Switched from Zepbound to Foundayo 11 days ago - here's what the experience actually feels like so far

I know 11 days is nothing but i want to post this while the experience is fresh because I couldn't find honest early accounts when I was researching background: 8 months on Zepbound, switched to Foundayo for maintenance two weeks ago the obvious stuff: no injection day anxiety, no site rotation, no fridge, just a pill with my morning coffee the less obvious stuff: the hunger feels slightly different.

It's not worse just a bit different, the Zepbound suppression was more blunt.

This feels more subtle food noise is still quieter than my pre-medication baseline which is honestly all I needed to know GI side effects at 0.8mg have been minimal , less than my first weeks on Zepbound by a significant margin i'll post a proper update at 30 days but wanted to share something real for the people currently researching thiswhat questions do people have that I can actually answer from experience

GLP-1 Experimentation Is Everywhere, and Science Can’t Keep Up

"So much of the experimentation with GLP-1s is happening outside of traditional research models, careful clinical trials and even the health system. Given the immense popularity of these drugs, regulators and the medical establishment need urgently to figure out how to best capture and keep pace with the experiment. Otherwise it risks spinning out of control," writes Julia Belluz, a contributing New York Times Opinion writer.

She adds:

>Times Opinion asked the polling company Morning Consult to survey over 2,000 adults who have used GLP-1s. Before getting the results, I suspected that the reality of taking the drugs would be messier than the triumphalist headlines. The drugs can have unsavory side effects, most frequently nausea. Many people stop taking them because of those side effects and, perhaps even more so, cost and insurance barriers.

But the survey respondents were enthusiastic. Sixty-five percent of current or past GLP-1 users said they were “very interested” in continuing to take the drugs. More remarkably, 63 percent said that if their GLP-1 failed to help the condition it was initially prescribed to treat, they would either “definitely” or “probably” keep taking it for other benefits.

One week in with 1.5 mg and I’m feeling it

I started taking the Wegovy pill last Saturday morning. (The morning routine works for me - I get up to get my kid ready for school, walk with them and then get something to eat). One the first day I had gas and still some anxiety around food. By the second day it felt like the cravings had started to dull. I’ve had tons of gas but I’ve also been paying much more attention to what I’m eating, so I’m taking in a lot more fiber (hello), water and protein. I’m also careful to eat throughout the day without any large gaps (I tend to get food related migraines).

My eating feels far more intentional each day that passes and there’s very little desire for impulsive eating. I feel like I still do crave foods but my sweet tooth has drastically reduced (I used to joke that I could not go a day without chocolate and that you could get “state secrets” out of me with them.) I had that experience yesterday at the grocery store where I walked past the impulse purchases and went straight to the food I came to buy because they’re part of my list of what I *need* to eat.

As I sit here typing I’m halfway through an egg and vegetable sandwich and I already feel full. I’m not paying that much attention to the scale because I feel it’s too soon and a person’s weight can fluctuate by up to six pounds from day-to-day. I’m just amazed to have a front row seat to how this medication really does work! I’m content with taking this slowly. Severe reactions from symptoms worry me more.

I’m overweight, not obese but have several chronic illnesses (migraines, high cholesterol, post menopausal weight) that I’m hoping this pill will help with and that’s the central focus of me - felling better. I hope everyone does well on this medication and that it can help them !! I plan to be on this for the long term 🤞🏼

University of Pennsylvania researchers using AI to analyze reports of GLP-1 side effects on Reddit (reproductive issues + temperature changes)

Hi everyone,

I am posting this across multiple GLP-1 subs to spread awareness and to hopefully reach anyone experiencing similar symptoms. Apologize for the length in advance!

I just came across this article this morning on sciencemag.com that discusses how researchers at University of Pennsylvania are now using AI to scan through thousands of reddit posts on GLP-1 subs to gather data on currently unknown (as in backed by scientific study) side effects such as (female) reproductive issues (irregular periods and pelvic pain) and body temperature changes (hot/cold flashes).

Because female reproductive systems are often the last thing to be studied, there are no current studies done on the link between GLP-1s causing reproductive issues. The only connection made so far has been weight loss = good for menstrual cycles and reproduction. There does also seem to be an understanding that increased weight loss can cause irregular cycles and pelvic pain. However, nothing is currently proven for these issues to happen within the first few months of taking GLP-1s before significant weight loss occurs.

This feels timely for my own experience. I just took my 7th injection of Wegovy last night (3rd .5mg dose) and have been experiencing some pretty serious reproductive side effects since my 5th injection such as: a now 2 week delayed period and severe pelvic pain. I myself have been using reddit to desperately find anyone else going through the same thing. I have contacted multiple providers (the ones through Ro who prescribe it to me, primary care, and have an upcoming appt with my Gyno) and have been gaslit about these symptoms. Being gaslit my medical providers is nothing new because I have PCOS and endometriosis. The response I've been getting about these new symptoms is that it must be due to my previous medical issues. However, as most folks w these specific issues well know, my body is highly monitored and any little deviation is noticed. Before starting Wegovy, I lost 50lbs and regulated my cycle (every 32 days) for over a year with very predictable pelvic pain only during ovulation and leading up to my period. The only recent change has been starting Wegovy and I know this is the cause of my new symptoms. I'll be taking this article to my appointments from now on!

I am a researcher myself and openly not an AI supporter, so I'm not sure how I feel about that aspect of this research but I think that's perhaps another topic for another time. What this research does reveal is that Reddit is being looked at as a sample size and reported symptoms here are being monitored.

This article is not a scientifically proven study (yet) but it does bring hope to see that researchers are currently paying attention to these issues and those of us that have been experiencing them can feel some relief that we aren't making it up!

TLDR: University of Pennsylvania researchers are scanning GLP-1 subreddits for reported symptoms for at least female reproductive issues (irregular periods and pelvic pain) and body temperature changes (hot/cold flashes). Have been experiencing irregular periods and pelvic pain myself and been gaslit that Wegovy doesn't cause this. Article is not scientific fact that this is the cause but it's hope!

Feeling affects after first dose

I’m new to Wegovy. I was on Mounjaro last summer but stopped due to bad side effects but i did manage to lose about a stone (14lbs). I have gained a bit of weight back due to moving and stress at work but i’m looking to do it properly this time. I wanted to go on Wegovy because I heard it’s slower and less side effects. I did my first jab at about 9am this morning and its currently 4pm the same day and I feel like I a feeling the fullness already. Is this possible? Am I being Placebo’ed??

Waiting on my medication

This is my 3rd month on Wegovy and so far I've LOVED the experience, the membership and the effects.

However, my refill for this month - which is supposed to be injected TODAY - is on at 7th day of "being processed" so I reached out to customer service to check in. I was told the pharmacy had placed my prescription on hold as they had questions regarding the dosage, and that my healthcare provider would be reaching out to the pharmacy to get it sorted.

No timeframe was given to me in which they'd "sort out" this issue and no one from their team had reached out to let me know about the pharmacy hold proactively. They only advised me of this after I had reached out due to the lengthy processing time.

I replied, asking for a timeframe as I'm not crazy about the idea of missing a weekly dose and now their app and website are not opening up for me / not functioning.

Anyone have any tips for help in getting my pen quickly this month? Have y'all missed weeks before? Finally, is the app functional for y'all? TY!

Not getting texts from Novocare?

I've been trying to get a prescription for Wegovy to go through with Novocare for over two weeks now. My doctor contacted them and said he gave them my cell number, but somehow the number they got was my mother's (probably my doctor's fault tbh). My mom eventually forwarded the link in the text message to me and I filled out the forms, making sure they have the right phone number now. A week and a half went by and I never heard from them, so yesterday I called them and asked if something was wrong. Turns out they were still trying to use my mom's phone number. I got them to change it to my number, and they said they would send me the payment link through a text message. It never came, so I called back today, confirmed that they have the right number, and asked them to send it again. They say they resent it, but I never got it. I ended up making the payment over the phone, and they said that I was going to get a text message confirming the payment. That never came either.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you fix it?

The pill: What happens if…?

I’m a little nervous about how strict the directions seem for taking the pill. Morning, empty stomach, 4oz of water or less, wait 30min-2hrs before eating or drinking.

What actually happens if you don’t follow each of these to a T? I’m just curious.

Mounjaro / Wegovy switch

Hi everyone,

I started Mounjaro about 6 weeks ago and I’m down 10kg so far. I’ve got 2 injections left and I’m thinking ahead about what to do next.

Mounjaro has been working really well for me, but I feel like I’m at the point where I need to move up a dose. The only issue is cost - it’s pretty expensive in the UK, which has me considering switching to Wegovy instead.

For anyone who’s switched from Mounjaro to Wegovy - how did you find it? I really like the appetite suppression and lack of food noise on Mounjaro. Does Wegovy feel different in that sense, or pretty similar? Did you feel like anything was missing after switching?

Also, what’s the actual process for switching? Do you need a washout period between the two, or can you go straight from one to the other?

For context, Mounjaro is still working for me - this is mainly about cost and planning the next step… I’ve just consumed an entire army of Freddo frogs and it’s 11:20pm. 🙈

Is it just me, or is my insurance company asking for some pretty unusual and unreasonable things from me for approval?

Hi everyone, So, some unusual things have been happening in my and my doctor's attempts to get approved for Wegovy. First one being that I have been approved TWICE, and had received my first 0.25 starting dosage. During that first month, I experienced all positives and no side effects..

Then, suddenly, I was denied in month 2. However, I was apparently never approved to begin with. We resubmitted the pre-auth, and it was approved a SECOND time. I was even sent a copy of the approval notice straight from my clinic. And yet again, when I go to get my refill, I'm suddenly denied again.

There's only one theory I have. My insurance ID# was changed approx 3'ish years ago. Same insurance, no lapsed coverage, no breaks. All information has been updated with clinics. But why would the insurance company run the old ID# and my new ID# just to approve one and not the other?

Now, as far as the denial letter and the prerequisites they are asking of me. You can read a copy of it Here. It's just an Imgur link.

Just to quickly run down a few things.

  1. I have a BMI of 37

  2. Suffer from heart failure. (Diagnosed during the pandemic shutdown)

  3. Limited mobility due to degenerative disks/bulging disks (20+ years of pain meds)

  4. High Cholesterol A panel of results you can see here. And this was after being on Fenofibrate for a few months.

  5. The gallbladder was removed in 2009ish, So I've had to automatically watch what I eat since then. I don't eat poorly, at least as much as what my extremely limited budget can afford. You won't find any junk food in my kitchen. Hell, I'll even show anyone pictures of my pantry/fridge, and I don't eat crazy proportions (most of the time). It's just too expensive to truly eat healthy, while at the same time, the so-called "budget-friendly" healthy choices are still processed like crazy and ultimately not very healthy at all. I do NOT eat out or get fast food more than once or twice a year. I cook 99% of my meals myself. I don't eat candy, I don't drink coffee, I don't smoke, and I don't drink alcohol. I'll drink Sleepy time tea once in a while. I stay away from boxed meals as much as possible. I like one pot meals and always make sure to include protein, veggies, and some grains. Snacks in my fridge are often oranges, apples, and bananas. I love snacking on nuts (Worst thing in the world for me). I have a weakness for cheese/crackers/summer sausage. You get the picture. I'm not a pig. I've spent years trying to make the best food choices I can afford.

With that said, what the rejection letter is asking of me seems almost out of line. Like having to be 45 years old (I'm close enough), and basically telling me I have to pretty much die or come close to it before being approved, such as having a fkn heart attack! It's like, that's what we're trying to prevent! And I can barely bring my own groceries into my home, or wash my own hair without my arms feeling like they weigh a million pounds. Then add on the disk issues, how TF do you expect me to do much moving around? Now, before the pandemic and before K.O. (My dog) passed away. I would walk with K.O. 1-2 miles every day or every other day. It was about all my back could handle. But I made it work because K.O. was my everything. Even then, I never lost a pound. The thing is. I also never gain weight easily, either. And yet the insurance company is asking for some pretty ridiculous specifics...And then of course I have to have something amputated for "reasons"...

I know this is a long post, and I'm sorry. I could actually go on, but whoever gets this far has read the links I posted and is free to ask me more specific questions and offer any advice on how to continue my battle with getting approved. But any thoughts, opinons, or advice is extremely welcome. Thank you. Sorry for any typos or bad sentence structure.
