[Laprade] According to sources, five Montreal players are dealing with a stomach bug: forwards Lina Ljungblom, Maureen Murphy and Skylar Irving, along with defenders Nicole Gosling and Kati Tabin. cont.

No players from Minnesota are reportedly affected.

The reserve players — along with Jade Downie-Landry, who was not originally expected to play tonight — were ready to suit up.

That means Tamara Gianquinto and Nadia Mattivi could have filled in on defense, while Maya Labad and JDL could have replaced two of the three absent forwards.

In other words, Montreal still had enough healthy players to ice a lineup of 12 forwards and six defenders.

With the expansion to Vegas, we're now no longer the most hated team!

If we lose Curl to the expansion draft I can finally tell other queer people I like the Frost without getting shoved into a locker woo!

Consider the following...

Imagine a world where:

A member of the Frost (perhaps She Who Will Go Unnamed) blatantly and obviously spears a member of the Victoire, and not only doesn't get a spearing call but gets no call whatsoever... and then she scores the GWG.

Then, the Frost get to have the deciding game five delayed just for them for confusing and inexplicable reasons.

Then, up 2-1 with 5 minutes left, the Frost commit the most obvious and egregious tripping and then cross checking penalties imaginable, and neither get called, while, let's say in this imaginary universe, the Boston Fleet are in attendance because they have already clinched their ticket to the championship series.

And the entire time the announcers are glazing the Frost and talking as if they are guaranteed victors.

Imagine.

How pissed would r/PWHL be? How salty would r/hockey be?

Frosty hot take: It’s time to embrace being the villain

I think this is such a great time for the PWHL. Gone are the days of “I hope everyone just has fun.” Now we’re the villains, and I say we don’t fight it.

I think britta curls twitter history is horrendous, but I can’t lie, seeing people calling for her head and spamming about her in every single thread on r/PWHL makes me happy because it’s real lore, real sports fandom, real drama.

We are the New England patriots of the PWHL, they hate us cuz the ain’t us. 😈 ❄️ threepeat incoming

Who do you want the Frost to draft with their 1st round pick?

One of the only silver linings for Minnesota being out earlier now is that their 1st round pick will be a little higher than if they won the championship. It’s looking like they’ll either pick 5th if the league dosent let the expansion teams pick ahead of them or 9th if the league does.

Based off the rankings https://thehockeynews.com/womens/pwhl/2026-pwhl-draft-rankings-april-top-100

It looks like some of the following players in Minnesotas range are:

Nelli Laitenen - defenceman - u of Minnesota

Kirsten Simms - forward - Wisconsin - U.S. gold medalist

Lacey Eden - forward- Wisconsin

Emma Peschel - defence - Ohio State

Issy Wunder - forward - Princeton

Sydney Morrow - defence - u of Minnesota

- Also, even though it would be hard and unlikely as she’s ranked 2nd/3rd overall is the Frost could possibly try to somehow trade up to get Abbey Murphy as she’s definitely a “Frost” type of player to a fault as she plays like Curl but with more talent. Plus she’s obviously close with Taylor Heise and the other U.S. national team members on Minnesota

- it’s obvious the frost are going to lose at least 1-2 of either Pannek, Coyne, Stecklein, Zumwinkle, Cooper through the expansion period with how expansion teams can offer mandatory EFO offers for $100k that players have to sign. It’s going to hurt but it might impact their draft plans

What's next for Frost Fans:

The weather is beautiful in the twin cities this week. Local Frost fans might find themselves frolicking through spring flowers or basking in the glorious sun. Hockey season is over, but summer is beginning, and that's personally a W for me.

But if you find yourself looking for your next Frost hockey fix, here is what you can look forward to:

Somehow they are able to have the Walter Cup Finals with out us? Didn't know they could do that. Watch it or no, PWHL hockey will conclude next week. Game 5 is still TBD, but Game 4 is scheduled for 5/22

May 28th is when expansion teams will be able to start signing players. Frost can protect 3 signed players. We can't lose more than 4 players during this window, but those 4 losses will likely be heartbreaking. Honestly, I don't have a great grasp on how the Expansion Not Draft works this year, but I expect to be coping with some ice cream treats and long, introspective walks.

The PWHL Draft and End of Year Awards is happening in Detroit June 16 & 17. There will be lots of excitement as we see our new rookies and watch the new expansion teams take shape. See all the players that have declared here: https://www.thepwhl.com/en/news/2026/may/12/2026-pwhl-draft-eligibility-list-features-record-number-of-player-declarations

Da Beauty League is back! No official dates posted yet, but their Instagram has confirmed there will be a 2026 season. For those unfamiliar, Da Beauty League is made up of NCAA and pro players and takes place Wednesday evenings at Braemar Arena. There are two men's games and one women's each week. It's low stakes, has some fun rule changes, and is a good way to cool down and enjoy some hockey over the summer. Based on last year, games should start early July.

PWHL 2026-2027 will probably start in November. This time, with 12 teams! That's DOUBLE what we started with. That means more games, more goalies, more fun! And hopefully, more Walter Cups in Minnesota.

we will be doing a little bit of tweaking rules and such on the sub this summer. after the draft, I'll make a "State of the Sub" post for feedback on new rules and formatting. for now, be good, please don't go to other teams subs and chirp, and enjoy some warm weather

Thank you Frost community (from a new-ish fan)

Went to a game on a whim during a time when grief felt insurmountable. I couldn't remember the last time I had actual real fun. Unfortunately for my wallet, hockey has taken over my life now, but wow! It is so good to have something to cheer for & our GIRLS. What a team :')

The toxicity in the league has really been bringing me back down, but I've decided I'm being a dumb stupid idiot if I let online hate ruin something good for me! I'm happy in our chilly little corner of the world. Excited for what our girls have in store for us next season and can't wait to see MTL lose.

Thank you all for making it so easy to feel at home in this space. Thank you for the loon jerseys and pride gear. Thank you for being such a warm and welcoming community during such dark times (can't say that about the rest of the PWHL lol)

Does the Professional Women's Hockey League think we're idiots? [Patrick Lapraude]

I know the title is a little over the top, but I thought there were a couple really good points in his article.

- The decision was made to cancel the game and reporters were finding out at least 90 minutes before the announcement. That also was at least 15 minutes before the reserve players for Montreal that would have been filling in for the sick players were informed.

- He estimates a couple hundred thousand dollars that this is going to cost the league

- The last point I thought was interesting which is something that has made me question what they were thinking is the fact that it was about 5 hours later when they decided to move the game to today instead of later. What changed in that time?

Hotdish > Poutine

This sign at the game got me wondering, how do y'all make your tater tot hotdish? I saw Governor Walz posted his recipe like a year ago and it was all wacky. In the last couple of years we have been using bison instead of beef.
