Update on my 10k tour
I finally reached Turkey and my final destination in Central Anatolia after 4,800 km and 60h of riding in 11 Days. Now I’m going to take some time to rest and explore the region before starting my journey back home.
This bike is amazing on twisty roads — it was so much fun riding the empty mountain roads in Turkey. I wish I could show you the views through my own eyes, but the camera just isn’t capable of capturing the moment properly. And honestly, I didn’t want to have the GoPro mounted all the time — I wanted to truly live in the moment.
Sadly, my right fog light fell off and was only held on by the cable attached to it. Mid-corner I heard a loud noise and at first I was proud of scraping my foot pegs, but later I realized it was actually the fog light banging against the front 😂. The good thing is that I can probably fix it with a new screw.
Now I’m going to get rid of the panniers, switch to Mitas Enduro Trail+ tires, and do some light off-roading. Wish me luck 😂
Rubberdust decals completed!
The honda medallion domed decals were separate. Seems like only the "premium" bikes get those from honda, like the Africa twin or goldwing. So I added those too 😆

First longish day on the 2 Tracks. The riding was great, pretty dry and 60ish % off road. I went counter clockwise from the eastern end of the loop putting the most technical parts right at the beginning. Nothin bad at all, just some rocky hills. I had jury duty cancelled so was able to take the day on Friday and was the only one out apparently. Total -240 mi, 8ish hours in the seat after playing around at Patchaug for a while in the morning. Excellent shakedown for the Bush Chicken in the fall.
On the tires, I got them figuring if they were that bad for my purposes I could throw them on when planning long dirt days. The jury is still out on the front as is developed a fairly odd whine after 400 miles or so. Not nearly as loud as the stock Karoo but it’s there. The rear is great especially considering the price. As another poster pointed out getting the rear off the rim on the side of the trail is going to be unlikely so slime for tubes is definitely in the bag. I needed an extra set of hands to mount it even with a rabaconda. Either way, it’s got great street manners and the set completely transformed the bike off-road.
Sprocket recommandations
Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on sprocket setup for my Honda Transalp XL600V, mainly for lighter TET riding and mixed on/off-road use. Right now I’m thinking of keeping the stock-style 15-tooth front sprocket, but I’m planning to get a Superpinion sprocket from KK Bikes. For the rear, instead of staying with the stock 47T, I’m considering going to a 49T rear sprocket to get a bit more low-end control off-road. The bike will mostly see lighter TET terrain — gravel roads, sand, muddy sections, forest tracks, etc. No hardcore enduro or boulder-field stuff. What I’m wondering is: Has anyone here run a 15/49 setup on an XL600V? Does it noticeably improve low-speed/off-road riding? How much does it affect road manners and cruising comfort? Does it make highway riding annoying, or is it still fine for longer road sections? Any other gearing setups you’d recommend for this kind of mixed use? Would love to hear from people who actually ride their Transalp off-road or do TET-style trips with them. Thanks!
p.s. tire recommandations are always welcome :D
Rubberdust decal set update!
1 side done so far! Soapy water method definitely helps!
Tour Update. 3k done 7k to go
Well, it’s been amazing so far. Italy is done, and I’m in Greece right now, and I have to say it’s an ADV paradise. Amazing empty roads — asphalt or gravel, it has absolutely everything. You can ride with beautiful views without seeing another person for hours.
My check engine light problem was solved by the super helpful guys at the Honda dealership in Lecce. It was, as you guys told me, the quickshifter. The positioning sensor gave a false signal and was reset.
One minor setback was that my helmet had an incident — thankfully without my head in it 😂. It fell off my bike and the visor mechanism broke. A replacement is already waiting for me in Istanbul, so all is good.
Next stop: Türkiye 🇹🇷
Wee ride out in the Scottish Borders
Talla and Megget reservoirs on the Three Lochs Run in Scotland (the third Loch that makes up the Three Lochs Run that's not in the pics is St Mary's Loch)
Just completed my first long trip on the Transalp - 801 km total (in 3 days) with a 3hr 55min mountain section covering 111 km continuously without taking break.
Coming from a Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, I'm absolutely loving this bike. However, I struggled with confidence on one particularly steep section with lots of loose gravel.
How do I build more off-road confidence without dropping the bike? I have insurance but would obviously prefer to avoid damage.
Also curious what mileage others are getting in similar conditions.
Added some photos from the trip. Loving the Transalp so far.
Any tips appreciated.
Getting ready to do the rubberdust decal set. Wish me luck!
Don't ask "why", yes I like it stock too. But just trying to make it "mine" & this particular set stands out for me. Most ppl go for the red white & blue. Will make another post once done 😀
Getting the TA dirty this last weekend
Went out and explored some of the area south of Lake Cushman, WA. Did about 30 miles of gravel road and the bike handled beautifully. Now I just want to get a better mapping system to ensure I do not get lost out there.
Sound normal?
I’ve owned one too many Jeeps that like to eat cams. … does my Transalp sound like it should? ~1,200 miles. First oil change at ~600 miles.
Hey Guys, on my Dads PD10 1997, the rear right Plastic broke basically all of the connectors. Does anyone know where to get a new part in the right color? I'm based in the EU
Size of the deposit.

So, i got a 2025 transalp Last month, its with 1300km by now. Having this said, i find it weird that the deposit says its 16.9L but when it shows the reserve Light and i go put some fiel on it, i only put 11L. Is the reserve really that big? (almost 6L). Im affraid to ride on the reserve since we dont have any expected kms to the end of fuel on this model.
Good idea for off-road?
Hi Transalp-lovers!
I (M 1.75m - 5.7 feet) started my love story with motorbikes three years ago learning with a trials bike. Once I got my license I bought a Hornet 750 and I have loved all single second with her ( 34k kms - 21k miles in two years).
Recently I started to think about longer trips and furthermore doing some "rally", and I noticed the lovely Transalp 750.
This model looks as off-road oriented bike and has the same engine as mine. So I thought this was a "win-win".
But I have two questions:
The Transalp model is a good idea for rallying? I'm looking for some roadbooks events on my country and even on Morocco. I mean, is this bike a good idea to take winding dirt and stone roads? I have seen so many trails and maxi-trails bikes with so many problems due the height and heavy weights.
Should I keep my Hornet? I use my bike everyday along all the year (work commute, routes with friends...). I don't know if the Transalp should it be a good replacement for this matters as it is bigger and maybe not so confortable on narrow city traffic. (I live in a city and my work place is 15min away).
I will try a 2025 Transalp in two days to check if it fits to me on the city.
Love and ride safe my friends!
