Advice on root canal tooth; getting mixed opinions

Hi, so for about 3 years my 3rd back tooth on the bottom right (sorry don’t know names) has been causing re-occurring issues, this is on part because of me having bad dental hygiene previously (ADHD, bad mental health & bad situation, it’s better now and my teeth are looked after) and another having a dodgy dentist do work on this tooth. I’m now with an excellent dentist who has managed to save to tooth, to this point and has done a root canal but we are at the step now waiting for it to all settle before putting the crown on and it’s starting to hurt again. She told me as long as it’s not constant pain, only with certain foods and isn’t swelling etc. she said if it keeps hurting or gets worse, she’ll definitely not be putting the crown on until it’s sorted and may choose to go back in and make sure there’s no chance of infection but it’s probably still settling (I’ve had the permanent filling done for about 4 months) but my mums friend is also a dentist and mentioned this and she said it should definitely be fine by now and probably needs to be completely redone or the tooth can’t be saved and needs to be removed? She said because of everything and how long this tooth has been causing issues, she would just remove it at this point because the gums and jaw are likely damaged too. This all sounds so dramatic to me but I’m not sure if it is still just going to be painful randomly if I can handle that? I also have been diagnosed with TMJ by my sleep specialist recently so I don’t know if that’s interfering with my filings/root canal treatments too and putting pressure on them when I sleep?

Please help. This is all very expensive and as someone who is already paying so much for my chronic illnesses/disabilities I need to make the right decisions.
