ADT Reduce Monthly Bill

If you call to cancel your service at ADT, even if you are in a contract, they will call you and offer a much lower monthly bill.

these guys are fucking scammers

had to fight these fuckers to replace my battery, which is barely a year old. sensors only worked for half the year. they wanted 160 for the battery and 59 for the servicer charge. mind you this equipment is 1 year old. when I asked the service rep how long the batteries should last, they said 2 years. then why is mine dead 50% of its supposed life?

got them to credit me 160 and replace my sensors that weren't working.

to cancel id have to pay 800!!! this shit should be illegal! I dont mind the contract, IF THEY ARE PROVIDING THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY PROMISE. they use 3rd party installers so they need to ignore as many customers as possible.

Just went through this today and wanted to document it for anyone else in the same situation.

Background

Signed a 36-month ADT contract in January 2023 through an authorized dealer (Safe Haven Security Services). Monthly rate $63.99. Contract ended January 2026 and I've been month-to-month since, meaning zero early termination fees.

What happened when I tried to cancel

  • Called ADT to cancel and requested the dealer and installer codes for my Qolsys IQ Panel 4, which I legally own per Section 5 of my contract
  • Rep couldn't help, said they'd call back
  • I had successfully used the dealer code (2222) earlier that same morning
  • Within hours of my cancellation call, the dealer code stopped working
  • Called back — rep confirmed a note was on my account but couldn't tell me who changed it or provide the new code
  • No online cancellation option exists, no written method, can only cancel by phone during business hours

What I did

Filed complaints with the FTC, the Alabama Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, and the BBB simultaneously. Left 1-star reviews on Google, Yelp, and Trustpilot. Replied to ADT's social media publicly. Emailed their Executive Response team at alwaysthere@adt.com with two specific asks: the dealer code and immediate Alarm.com account release.

Result so far

Got a response within hours from ADT's Executive Response & Resolution team. Waiting on follow up within 24-48 hours.

What I'm replacing ADT with

Full local setup — Home Assistant, Frigate NVR, Zigbee sensors, Alarmo. No subscription, no cloud, no one has remote access to my equipment.

Update: They claim they didn't change it, but they reset the code and provided it to me. I can now access the dealer settings to enable third party connections and connect to home assistant. Now I don't need to purchase non-proprietary sensors and whatnot

The Google AI Pro / ADT "Subscription Collision" is real—Here is how I’m fighting their $750 exit fee.

I’m a Pixel 10 Pro user with Google AI Pro. I’ve discovered a permanent subscription Collision' where ADT’s legacy software is architecturally incompatible with flagship Google Home Premium accounts.

My experience:

  1. Safety Breach: Smart locks didn't work for 7 days post-install, leaving my home unsecured.
  2. Admitted Negligence: My ADT rep officially documented that the install was 'professionally deficient.'
  3. The Trap: ADT is demanding $750 to cancel a non-functional system.

I just sent a formal Notice of Intent to Arbitrate citing the April 2026 DOJ Settlement ($1.26M). If you're a high-end Google user stuck in this same 'collision' loop, let's connect for a mass arbitration effort!!!

The new ADT plus base sound is so low even all the way. How can I add my old Lifeshield keypad and Lifeshield base to my ADT plus set up? Maybe as a z wave?

Siren power requirements?

Does anyone recognize this siren and can tell me what it needs to power it?

I have an old Impassa 9057 and a few window sensors have started to deteriorate - they crack during battery change. The quote from ADT to have someone come replace them was a bit out of my price range so I want to buy like 3 replacement sensors online and do it myself. ADT mentioned they don't make these sensors anymore and would use Honeywell but I'm having trouble finding Honeywell 433MHZ sensors online and am not sure what other brands to trust. Could anyone provide a link to something you've used that worked or a store you trust? And anyone who's done this, if you have any tips, I'd appreciate it!

I had a 3 year contract with ADT that I terminated early due to selling my house and purchasing a new home.
I immediately started the cancellation process and signed a new 12 month agreement for different services at the new house to save myself money ($700 cancellation fee). Was promised that the cancellation fee would be waived and it would never be charged.

I was charged the cancellation fee after about 5 to 10 different confirmations that “you will not be charged blah blah blah”

Have now been working on getting that refunded for a few months. Finally made some progress and once again multiple people with “account services, billing, etc.” guaranteed the charge would be reversed on 5/6. Woke up to ANOTHER charge for the same amount instead of refund. So now I’m $1400 in the hole to this scam of a company. Bank has been notified, where do I go from here?

Hey! So I have the ADT control app and then Google Home as a separate app.

My question is.. is there a panic button in the adt control app that I can get to using my smart phone?

Thanks!
