How to end a task?

I hired a tasker and of course know the hourly rate.

  1. does the trust and support fee apply to every hour, or is it just a one time cost?

  2. are hours prorated?

  3. how/who ends a task? I’m worried about being charged for more hours than the task required if “ending” the task is up to the tasker?

How to handle a far one way drive?

Just joined, first task is asking to haul a mattress a one hour drive away from my task area. I’d only make $60 but then would be spending another hour driving back… my understanding is I can’t expense gas or just my time for that drive back since you have to upload a receipt and it can’t be a gas/wear/tear expense. How is that approached? Do I tell them I get compensated for my drive back and then keep the clock running or whatever? I doubt they want to pay $100 though.. just feels like I’d be kind of screwed with how expensive gas is rn

Satisfactory ratings are a freaking joke

So allegedly charging too much for a job category is a thing to complain about now? So why even hire a tasker if your going to complain about the price?

plus the only time I recall being late to a task is when a client booked me for a later time then asked if I could come earlier. I told her I would come whenever I am done with the customer before her. I made it to the time she scheduled but she desperately wanted me to come before that time. other than that I dont recall being late to a task. This bull crap needs to work both ways. if they do this then we need to review our customers as well.

Am I being unreasonable - is this normal?

First time user of Taskrabbit here. Ikea quoted me $300 for assembly of a custom PAX unit and a desk. The PAX system contains 5 separate elements including one unit with drawers (the rest are shelves). To save some $$$, I built three of the units myself, except the two main ones that need installing on a metal rail into the wall. I hired a guy from Taskrabbit to 1. remove the baseboard, 2. build the frames of the remaining two units and attach them to the wall, 3. drill two holes into the back of the unit for access to electrical outlets, 4. join all the units together. No other work, no installing drawers, shelves or doors etc. He was new to Taskrabbit but a journeyman carpenter so I thought he would be good for the job. He took 7 hours to complete these tasks and even forgot to pull one of the electrical cords through despite me asking him to do so. Am I being unreasonable in thinking taking this long is extreme? I ended up getting charged $350 for his work despite him not even assembling half the unit!

I've been tasking on task rabbit for exactly one week. I really need this money, as I have no other way to pay my rent. I have done three tasks so far.One with multiple sessions and had great reviews from all three people. My account details are all real.I've blacked out my name so that it's not associated with this reddit account. But my real legal name is on my account. And it shows that my identity was verified. This morning, I got these two emails, and now I can't message a client about an ongoing job that I was booked for. Is there something wrong with my profile that i'm not seeing? Does anyone know why this happened?Did a client like write something in this feedback or something?

Edit to add.I haven't been paid for the three jobs I completed yet. Is this temporary account suspension?Going to prevent me from getting paid?

Curious about first-week invite volume (Historical vs. Current)

I'm looking for some insight into what the starting line looks like. For those who remember your first week as a Tasker, how many invites did you actually receive ?

Also, did you find that you had to keep your rates at the bare minimum to get that first bite, or did the invites come in regardless ? Trying to get a feel for the momentum.

Pax Closet Install price

How much is IKEA usually paying you guys to install a pax unit with rods, drawers, shelves, etc. in your area? Is it always mandatory to co-task?

34/ hr for TV mounting in NY

Hi fellow Taskers

I recently turned my app back on in order to keep up with bills etc. I was surprised to get a hired for a tv mounting task in the middle of downtown Manhattan for 34 an hour!

The congestion toll to enter that part of the city is insane let alone parking.

How did it go from 75 an hour to this crap? And the lady asked if I could do more “little things” within the hour.

Sorry just frustrated and venting.

This app has fallen

This app is falling off so hard. It's unbelievable. I used to actually make a living off of taskrabbit and was able to promote my business effectively and over the last few years it has gone completely downhill. I don't even know how you could operate on the platform anymore. I've been off for over a year and it didn't really affect my revenue at all. Shame!

Last minute reschedule request

The tasker said she had a family emergency and needs to reschedule. But the app wont let me reschedule as it is too late. Am I about to get charged? Task is supposed to start in 10 min

New Tasker need advice

Hello, I started tasking 2 weeks ago exactly and have had 10 jobs (9 of which have been yard work). I’m surprised at how much work I’ve gotten but a couple things have been bugging me. All of the yards I’m getting are super over grown, have dog poop and sticks all over and are just over all unkept. I am treating the yards as if it were my own and they are taking 2-3 hours to complete because of how bad they are. I try to be mindful of what people are spending on my service so I’ve reported less time than I’ve actually worked several times because I felt like they felt I was taking too long.

I assumed everyone defaults to 1 hour when they book me, but today it seemed like a customer expected it to actually only be an hour. There was no way I could do a great job in an hour with the condition of the yard. Now I’m questioning all of my previous tasks and wondering if I’ve taken too long.

Would it be out of line to ask the customers the max amount of time they’d want me to spend working on their yard? Or should I just give them an hour of work and not try to achieve a perfect yard? I don’t want to lower the quality of my work but I also want to be mindful of peoples time/money. How do yall handle this?

Note that I’m at $30/hr while every other Tasker is at $45+ in my area.

Ridiculous Cancellation Policy - Never Using TaskRabbit Again

My dishwasher was not working so I scheduled a task with a Tasker that clearly said he could handle appliance installation and repairs and specifically listed dishwashers as an appliance he could assist with. I schedule the task for that day because I needed my dishwasher that day. Tasker contacts me and says he can't do dishwasher repairs. So I cancelled the task. Then I see a $76 charge on my credit card. I contact Taskrabbit and they said if a task is cancelled within 24 hours of the task therre's a nonrefundable cancellation fee and it doesn't matter that the task was cancelled because the tasker didn't have the skills for the task. I've already got my credit card company to reverse the charge but I'm shocked at how much of a scam Taskrabbit is. Never using it again.

I do furniture assembly. Most of my leads come from Taskrabbit, but I’m trying to get some leads on my own.

I’d say over the past few years I’ve done several hundred furniture assembly jobs off-platform. Until today, no one has ever asked me for references. I don’t have any prepared and I was shocked to be asked for them as I’ve completed this many and no one else has ever asked.

Since I don’t have any prepared, in this specific case, I think I’m going to decline the task. The job is an hour away and it’s building one piece. But now that this has been brought up, I’m wondering about future jobs.

Do you supply references to prospective clients? How often are you asked for them?

When a client schedules for a time then asks if you can come earlier. Those times that are available are available for a reason. Whats even worse is, if you deny it you get penalized for it

Two Charges for One Task?

Hi, this is my first time using Taskrabbit so I was wondering if this is a common issue or something I need to worry about. On May 8, I booked a simple moving task for May 10 (just moving some stuff from my apartment to a storage unit). The task happened on May 10 with no issue, and I even left a small tip. However, on my credit card, there are two charges for an identical amount (the task amount that shows on the app). One of them is from May 8, when I booked the task, and is for/from “Tasker on Taskrabbit”. The other one is from May 10, when the task was completed, and is for/from “Taskrabbit Receipt”. Is there any way I can resolve this on the Taskrabbit end, or do I need to dispute the charge directly with my credit card company? Thanks in advance. It’s been more than 24h since the task was completed and invoice sent, and the chat with my Tasker is disabled. The official time taken for the task is 1 hour, so I don’t think being billed for unintended extra time is the issue.

My dad wants a book from a library in perry county indiana. Which isn't available on taskrabbit as an area. Would it be crazy to ask a person to go down from the Indianapolis area to get the book and then get it shipped to me? I ask bc we live in Georgia and have no relatives near there. Thanks!

Elite tasker came to do drywall work. Completed the demolition on the first visit and said he would come back the next week to hang the drywall. When I attempt to schedule that visit, it says the tasker is "not available in your area. Please pick another tasker." Not sure what this means.
