Pissed at this worship this little sea snake was getting, it would curse him to be human.

He will be very acquainted with humanity, but he will probably sound like an insane person trying to explain his situation (much less, recruit for it).

Hi there. I’m Kevin, a thirty-nine-year-old nerd from the East Coast of the United States. After surviving some of the busiest weeks of my life, I’m back on the hunt for a roleplaying partner who values creativity, collaboration, and consistency.

I’ve been writing for longer than I care to admit, and over time I’ve developed a clear sense of my style, preferences, and expectations. Because of that, I tend to be selective when it comes to partners. I hope you are too. A few quick things about how I write:

• I write exclusively in third-person past tense.
• My responses are detailed and multi-paragraph, and I aim to reply several times a week.

My favorite genres are Slice of Life, Low Fantasy, and Science Fiction. I tend to gravitate toward character-driven stories with strong emotional development, steady progression, and a clear sense of direction.

Below are a few ideas that have been living rent-free in my head. These are flexible starting points, and I’m always open to adjusting them or exploring something entirely new together.

Slice of Life

• “Back to Where It Started” -- Two people who were once close reconnect after years apart, brought back into each other’s lives by circumstance. Time has changed them, and their shared history is no longer as simple as it once was. As they reconnect, they have to decide what, if anything, still remains between them.
• “Changing Perspectives” -- Two people who have known each other for years through a mutual connection begin to see each other differently over time. What once felt familiar begins to shift as their lives and priorities change. Their growing connection has the potential to affect more than just the two of them.

Low Fantasy

• “Fault Lines of Magic” -- In a world divided by how magic should be used, one relies on raw, instinctive power while the other trusts only in refined, technology-driven magic built for control. Each views the other’s approach as dangerous, and their encounters reflect that divide. Over time, those assumptions begin to change as they are forced to better understand one another.
• “The Weight of the Crown” -- One lives within palace walls, shaped by expectation and responsibility, while the other survives beyond them, shaped by a very different reality. Their paths were never meant to cross, but once they do, both of their lives begin to shift. Any connection between them comes with challenges tied to the roles they each carry.

Science Fiction

• “Stranded Among the Unknown” -- A crash leaves a human stranded on a planet that doesn’t behave the way it should, where survival depends on adapting quickly. An encounter with something unfamiliar becomes essential to staying alive, even if trust does not come easily. Over time, that reliance begins to change both of them.
• “More Than a Machine” -- A human is assigned to work alongside an advanced autonomous system designed for precision and efficiency. At first, it functions strictly within its intended role, but over time it begins to adapt in unexpected ways. As that evolution continues, their working relationship becomes more complex.

Viserra Targaryen was never meant for stillness. Daughter of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne, she had been born to dazzle, wildly ambitious, and restless beneath the silken trappings of court. Instead of dying young, the willful princess was married off to Lord Theomore Manderly of White Harbor, a match meant to temper her spirit and root her in the cold North. But the gods are never so kind. Her husband’s sudden death left her widowed before she could even bear his child, and the widow of White Harbor soon found herself adrift, too foreign for the North, too scandalous to return to King’s Landing.

So she rides for Winterfell, under the guise of mourning, seeking solace, or perhaps purpose, in the heart of the North. It is there she will meet Lord Edric Stark, newly come into his lordship after his father’s death, a man of quiet honor and deep reserve.

I’m seeking a literate and story-driven partner to write Lord Edric Stark opposite my Viserra Targaryen. This will be a slow-burn, character-focused narrative exploring political tension, culture clash, and forbidden intimacy between a Northern lord and a Targaryen widow who was never made to bow easily. Mature themes and emotional depth are welcome; I value well-developed characters and descriptive writing that brings the world to life.

Long story short, I'm an English teacher, and I'm making a return to roleplaying.

But first, some context about what led me here...

So, over the past few years, grading essays has changed, and not in the usual “kids these days” sort of way. More and more often, kids are submitting A-I generated work (I need to put the dash. Apparently this subreddit won't let you put those two letters together?).

And honestly, it makes me really sad. Not because technology is bad or I’m anti-A-I or anything like that. It's that I feel like writing was always one of the most joyful things for me when I was younger. Like that moment when you realize you can build a character, a world, a story with nothing but words. When you realize the power of your imagination, you know?

Earlier this week, I ended up having that conversation with one of my classes. Somewhere in that discussion I mentioned how when I was younger, a huge amount of my writing happened online, in roleplaying communities. After class that day I started wondering what the roleplay world looks like now. So I did a bit of searching, stumbled across this subreddit, and thought… why not give it a whirl?

So here we go... a little bit about me (yes, as sentence fragments, come at me):

• 30+ teacher who still gets excited about a really good sentence.
• East coast US time zone.
• Drinks far too much coffee during grading season.
• Owns an alarming number of notebooks that are all “for different ideas.”
• Big fan of rainy afternoons, bookstores, and quiet writing time.
• Enjoys hiking, though mostly as an excuse to think about story ideas.
• Amateur history enthusiast who occasionally falls down Wikipedia rabbit holes for hours.
• Has a soft spot for character-driven stories where people change over time.
• Probably overthinks character motivations (occupational hazard).
• Once stayed up until 3 am finishing a collaborative RP thread because the scene was too good to leave unfinished.

What I enjoy writing:

It’s been a while since I last roleplayed, but the kinds of stories I’ve always gravitated toward tend to fall into modern / contemporary fiction, historical fiction, or science fiction. More than any specific genre, though, I really enjoy character growth arcs and slow-burning plot development.

But yeah, I'm drawn to the kind of stories where characters start in one place and through choices and consequences end up somewhere completely different months later. I miss that organic process where two writers build something together scene by scene. Where neither person knows exactly where things are going yet, but both are excited to find out.

The wheels of the wooden cart rolled through the mud of a forgotten forest road, its once vibrant reds and blues now faded into a pale mockery of the Circus' long-gone grandeur.

As you peeked through the iron bars of the cart you could see the moon dimly illuminate the woods around you, but it was not what you could see, but what you could feel that made every last hair on your body stand up in terror. This overwhelming unseen presence that proved it was not merely a remote forest, but another plane of existence entirely that the Circus used as a passageway to their own, nightmarish realm.

And the piercing, red gaze of the beast trapped behind bars of the smaller cage in the corner of your own little prison was certainly not helping.

Heeeello everybody! I hope this introduction has been enough to catch your attention. This is obviously a fantasy story, one with action and perhaps some horror elements as well!

What I'd really love to focus on however is a specific character dynamic, that being the classic prey and predator overcoming their differences!

My character is Hikari, a human-fox hybrid (the monster in the cage if that wasn't obvious...), who's initially out there to hunt you down (When she gets out of that damn cage...), but through a string of luck or your own charisma you two form an uneasy alliance that gradually develops into a genuine friendship because of shared happines, trauma and adventure.

Your character in this setting would similarly be a human-animal hybrid, but one that's typically lower on the food chain. I'm thinking a mouse, a rabbit or something in that fashion.

I’m looking for a writing partner to build a slow-burn, character-driven romance that’s anything but traditional. Here’s a run down, please read the whole thing to make sure we’d be a good match before you reach out.

He was the kind of man who didn’t need to say he was successful, anyone could see it in the way he carried himself, in the quiet confidence, in the way people listened when he spoke. Intelligent in a way that felt sharp, deliberate. Charming without trying. The kind of man who noticed everything and missed nothing. Handsome, of course. Dangerous, maybe. Not in the obvious way. In the kind of way that made you forget your own rules.

Hey everyone! I’m looking for a dedicated RP partner for a Marvel-based story, specifically centered around Peter Parker post–Far From Home. I love the idea of exploring Peter after he’s wiped everyone’s memories and is starting over completely—new life, new connections, and all the emotional weight that comes with that.

Hello! My name is Hilda; I'm 21f with flexible literacy. Recently, I finished my second playthrough of Twilight Princess, and it has me craving some Midna × Link(canon or genderbent) RP.

In particular, I'm wanting this to follow the plot of the game, with a few differences:

1. A romantic subplot. This is the cornerstone of the whole idea, to actually set it apart from the game. Rather than the platonic relationship they share in the original, I'm hoping to have Midna and Link slowly but steadily fall for each other throughout the story.

2. More downtime. In a game about killing monsters with a sword, any moments that aren't progressing the story are few and far between. However, romantic stories thrive on giving characters time along by themselves to interact. This would mean meal breaks, camping out, stopping at inns, along with other moments here and there.

3. Midna having more to do. Since Twilight Princess is a singleplayer game, it makes sense for Link to do everything. Wouldn't be much of a game, watching Midna do all the work. However, I'd get especially bored roleplaying a character that's kicking back and doing nothing, so I want Midna to take a more active role in boss fights and other moments. They would have more of a team dynamic in these scenes, working together to take down large foes.

There are definitely other changes that would make it better that I'm not remembering, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

I'm cool with any level of literacy, and I'm perfectly okay with there being long gaps between replies. I prefer using Discord, but it's not a deal breaker.

I'm recently getting back into the hobby after some time away and I'm eager to find some partners to write with, specifically to write some meaningful romance stories that tick all the boxes, filled with slow burn tension, heartache and everything in between.

About me:

I am a literate/Novella writer, meaning that every response I craft is detailed, immersive and aims to hold a candle to whatever literate standard you have for someone who is dedicated to the art of storytelling. I take my writing seriously and I aim to seek someone who is able to match my level of capability.

Outside of writing, I work full time. Availability will always be communicated and I am consistent. I don't ghost, so if there are issues or anything else you'd benefit to know, I never hesitate to say.

Bit of an introduction of myself before we get into the details! I go by Lilac online, they/them pronouns, in my late twenties. I work second shift central standard time, though I usually try to respond at least daily if not a bit more frequently, potentially rapid fire on my days off (the weekends). Hello all! I am a 21 year old currently looking for any and all willing and eligible roleplay partners! For a little about myself, i primarily use discord and intend to move there after discussion. I like to write quite a bit, typically multiple paragraphs per reply, but I can write more if need be! I love being in the creative pilot seat so to say, and want someone in the passenger seat next to me! I only speak english (for now…) and Have it as a requirement that you must also speak english (I can accept mistakes if its not your first language but please don’t communicate with me via translator 😭). As for the plot, the core idea is so:

Week 976. The biggest event of the year. For at least 7 days a year, 976 participants compete in a 7 round competition for the chance to gain generational wealth and a free pass to do nearly anything they want, as well as the fame that comes from succeeding. This year was like any other.

Fandoms has formed for the participants, whether that be due to their looks, their demeanour in interviews, or simply that they had participated multiple years in a row and had gained a reputation.

The rules of the week are simple.

The week consists of 7 rounds (typically 1 per day), each round grows more difficult and is meant to test physical and mental ability, as well as testing one’s morality. Between each round a small rest period is given to allow participants to sleep and eat.

In order to survive a round one must simply complete the criteria of said round. Any who make it to round 4 are invited back to the next year’s edition of week 976. Any who pass round 7 are considered to be ‘graduated’ from the competition. Any number of people can graduate in a year, though the number rarely surpasses 10 people.

Death is to be expected with the intensity of the competition. Killing, while looked down upon, is only illegal during the inter-round periods. Killing other competitors mid round is entirely fine.

Disqualification occurs when a participant either receives help from a non participant, fails to meet the criteria of a given round, dies, or kills another participant during an inter round period.

This year in particular seems to be special, as a record setting **100** participants who were one round short of graduating the prior year have returned this year! Making it by far the most difficult year to compete in.

The rp focuses on participant 161 (whom i will play), a white haired person of almost no known origin. Despite flying through the first few rounds with ease, he seems intent on teaming up with somebody. That would be your character.

And that is the gist! This plot would prefer us to be playing more than one character, though if you do not want to that is okay! Our characters can have any kind of relationship we’d want, whether they purely view one another as tools to get closer to winning, or they actually get along and a partnership is an easy move to make. This rp is quite action intensive and is open to romance if you’d like!

Alright, I won’t lie, I am an amateur.. and honestly, barely that. I’d say im pretty good at roleplaying? I usually just adapt to the same level as my partners and such.

I am open to anything, but here is the world’s (or atleast general region we’re roleplaying in’s starting scenario)

It is the early 1000’s AD, like in our real timeline, the nomadic steppe group of Pechenegs had begun multiple raids into Roman territories, Thrace, Macedonia, even eventually threatening the walls of Constantinople.

In this world, there had been a massive multi-tribal confederation of finno-ugric, slavonic/volgaic peoples along the Volga river. This confederation had been closely tied to Constantinople, converting to Orthodox Christianity (although in a massive thirty year-long civil war between pagans and Christians converts from the years 971-1001 A.D.) and are now split between helping Rome or not, many tribes doing their own thing and no singular unified effort being made.

Yada yada yada, basically, you get to choose how you start, and I will work my character around that. Whether you want to be some noble, male or female, that must be escorted to Constantinople through the war-torn steppes which were dominated by the Pechenegs and the Roman provinces being ransacked and pillages by those same warlords, to a common warrior in my same tribe, among any other ideas you may have or I could give you.

Hello, I’m Elliot! I’m trying to get my creative flow running again after hitting a bit of a slump over the winter. I’m looking for something light-hearted, perhaps a little slice of life roleplay with themes that aren’t so heavy.

Key Points:

1. I'm a woman in her mid-thirties, from the midwestern United States, CST.
2. I prefer to write with other women in their twenties and older.
3. I only write MxM pairings.
4. I only roleplay over Discord.

I am a highly character-driven storyteller. While external plots are critical and drive the flow of a roleplay, I get more hooked by the character nuances. I love watching different characters grow and develop in response to the challenges they face. I like characters who feel relatable and realistic. While I enjoy flawed characters, I do not romanticize toxicity or unhealthy dynamics. Even if they may start out with unhealthy patterns, the goal is for them to overcome those. I don't glorify issues or power imbalances in my writing.

The length of my replies depends on what's happening. For 'regular' replies, I tend to average five to six paragraphs. Introductions or scenes where more is going on, such as time skips, could span a few pages.

While I run with only one main character, I always have a supporting cast because I feel it adds to the world and story. I like writing with people who throw in their own supporting characters, such as friends and family members, that come and go. On that note, I also click best with others who are just as proactive in storytelling. I want the roleplay to feel like a cooperative storytelling experience instead of something one-sided.

Chatting and creating friendships outside of the roleplay isn't necessary. If you're the kind of person who likes to keep it strictly writing-related, you will 100% not hurt my feelings. If you're a chatty sort, that's also totally fine by me!

Potential Roleplay Ideas

As the title states, I'm looking for something more lighthearted at this time, with a modern-day setting and no fantasy elements. While these are things I've enjoyed and usually pursued in the past, I don't want to bite off more than I can chew with heavy emotional story themes and extensive worldbuilding.

Here are two character ideas I'm toying with:

1. A young man in his early-mid twenties is trying to find himself after a more troubled youth/upbringing. He may have gotten into trouble in the past or was just a general shithead as a teenager. Either way, he's looking for answers and a future that feels tangible and real. He's charismatic and funny, but uses humor and charm like a smoke screen. He's basically going about life trying to fix his problems the wrong way, until your character comes around.
2. An attorney in his early thirties has a rival attorney he often faces off with professionally. On the outside, they have vastly different views. My character likely comes from a highly conservative upbringing and appears to 'have it all.' He comes from an influential background. On the inside, he's deeply conflicted and under a lot of pressure. Your character is on the opposite end of that spectrum. Shenanigans occur when their law offices merge, and the two rivals find themselves navigating a new dynamic.

I'm absolutely open to other ideas. If you have a character concept you've been playing with that you want to explore more with, please don't hesitate to reach out. Again, as long as the overall theme leans towards something lighter and more uplifting, I'm game to explore various ideas.

A bit about me. I’m 24 years old, and my pronouns are she/her. I’ve been roleplaying for around 8 years with preference leaning towards multi-paragraph to novella-length replies. I really enjoy OOC conversations outside of the roleplay! I’d love a partner who’s open to chatting regularly and building a friendship alongside our story. Lastly, I am in the EST time zone, but I don't mind partners in other time zones!

I’m currently looking for partners to develop a story centered on two characters torn apart by a war between their respective countries. I’d love for our characters to be soldiers on the battlefield - whether as high-ranking leaders or low-rank soldiers. There are plenty of directions we could take: they might have been close friends once, or long-time rivals constantly trying to outdo each other. These are only a portion of ideas, and I am always up for discussions! No matter the setup, I’m aiming for a story that blends a strong love-hate dynamic with lots of angst, tension, and action.

I’d prefer the story to be set in a World War II or modern warfare setting. While I’m open to discussing fantasy ideas, my current preference leans strongly toward historical or modern themes.

I’m preferably looking for partners around my age who enjoy writing detailed, literate responses. Ideally, I’d love for at least one reply per day to keep the story flowing at a steady pace. Lastly, I’d prefer a partner who doesn’t use real-life face claims. I personally use character or anime art, as real-life face claims really turn me away from the roleplay.

I’m looking for someone to co create a classic rivals to lovers slowburn love story with!

About me: I’m a 21+ year old writer from the CET timezone! (Though timezone personally doesn’t matter to me)

I have a good chunk of experience under my belt and am looking for someone who is also not entirely new to the game!

I write preferably in third person past tense (but am willing to switch it up to match) and write multi paragraph replies!

I can write anywhere between 300 and about 1000 words, obviously highly depending on the scene and level of detail!

For our story I definitely want to work out something together and create something original with both of our ideas implemented!

I have a few rough ideas that we can lean on and go from there though.

> Workplace Rivalry: I’m thinking something like two medical residents who are trying to get into the same specialty, always fighting each other to scrub in the good surgeries. It’s a cut-throat kind of rivalry where they sabotage one another to look better in front of their attending. Alternatively this could be two colleagues at an office or attorneys at a law firm up for the same promotion!

> Athletic Rivalry: Two star athletes in opposing teams fighting for a title. This works best for a FxF story, but with enough imagination or the right type of sport FxM might work too!

I imagine this to be a story where both of the characters are definitely also frequently in the media.

I’m personally obviously not knowledgeable in every type of sport but this is something we can discuss together, I’m willing to read up on mostly everything. Personally I’d be most interested in writing something like that with Formula One or any type of E-Sports. But like i said anything is on the table!

Some themes I find myself enjoy frequently that can be incorporated as well are for example yearning, angst, tension, miscommunication, jealousy and many more!

Hi all!

I’m I’m looking to start up a long term RP based around a superhero academy!

Plot(s): Over the past 100 years or so, humans have begun to develop strange powers at varying levels of potency. Custodians are those who have been able to control and harness their powers well enough with good intentions to protect civilians from those who intend to cause harm. Custodian Academy is where bright young heroes-to-be go to work with existing Custodians in bettering themselves!

Existing as a worldwide association, Custodian Academy has facilities across the globe, with the focus of this RP being in Upstate Maine, USA. There has been a recent increase in intake for the facilities due to a spike in superpower-backed criminal activity— some facilities having been attacked themselves. The Headmaster hopes to train up a strong enough force with the new wave of academy members, led by the existing small force already.

It’s pretty nondescript so far! (Background wise anyway). I plan on having attacks to the facility occur and eventually result in the capture of a student. I have information about a fair amount students and professors, but I’d like the amount of students per facility to be relatively low (for the sake of me tracking them all ;_;).

Given that I’ll be controlling multiple characters, I’ll be writing in 3rd person, but I don’t have any preferences on your choice! This *will* be my first time GMing for an RP, but I’ll be taking notes of information as everything passes and doing my best to not overwhelm you with to many characters at once! Letting me know which characters you prefer yours to interact with as the story progresses would likely help as well!

I generally write a few paragraphs per reply, but given that I’ll be setting up a lot of background information, I will likely be doing more than normal. Of course it’s a scene to scene thing, so for more dialogue focused bits I won’t be writing fluff just to increase length. I work 5 days a week, so please be patient with my replies, I will do my best to get at least one out a day, and hopefully more on my off-days if our schedules line up!

Hi there! Recently I’ve been watching The Pitt, I’m pretty early into season 2, but I love the show and really want to start a RP for it.

Some background about me. I recently got back into Role Playing after a decently big break, probably 2 or 3 years, but prior to that break, I spent around 4 years Role playing. I also am a writer, so I’d like to say I’m at least somewhat decent when it comes to my writing capabilities.

I’m 18, which means I’m looking for an 18+ partner since I typically always want a romantic subplot. With that in mind, I typically write MM romance since I enjoy it the most, but I’m willing to work on MF romance (Non-binary characters are great as well!) I mostly work on Discord since I just like the platform better, but I’m always open to try new things!

I’m a pretty easy person, honest I really like building characters, worlds and stories with the person I’m role playing with.

It’s October 31st, Halloween! Most people love Halloween, but everyone knows when holidays roll around so do accidents. There’s been reports of ‘killer clowns’ remember those from 2016? Well, those rumours are back. The hospital, just as people are switching off with the night crew, are told there has been a threat sent, saying that a ‘killer clown’ will go on a rampage. Obviously people barely believe this, once again, it’s Halloween, but Incase it is a real threat. The hospital goes on lockdown.

And chaos continues- or maybe it doesn’t? It’s up to you and I to find out!
