I think it’s tonsil stones but he doesn’t have health insurance/dental coverage and I’m not sure if it’s worse.

(the photo is of him asleep) thats their appereance when dried out, its the pair of white lines what I’m talking about. He had braces and unfortunately besides my efforts he is not good with dental hygiene. Are those cavities? thanks.

I think I may have gum disease. Is there a way I can reverse it? Please read added body text.

I think I may have gum disease. Is there a way I can reverse it? Please read added body text.

One of my teeth feels slightly loose and I can wiggle it a bit (teeth next to the big teeth on the right). I also noticed my gums are starting to look a bit recessed, and it’s honestly really worrying me. I’m scared of losing my teeth. Unfortunately, I can’t afford dental treatment right now. I’ve been trying to take better care of my oral health by flossing daily and switching to a softer toothbrush and less abrasive toothpaste.

White patches on tonsils – not sure if tonsil stones?

Hey everyone,

I noticed a white patch on my tonsil area, one slightly bigger spot and a few smaller ones. After looking it up, I thought they might be tonsil stones.

But here’s the thing: they didn’t feel hard like people usually describe. They were kind of soft.

I tried gargling with salt water, and one of the smaller patches disappeared. It left behind a faint white mark on the surface. The bigger one didn’t go away though, so I gently used a Q-tip to massage the area. After that, the lump-like part reduced, but there’s still a visible white patch on the skin.

So now I’m a bit confused, could this still be tonsil stones, or is it something else?

Has anyone experienced something similar?

I added before and after pics here 🙂

Can this tooth be saved? I already treated it twice and it still hurts.

Can this tooth be saved? I already treated it twice and it still hurts.

This is a wisdom tooth that I kept because I lost my first molar as a child. Treated twice until now and this is the last X-Ray from 3 weeks ago. The second time only the roots were filled, in case we decide to open it again.

The pain never stoped after getting the RCT. It wasn't very bad but the tooth never settled so we didn't place a crown. My dentist says it's not cracked and can't explain the pain. I went to an endodontist and she said she wants to retreat it but doesn't gurantee success. I already invested 2k euro to try to save it and I'm expecting to pay at least 2.5k more. I would really like to keep my tooth but at this point I have doubts.

Tooth pain 4 weeks after cavities being filled

Four weeks ago, I got 4 cavities filled. Two on the bottom left, one on the bottom right, and one on the top left. During one of the fillings on the bottom left, I had severe nerve pain while drilling despite being completely numbed and not being able to feel her poking anything else. After the fillings were done, I was still in pain. I also notice gum inflammation and bleeding only under the teeth of the cavities that got fillings. I’ve been back twice now and they said the fillings look good. I got more X-rays and they said that they are fine. They also said that there is no need for a root canal and that my bite is fine. I am still have significant pain tho. I have pain with drinking and eating and sometimes just from having my mouth open to air. It is also all intense nerve pain that lasts on teeth on both sides of my mouth, so I am having trouble pin pointing the exact tooth causing issues or if they messed something up. They told me to wait another two weeks and call if I still have pain. Need other opinions as I’m not sure what to do. Thanks!

Switch from MD to DMD

Hello - I'm a third year med student who has struggled but improving (I failed my step 1 board), and as a result am delayed to graduate and potentially start residency. Without going into too much detail I was also accepted to Dental school this fall. I'd finish 2 years before I finish a residency (likely IM/EM/FM/Psych). Without debt being an issue (my md debt is low and my dmd program will grandfather me into the pre BBB rules), I'm debating on making the switch.

I'm wondering if dental school is as difficult as medical school and if life is better after school as well. In medicine all the ROAD specialties are essentially on-par/slightly worse than the dental lifestyle.

This is not admissions related or pre-dental related as I'm already accepted to a program

Advice on root canal tooth; getting mixed opinions

Hi, so for about 3 years my 3rd back tooth on the bottom right (sorry don’t know names) has been causing re-occurring issues, this is on part because of me having bad dental hygiene previously (ADHD, bad mental health & bad situation, it’s better now and my teeth are looked after) and another having a dodgy dentist do work on this tooth. I’m now with an excellent dentist who has managed to save to tooth, to this point and has done a root canal but we are at the step now waiting for it to all settle before putting the crown on and it’s starting to hurt again. She told me as long as it’s not constant pain, only with certain foods and isn’t swelling etc. she said if it keeps hurting or gets worse, she’ll definitely not be putting the crown on until it’s sorted and may choose to go back in and make sure there’s no chance of infection but it’s probably still settling (I’ve had the permanent filling done for about 4 months) but my mums friend is also a dentist and mentioned this and she said it should definitely be fine by now and probably needs to be completely redone or the tooth can’t be saved and needs to be removed? She said because of everything and how long this tooth has been causing issues, she would just remove it at this point because the gums and jaw are likely damaged too. This all sounds so dramatic to me but I’m not sure if it is still just going to be painful randomly if I can handle that? I also have been diagnosed with TMJ by my sleep specialist recently so I don’t know if that’s interfering with my filings/root canal treatments too and putting pressure on them when I sleep?

Please help. This is all very expensive and as someone who is already paying so much for my chronic illnesses/disabilities I need to make the right decisions.

Indirect Pulp Cap Pain - Normal?

I haven't been to a dentist in a couple of years and two of my cavities ended up being deep enough to need an indirect pulp cap and it's my first time ever having them.

Tooth 1 (pulp cap done about a month ago) had extreme pain and throbbing after like the tooth was going to jump out, but has gone down significantly in pain unless I eat something hot/cold and then it lingers for a while. It was originally suggested to do a root canal, but they decided not to after seeing the tooth.

Tooth 2 (pulp cap done about 2-3 weeks ago) had a regular filling about a month ago, but then I started getting radiating pain and I ended up getting it redone with an indirect pulp cap and dental dam. This tooth occasionally hurts when I chew down on food.

I drank extremely hot soup about a week ago and my pain has been growing and radiating in both teeth, although I can handle the pain and sleep since it's on a 5-6 on scale of 10 at the worst if I don't eat or drink anything. Both teeth hurt when cold air is blown on it and at the surrounding gums.

I'm wondering if I'll definitely need root canals and if the pain is normal because of how close the filling was to the nerve so sensitivity is inevitable for a couple of months. I would like to save my teeth if possible, but would rather get the root canals done now if this type of pain is abnormal. I don't think my dentist is overtreating, but I do currently go to a low income dentist so all my treatments are free. I do not drink or smoke.

TIA for the advice!

Suicidal after extraction without informer consent.

My upper molars 2:7 and 2:6 were extracted plus an extreme amount of bone between them. 2:8 were already gone. I feel my life is completely destroyed.

There were no informed consent. No explanation, no questions about my health record or dental history, no explanation about risks and no plannning for implants.

I hesitated to go, but then did and said I wanted to cancel. The surgeon became furious and shouted. I cried. Said I was suicidal and wanted to take my own life with my teeth. He became even more angry and finally I whispered yes.

My life has been the darkest nightmare ever since. I bite on the resisting teeth 24/7 and my tounge can’t rest. Lots of emale on them are already gone. I have severe lingering pain in my eye and I have trouble eating, speaking and breathing. My over lip and chin hurts when the remaining teeth cuts into them. Every night I wake up several times and scream and the moment when he extracted them is on repeat. It has been 3 months.

I can’t afford going to doctors, dentists etc to help me now. The person who did it have closed the case.

Have you heard of any scenario like this? What shall I do do you think?

Sincerely

Different dentists telling me different things

Hello there,

I’ve had the same dentist my whole life (20 years) and never had a problem. Due to scheduling issues 2 years ago I had to go to another dentist; that dentist told me I had a cavity I needed to get removed, I found it weird but still scheduled a date to have it filled ( which I had to cancel). I went back to my original dentist and when I asked about said cavity, she said that I don’t need to get a fill and that all was ok; she didn’t understand why the dentist wanted to fill it. No mentions about it the next 3 visits

I went back in January, and turns out my dentist retired and sold her location with everything to a new company. When I got tended by them for the first time, they immediately said I needed a fill, not one but two on 2 separate teeth. I found it weird seeing as less than 3-4 months ago my teeth were fine as stated by my original dentist. My cousin who also used to go to my original dentist, was able to see our old dentist ( who is retired) and asked her about the new company, seeing as everyone in our family got a cavity out of nowhere with this new dentist. Our old dentist stated not to trust them and to find a new one.

So the questions stays, should I get my cavity filled or not? I trusted my old dentist so much, but with this new dentist constantly calling about getting my tooth filled idk.

What do you all think?

Tooth Infection/Gum abscess still creating puss 3 days after root canal

3 years ago I had a root canal. Couple months ago the crown failed and an infection formed and I had an abscess form on the gum next to the tooth which would build up fluid/puss then express itself every day or so. 3 days ago I saw an endodontist who cleaned up the root canal, put medicine in the tooth, and sealed it back up. The abscess is still filling up with puss. Should this have subsided already, or should I give the antibiotics (Amoxicillin) more time? Thanks.

Getting 6 teeth pulled in two days, freaking out.

I just don't know what to do, I am an extremely anxious person, I have panic attacks so bad I get heart palpitations.

Over the last month I've had 8 fillings, and an impression done for the upcoming extraction. During the fillings I was just extremely anxious and shaking a lot from the adrenaline.

I've had extractions before but I was sedated with a crushed pill for that, this place charges $1000 for their sedation so they offered laughing gas.

I don't smoke weed because it gives me panic attacks so I'm not sure the laughing gas is a good idea and I just don't know what to do.

The teeth being pulled are 6 front teeth, which I read is easy because they are single root, but two of them were broken years ago and may need to be drilled out and again, I'm freaking out.

I just don't know what to do, I can't focus or function correctly because I'm just such a wreck, I've been shaking and freaking out for days.

I handled the fillings well but the thought of my teeth being pulled out is driving me insane and when I taste blood or hear a crack my hearts going to go into overdrive.

and again I can't do weed because it gives me panic attacks so how am I going to handle laughing gas, I am constantly feeling my pulse and my heart beat anyways so when it gets forcefully slowed down I'm going to panic.

I'm just so scared.

How can I fix my slanted teeth?

How can I fix my slanted teeth?

I absolutely hate my smile. My teeth are “straight” but they’re slanted. My top and bottom teeth don’t aline. Did my orthodontist do this? Is it just the way I’m built? Can I do something to change it or make it look better? I’m getting married next year and I’m so insecure.

I smoke marijuana some. I have had braces from ages 7-10 and then 11-14. I had an expander in the beginning.

Reposting bc I forgot the pic. So sorry!

Edit: I’m so eager omg sorry

I am currently 22 and go to dental cleanings every 6 months and wear my retainer 3-7 times a week.
