10-15+ year old cars-- CRV vs. Subaru vs. Rav4

First time buyer here, have a pretty low budget of $5k. Any general advice on buying used? I'm looking at Toyotas, Hondas, and Subarus because reliability is a pretty big factor for me. I want a car that'll last a while. I also love hiking and live in a snow state, so AWD / rough roading ability is something I'm thinking about.

But the major thing is just highway driving. I also need something that could potentially make it across the country (maybe multiple times). For some reason I really dig the CRV, but I've driven a Rav4 (2011) before and it seemed alright. Most of the cars in my range seem to be 150+ miles, which I think is fine. I don't care too much for aesthetics tbh, and even kind of like the idea of having a beater. BUT I do care that it works and that I won't have to dump a ton of money into it.

Any thoughts? Also, I've mostly been looking at Facebook Marketplace for this, as that's where I seem to be finding the most reasonable deals. I'm aware of the dangers of this, but it's what I've got rn. Any advice in that area too?
