All my life I have been treating my hair as if it were straight. But I am starting to question it. See story below
All my life I have treated my hair as if it were straight as that is what I believed it to be. However, I’ve had some experiences where now I’m starting to question if my hair is truly straight. The above pictures are how I normally let my hair exist. I do braid my hair every night before bed. I don’t let my hair air dry as I hate morning showers and because of the length it’s just messy however, when I rare occasion when I do let it air dry it is much straighter, but still a lot of frizz in a bad way that I don’t like the look of it. (I also use a generous amount of leave in conditioner) so I believed it was straight. Because of the braiding, I assumed that’s just why my hair is the frizzy condition that it is. However, I keep having instances that make me question what my hair actually is. The first time I truly ever really questioned it was when we took a vacation last year to the ocean. Two separate times we went swimming in the ocean and all my baby hairs were curly. Because of the length of my hair it is easier for me to keep it up whenever I go swimming, so I have no idea what the rest of it looked like. After a day of swimming and seeing my baby hairs like that, it was quite cute, (see vacation photo - I have no photos specifically for that as I didn’t really think anything of it and just was staying in the moment sorry!) but I waved it off as if it was just the mineral content of the water and a fluke incident (both times even though they were both a days trip away from each-other lol). There have been a few times since where this has been happening and I keep brushing it off. However, to cut to the chase, I had yet another experience in my baby hair being so wavy and curly that it pushed me to make this post. My baby hairs looked as if I used my curling wand that day, even though I haven’t used the curling wand in about three years. I did not take a picture as at that time because I was not convinced yet to reach out for some possible help. So I come here to try to set the record straight and clear the air if I have not been treating my hair the way it’s supposed to be treated lol. Maybe Im just crazy. please be kind! Any recommendations for products to try would be appreciated if anyone out there think I may have wavy hair.
