Hagibis cable scam

Hagibis cable scam

Hey everyone, just want to share my story of my most recent purchase that went really badly.

Hagibis has an official store in Shopee (SEA e-commerce giant), and it has this listing as shown in picture 1.

It claims that it is 80Gb/s. So, I bought it because I need two 80Gb/s cables for my Thunderbolt 5 SSD. Waited for a week, and I got the cable as shown in picture 2.

I am always skeptical about these brands, so I used my Power-Z KM003C to test the cable's actual speed. It reads the USB-C e-marker chip to see what's it reporting - and behold! Only 40Gb/s, as shown in picture 3.

I then messaged the seller directly to tell them about it, and they sent me the two images in picture 4. They told me that the 1 meter cable is only 40Gb/s, but the 0.5 meter cable is 80Gb/s. 🙄

I then checked the current listing of that cable on their e-commerce shop, and they swapped the image to show only 40Gb/s for the 1 meter cable. Luckily, Shopee caches the listing during my time of purchase - so I can get the before and after as shown in picture 5.

I got my refund already, and reported to Shopee as a counterfeit product. There is no "false advertising" category so this is the best I can do.

Anyway, I got the Ugreen 1 meter 80Gb/s cable and it worked fine, as shown in picture 6.

Seriously, I have more severe trust issues about cables after this situation.

P/S: I'm not familiar with Reddit. I rarely post on Reddit in general, so I'm not sure if I'm formatting the post properly. Either way, I think this is an important story to share - so here I am.
