Why do most of the good gyms and even anytime fitnesses belong to the east
Can we have one in the west too
Like a strength masters in jurong east would be amazing
I am so frustrated by the quality of gyms in the west
Been noticing how expensive whey protein brands are becoming, so I'd like to ask which alternative protein sources are realistic replacements for the shake. I considered
- eggs - maybe giant omelettes or bakes
- tofu - haven't tried and still trying to figure out how to cook and eat large quantities of this
- chicken meat - Been eating this and realising it can be cloying after a while, hence seeking alternatives.
Edit: Thanks for all comments!!
Has there been a recent trend of people suddenly becoming running influencers? I was just wondering because it seems anyone can be sponsored by brands like new balance and puma.
No hate to their content but is just something I’ve noticed.
Washing detergent for frequent sports wear
Those of you who work out regularly like almost every day if not every other day, please suggest what’s a good washing detergent. I realise some are not that good and my clothes still have sweat smell. Not sure if it’s brand specific …
I know it could be some clothing material deteriorating overtime with frequent use and wash. What I try to do is rinse and soak my clothes in soapy solution then wash next day (need to gather more clothes per load)
Anyone has better suggestions?
Always been doing vanilla cos I prefer the “plain” simple vanilla. But what other flavours do you like and if you think other brands are good, and same value better flavour do share too.
Also what do you think about non-Dairy protein. Haven’t tried those before. Those that drink this kind - thoughts on their efficacy and taste.
Hi all, hoping to get some advice from the fitness community.
My dad and I signed up for a 20-session PT package with Anytime Fitness in Aug 2025. The plan was to split the sessions between us, so we expected to complete it in about 10 weeks.
However, things didn’t go as planned due to many issues with the branch and its PTs:
Our first PT (who was good) had to stop due to health reasons. There was a long gap before we were assigned a second PT; he wasn’t great, and eventually stopped showing arranging for sessions (we were later told he was fired). A third PT (the branch manager, who had apparently just renewed his PT certification) took over briefly, but he has since left as well.
It has now been ~8–9 months since we signed up, and regardless of the sessions used, it feels like the service we paid for (structured, consistent PT guidance) hasn’t really been deliverable in practice.
We did try asking about refunds, but were told it’s not possible due to contractual terms.
At this point, I’ve stepped back and let my dad take over the remaining sessions, but honestly it’s quite frustrating. He only recently got into fitness at age 65, and we were hoping this would help build consistency and confidence. Instead, the constant change in trainers and lack of continuity has been quite discouraging.
Just wanted to check: Has anyone faced similar issues with PT packages in SG gyms? Is there any recourse here (e.g. via AF itself or other channels)? Or are we basically bound by the contract regardless of service quality?
Appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Thanks in advance!
I understand why east is much better to north just by taking AF as an example...
I have been AF member for more than 10 years. I have friends over in central and east. We gym around sg and try different AF gyms bjt over the years I noticed AF gyms in north is just simply worse....
North is just
Very small and cramped
Toilets are non existence or just simply super dirty
Bare minimum of equipment or just outright rusty, sticky and messy
(eg. Only 1 squat rack, cable, 2 bench the cardio space as small as HDB common room. Probably the size of whole HDB 4 room thats all maybe lesser than that.)
Compared to central and east.
Its just super spacious
Toilets are clean and good. Really well maintained
Sometime the Equipments are just overwhelming and so nice to workout.
I understand its franchise but there got to be a guidelines to set up a gym right or the guideline is just to have a space of 3/4 room HDB?
In north we just settled for less i guess. The only good workout i can have is in weekends because I just go to central or east for a workouts.
Saw a post few days ago about it being around $99, wanted to get but it was somehow $109. Double-checked iherb and its $156 😒
Another shop has it on sale now. https://s.shopee.sg/50VjGvz26c
Btw anyone tried Banana cream or Salted caramel? Good? I like Korean banana milk. Was wondering if it tastes similar.
EDIT: Several people have brought up it's best to stick to the Official ON shop as they've seen some odd reviews for the other store. Thanks for the heads up.
Bad body odour from other gym goer
Need some advice on how to handle this without sounding racist or rude.
There’s a couple at my Anytime Fitness with very strong body odour once they start working out, and because they do separate workouts the smell spreads quite far around the gym. It’s bad enough that people avoid nearby machines sometimes or even use their hand to hold their nose.
I’m considering letting the gym staff know privately, but I’m worried it might come across wrongly. But what can the gym even do?
They always go at 10pm and staff are not there to experience it. I don’t really want to change my timing to 12am as well and before that is just too packed :/
Some weeks I can train hard for a few days straight and everything feels good, then suddenly work stress or poor sleep hits and I end up missing gym for the next few days because my body just feels exhausted.
Feels quite frustrating because it becomes very on/off instead of consistent progression.
Anyone else experience this before? How do you manage balancing work stress, sleep and still keeping gym consistent?
Hi all anyone know when the biggest discount period is for af (other than new outlet openings) and what are the prices?
Also is there any clauses or t&cs to look out for when signing
Context: Planning to move from working out in the small office gym to AF (convenience to office & home)
Protein in sg is way overpriced
Look at this Japanese convenience store meiji protein: 20g 108kcal. And for ¥200 (about $1.60). Great tasting too. Wish they'd bring this in
As title suggests, anyone has recommendations for high protein noodles?
Pleasee share what are the best unisex deo out there in singapore market? I wanna use for gym. Thanks!
