy has? Especially at the front, mine are are longer and 'stringy' plus I find that the more I try and 'work' my hair to get it curly it just ends up becoming frizzy instead.

Currently my hair routine is wash every other day luv ur curls sulfate free shampoo and a argan oil spray leave-in conditioner. I don't use any styling products currently but I have used boots curl creme in the past when I had more time. Any advice is really appreciated, thank you :)

Need tips!

I have thin, curly/wavy hair. I'm trying to "glow up" in the hair department and feel good about how I look when I leave home. I like how my hair looks on a wash day, and sometimes even the next day, but I'm at a loss on how to style my hair so I look "put together" between washes. Currently usually just throw it up in a top bun with the frizz poking out every which way, just a generally messy look. HALP!

Current routine: Blonde moment not your mother's shampoo, curlsmith conditioner, curlsmith cream, dry with diffuser. Wash approx 2x/week

Should I dye my hair?

Hey everyone! I'm posting on here because I'm pretty confused and just need some advice. I really want to dye my hair a cherry red/purplish colour. My hair right now is a dark brown. I've seen so many people say that dying your hair ruins your curl pattern especially red dye, and it never comes out, and it's so much maintenance. Idek if im supposed to use box dye (apparently it's bad for curls) or go to a salon which is more expensive. And if I do go to a salon what do I even ask for so they don't mess it up?

I genuinely have wanted to dye it for so long but I'm just scared of messing up my curls. I've been taking care of them for months and avoiding straightening and they've finally gotten more defined so I don't wanna ruin all that progress.

Any advice or knowledge would be so helpful.

Routine:

Wash hair twice with palmers coconut shampoo twice a week

Condition with palmers conditioner and let it sit for 5 minutes

Rake in umberto gianni curl cream and scrunch, then scrunch in cantu jelly custard

Diffuse until dry

Scrunch out with oil

I do a pineapple then wear a bonnet to sleep.

I usually don't need to refresh until day 3/4, and when I do I don't really know what to do then either (I just spray with water and hope for the best)

I have high porosity hair, my area uses soft water. My hair type is 2c/3a.

My hair is always frizzy and idk what to do. i need help reviving it!

My hair is always frizzy, even when there is leave-in conditioner in it (As I Am) such as in the photo, and i genuinely don’t know what to do about it at all and its super annoying, i use bonnets and it doesn’t really do me any good, I even dry it with a microfibre towel. Anything you guys know that I could do to help it free from frizz??

My current routine is:

As I am leave in conditioner applied first, about a loonie sized amount.

Second, shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie aka a curl cream.

Third, shea moisture “FRIZZ REDUCING” mousee

Then i diffuse my hair and put argan oil in to crunch the product cast or whatever

Also i wear a satin bonnet as i said before when i go to bed

Would it be possible to transform my curls from this to the second image?

u/blissdlosu — 13 hours ago

Does my hair look messy styled like this?

Normally I would let it air dry (no products) with a middle part, but i’ve been trying to experiment a bit with parting my hair differently and also styling. I was trying to do a slight side part but it’s not very obvious.

Routine: Put heat protectant and LOHY hydrating gel in while hair is wet and brush through, then redefine curls w/ water and scrunching. Scrunch hair w/ towel and then put in LOHY volumising foam. Diffuse (hover and then pixie diffusing). Break cast w/ hair oil.

(sorry idk all the brands)

I feel like it just looks kinda messy and thin (transparent almost???), even though people have always said my hair is very thick. I did make it kinda frizzy because i was messing around with it a lot afterwards, but idk if that’s really the issue.

Maybe I just feel like it’s messy because of like internalised stigma or smth…
