Hi all. I am new to all of this, and a little overwhelmed.
I am wanting to set up 3 external monitors and still be able to use my laptop monitor on my WFH setup. I have a work issued Dell Latitude 7430.
The Dell dock is quite expensive so looking at alternatives. I have come across the Wavlink docks, and like the look of them.
Has anybody used a Wavlink dock with a Latitude 7430 and could recommend which dock?
I got
- Anker(though some aren’t a big fan),
- ugreen,
- Belkin
- Aohi
- INIU
- Baseus
Anymore? Are any of these brands bad?
Hey everyone, just want to share my story of my most recent purchase that went really badly.
Hagibis has an official store in Shopee (SEA e-commerce giant), and it has this listing as shown in picture 1.
It claims that it is 80Gb/s. So, I bought it because I need two 80Gb/s cables for my Thunderbolt 5 SSD. Waited for a week, and I got the cable as shown in picture 2.
I am always skeptical about these brands, so I used my Power-Z KM003C to test the cable's actual speed. It reads the USB-C e-marker chip to see what's it reporting - and behold! Only 40Gb/s, as shown in picture 3.
I then messaged the seller directly to tell them about it, and they sent me the two images in picture 4. They told me that the 1 meter cable is only 40Gb/s, but the 0.5 meter cable is 80Gb/s. 🙄
I then checked the current listing of that cable on their e-commerce shop, and they swapped the image to show only 40Gb/s for the 1 meter cable. Luckily, Shopee caches the listing during my time of purchase - so I can get the before and after as shown in picture 5.
I got my refund already, and reported to Shopee as a counterfeit product. There is no "false advertising" category so this is the best I can do.
Anyway, I got the Ugreen 1 meter 80Gb/s cable and it worked fine, as shown in picture 6.
Seriously, I have more severe trust issues about cables after this situation.
P/S: I'm not familiar with Reddit. I rarely post on Reddit in general, so I'm not sure if I'm formatting the post properly. Either way, I think this is an important story to share - so here I am.
I have a Crucial X10 6TB. It has USB C Gen 2x2 20 GB. My research suggests “that a laptop with USB4 supports Gen 2x2 in the spec and should therefore support Gen 2x2 in reality, but not always it say, ask the vendor to be sure.”
It is so confusing I can barely understand it and vendor ai support doesn’t know. Does anyone know of a laptop vender that supports USB C Gen 2x2 either directly or with a USB4 port? I am doing video editing with Resolve, 16 inch Intel or AMD (my research suggests AMD is more likely to support Gen 2 x 2. NVIDIA, 1 TB. Windows.
Given that several portable SSD use Gen 2x2, I got to believe I am not the only one looking for USB C Gen 2x2 support in a laptop.
So I'm not very good when it comes to hardware, but here's what I need:
A dock to power my work laptop and to be able to quickly and easily switch all my peripherals and monitors over between my PC and laptop, I need it to handle
- one 1080p 60hz monitor
- one 1080p 165hz monitor
- mouse/keyboard/mic/heaphones
my main concern is the monitor, I have not seen any claim over 60hz, but then they claim dual 4k. Even though I don't have 4k right now I'd also like it to be able to support 4k 165hz in the future.
Anyway here's the best I could find:
I'm just looking for some advice.

bought this cable specifically for my s23 to use with my usb c DAC and iem since its a little hard to find a robust mini usb c cable that"ll fit my phone case port and would have been perfect, but it won't connect/power, and only works if plugged through a power source and powered usb hub. shouldn't the phone count as a power source too since my DAC uses its battery to work? (and also just found out you can charge other phones with your phone through usb c lol)
Hello all,
I'm ripping my hair out, trying to find a solution for this.
My current setup is fairly simple:
My pain, is simple. Every time I want/need to use my personal Mac Mini I need to unplug the dock from the laptop and then connect it to the Mac, and vice-versa.
All I'm looking for is something similar do the dock in question, but that allows me to connect it both my work laptop and Mac Mini at the same time, via USB-C. I've found some KVM switches but most (almost all) required that for one (or both) of the computers I provide the video via HDMI, separately (looking at you, UGREEN).
I don't need fancy specs. I just need something that has:
The closest thing I could find to this is this kvm from SIIG, that seems to be the answer to all my troubles. My problem is that while Amazon lists it for around 100 USD, I live in the EU and for some reason they cost 200 EUR here.
Is there anything out there that can solve this issue, that doesn't bankrupt me in the process?
Cheers!
EDIT: grammar
I have one of these CR123A batteries that can be recharged via a USB-C cable. I can charge it with a 15W charging brick (which is what is connected in the picture), but if I try and connect it to my laptop charger (65W) it doesn’t work.
I thought that in absence of proper communication the charger would switch to 5V anyway.
I’m going on a 4-days trip to Paris with my mum and niece in a few weeks, and (besides the obvious powerbank) I wanted to get a multiport charger to lighten up my bag. It will be used to charge my Galaxy S22, my iPad 10, my Kindle Colorsoft, my mom’s iPhone 11 and her Kobo Libra….and maybe my niece’s iPhone too. They all have USB-C ports ((except of course the iPhone 11 and the two e-readers who require USB-C to USB-A cables)). I’ve already narrowed down my choices to these 2 Anker chargers:
- Anker PowerPort Atom III Slim 65W (ref.: https://www.amazon.it/dp/B098X6BQ8P);
- Anker Charger USB C 50W (ref.: https://www.amazon.it/dp/B0FX4MR7BK).
They both look good, so I’m pretty torn. In your opinion which one is the best for my needs? I already have all the necessary (Anker) charging cords.
Mostly just using it for my phone, which charges at 60watts so i dont need anything higher (i assume). Ideally it should be availible in australia and at a reasonable price. Im also quite rough with the end of my charger (bending it while using my phone) so take that into account please. I keep seeing mixed reviews for companies like ugreen so i have no clue who to get
Just bought a Treedix USB cable tester. I had several USB-A to USB micro cables, but none of them read any differently even tho I have a couple of USB "fast charger" power adapters that I assume came with cables that were capable of a fast charge. My Nanami wireless charging pad for my Samsung S24+ phone clearly says "fast-charging" on it, but my phone does not say that when I AM charging on it with several cables I own.
So I bought some new cables for a few bucks that say they are for "fast charging," and they work! How the hell do I know if my cable is capable of fast charging without a lot of swapping them around to test?
What I bought. 6-foot with a relatively thickish braided cable with a white-colored USB-A port. My other cables were thinner. Note that the speed rating is for USB 2.0, 480 Mbps, with the normal power light on the tester with no high-charging PD lights lit up.
"High Speed Charging and Sync: Micro USB Cable transfer speed up to 480 Mbps, 2.4 Amp charge. Data transfer and high-speed charging 2 in 1."
