Getting a 2016 Honda Amaze for ₹2.5L with just 15k km… too good to be true or a steal?

I need some honest opinions before I finalize this deal.

I’m getting a 2016 Honda Amaze (1.2 i-VTEC, base model) for ₹2.5 lakh, and the car has only 15,000–16,000 km driven.

Now here’s where it gets interesting…

The car wasn’t used like a typical personal vehicle. It belonged to a hospital and was mainly used for VIP movements — like picking up doctors from the airport or dropping them home. So most of the time, it was just parked.

I even got a detailed vehicle report done (spent ₹470 on it 😅), and here’s what I found:

•	No accidents reported

•	No engine or transmission issues

•	No odometer tampering

•	Last recorded service shows around 12k km

•	BUT… service history is irregular (long idle periods)

Mechanic checked it and said it’s in good condition overall. Only a minor bearing issue (~₹500 fix).

Now the big catch:

The RC is in the name of the previous director (second owner), who is no longer working there. The current person selling it (third director) says:

“Don’t worry, my agent will handle the RC transfer, even without OTP from the previous owner.”

That part honestly makes me a bit uncomfortable.

My situation:

•	This will be my first car

•	I’m emotionally attached to the idea (not gonna lie 😅)

•	Budget-wise, it feels like a great deal

•	But I don’t want to make a stupid mistake

So my questions:

1.	Is this actually a good deal or am I being blinded by low price + low km?

2.	How risky is this RC transfer situation realistically?

3.	Should I go ahead or walk away?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions — even brutal ones.

I’d rather feel bad now than regret later.

clean title

I have been car shopping and can't believe the amount of salvage cars. It was unheard of 15 years ago. I feel like people even go crazy over a salvage car. Clean title are like a needle in a haystack. Why so many salvage cars? I have seen the damage and can't believe that it is a salvage...very minor.

Buy EV now or wait for supply increase?

Hi all, I’m located in Orlando, Florida and have been keeping an eye on the used EV Market. I currently drive a 2022 Lexus IS300 (2.0t RWD), it’s paid off and I don’t mind it but I’ve really been wanting to make the move into an EV. I’ve been looking at 22-23 Tesla Model 3 long range’s (want AMD chip), 23 Model Y long range’s (want matrix headlights), and 22-23 BMW I4 edrive40’s.

My question is if you were in my position would you jump on something now if you find an alright deal as gas prices are rising and used EV demand seems to going up some, or would you wait it out till later on this year as many have predicted that prices will drop a bit.

Supply is expected to increase this year (roughly 300k lease returns hitting the market). I’m assuming with the lease returns it will probably impact Tesla’s more than the BMW since Tesla moved more volume on leases back in 2023. I’ve always been someone who tries to get a good deal on my cars and I just feel like if I buy now I may end up upside down if values tank later this year with a supply increase. Any advice or input is much appreciated.

Cheers!

10-15+ year old cars-- CRV vs. Subaru vs. Rav4

First time buyer here, have a pretty low budget of $5k. Any general advice on buying used? I'm looking at Toyotas, Hondas, and Subarus because reliability is a pretty big factor for me. I want a car that'll last a while. I also love hiking and live in a snow state, so AWD / rough roading ability is something I'm thinking about.

But the major thing is just highway driving. I also need something that could potentially make it across the country (maybe multiple times). For some reason I really dig the CRV, but I've driven a Rav4 (2011) before and it seemed alright. Most of the cars in my range seem to be 150+ miles, which I think is fine. I don't care too much for aesthetics tbh, and even kind of like the idea of having a beater. BUT I do care that it works and that I won't have to dump a ton of money into it.

Any thoughts? Also, I've mostly been looking at Facebook Marketplace for this, as that's where I seem to be finding the most reasonable deals. I'm aware of the dangers of this, but it's what I've got rn. Any advice in that area too?

Buying First Car

I want to buy my first car as it would really help me with my transportation needs coming up in the future. I'll be driving 22 miles, five days a week for work.

I wanted to get something reliable, but also easy to work on if it was ever a simple problem I could probably learn how to fix it myself for cheaper. I've heard a lot of advice telling me to get either Hondas or Toyotas. I was wanting to know if anyone could help steer me in the right direction of model, price range, and things I should be looking for when buying a used car.

Looking at this rav4

I'm in need of a car and am quite interested in a 2012 rav4 with the V6 and 4wd. It's got 110k miles and it and the sticker price is 13.5k. I know that's pretty high, but it's been a car that spent most of its life in the American southwest, so it being nearly rust free makes the car basically gold in the northeast where I live. How low do yall think I can try and get the dealership, and is the car worth considering if they won't budge?

Should I sell my F31 diesel privately?

I own a 2015 BMW 328d xDrive wagon, which I bought new. It has 230,000 km on it. As a trade against a new BMW, local BMW dealers are offering between C$4000 and C$8000, which seems low. I know I can probably get more privately, but with extra work. I am hearing anecdotally that there are people who covet this combination of: made in Germany, wagon, diesel. My question is: where can I find these communities, so I can gauge interest in the car and its value? I am in Ontario, Canada.

Advice on purchasing a 2020 HR-V (32,000km, $15,000 CAD)

Hello,

I have recently received the opportunity to purchase a 2020 Honda HR-V LX from a grandparent for $15,000 CAD. From what I can tell, the vehicle is in good condition and only has ~32,000km on it. I'm not too familiar with HR-Vs, but from what I can tell, it seems like a pretty good deal. When looking online, it appears to me to be at least ~$7k below market value.

I guess that I am looking for any advice related to this vehicle and if others would agree that it is a good deal. I have never purchased a vehicle before, so this is pretty new to me. I would have to make the decision relatively soon, within the next 2-3 weeks.

The vehicle is located in a different Canadian province than me, around 2,200 km from where I am located, so I am unable to view the car in person. I would likely need to have it shipped to me. Not sure if anyone here has any experience with shipping a vehicle, or thinks this is a poor decision, but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

For me, the most important quality in a vehicle is reliability. I do not need anything flashy, nor do I need a large vehicle as there will only be 2 occupants most of the time. From what I can tell, this vehicle seems to align with my wants in a vehicle.

Thank you.

Best used car under 16k?

would really appreciate some advice 🙏

Here’s what I’m aiming for: Budget: under $16k Down payment: $5k No accidents / clean title Ideally under 60k miles Around 2017–2020

I like Subaru and Ford, but I’ve also heard really good things about Mazda, Toyota, and Honda for reliability.

I’m mainly looking for something: Reliable (low maintenance long-term), Good on gas or maybe hybrid? Not too expensive to repair. Not too big - no suv maybe a family sedan?

Aura a good buy?

Going to go take a look at a 08 Saturn Aura XR later today. Its got the full trim package with the brown leather seats and updated interior. Its got the 3.6 and the 6-speed auto with only about 130000Km on it (from Canada) and the body on it doesnt look too bad, though i’ve yet to see it in person yet.

My main concern is the reliability. Ive seen people say that the 6 speed is not a great transmission and i’m mostly aware of the v6’s issues, just want something with a little more torque.

Any other issues or concerns I should be aware of? Car’s listed for 3k btw!

Renault Captur A K C I J A

Hey everyone,

I’m considering buying this car and wanted to get some honest opinions before making a decision.

The car has some visible body damage (scratches/dents), so I’m mainly wondering:

•	Is this price fair considering the condition?

•	Roughly how much would it cost to fix the bodywork?

•	Are there any other common issues with this model/engine that I should expect?

•	Overall, is it worth it or should I skip it?

I’m okay with minor fixes, but I don’t want to get into something that will cost a lot more than expected.

Any advice or red flags would really help 🙏

Thanks!

2017 Focus concerns

I found an amazing deal on a 17 Focus from a local dealership but have concerns about the transmission issues I've read about. Is there any way to figure out if it will be an issue? It's an automaic transmission and has70k miles. My budget is limited but I don't want to end up with something that's gonna fall apart

2018 Toyota Prius C Four for $10,500

Is that a good price for 143k miles? It's had 3 incidents of "minor damage reported" per carfax, 3 owners, and last time it was serviced was 2023. Looking for my first car and worried about mileage and battery stuff if it'll need to be replaced; carfax does not indicate that it was replaced. Thanks so much

Please help me decide which one should I buy (first time buyer)

State : Michigan
Priority : Value for money for around 3-4yrs of usage / Reasonable comfort / Least repair cost
Estimated Usage : Regular <10 miles per day but monthly interstate travel
Financing is not a trouble since I plan to prepay anyway.
I have shortlisted and test drove the following 3 options and need help deciding:

Honda Accord '21 (Private Seller) Toyota Camry '19 (VW Dealership) Subaru Impreza '22 AWD (Family-owned dealership)
OTD Price (After Max Bargain) 14k + 1.1k (reg + plates estimate) 15.7k
Trim Sport 4dr Sedan LE Sedan
Mileage 64k 110k
Accidents 1 minor (sideswipe) None
Previous Owners 2 3
Carfax/KBB FPP 21.2k / 19k 15.2k / 13.6k
Carvana resale val 14.5k 10.5k
Engine 1.5L Turbo VTEC 2.5L DOHC
Exterior Condition Few scratches and dents, else good Door knobs and underside has material wearing off
Interior Condition Requires deep cleaning and air circulation, else good Rear right seat leather taped, multiple tapes and gearbox panel coating wearing off
Last Owner Driven Nov 2025 Feb 2026
Test Drive Feel Good Decent
Pre-purchase Inspection Minor issues (Wipers, Struts). 300$ to fix TBD
Main Drawback Private Seller, Different State Appearance
Main Concern Honda 1.5L Turbo Head-gasket issue, sitting idle for 3 months Resale value (Bad appearance)
Maintenance, Battery / Tires replacement Decent Decent

Also for the private seller one, seller is in Canada (lost legal status in USA) and car is out of state. However, seller is agreeing to me paying 0$ until I get title transferred in my name and get possession of the car. Also we have been talking for 3months now since initially I was looking to rent. So I don't think there's a chance of me getting scammed here but I'd appreciate advice regarding this.

I am really in need of good advice here since I'm new in US and do not have much info on what to look for in used car market. Thanks in advance!

Car help

Is a 2017 Honda Civic EX-T with 125k miles priced at $12.5k ($14.2k including taxes) worth it, or is it overpriced? It has a single owner, no accidents, and regular oil changes.

Help me with my first car please.

Which car is best under $15k

Hey everyone,

I’m deciding between these options (budget ~$15k):

  1. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/427581212

  2. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/439463976

  3. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/441831276

  4. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/442063947

  5. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/link/442525769

I’m prioritising repair cost and SUV(I have a new born). My current car is FWD and a sedan and we need a second car. My budget is max 15k

I’m leaning toward a Toyota Venza (CarPlay) but confused about reliability.

Also - is buying out of state worth it(I am in Chicagoland area)
