The league and media have at times said that they are close to finalizing expansion agreements with municipalities or are “90% there.” Since the league is centrally owned, what exactly needs to be figured out to finalize these deals beyond signing a tenant deal with an arena?
Are there other infrastructure needs? And if so what? It feels not to complicated given that they are expanding to places with existing high level hockey teams and systems in place to accomodate them.
Is it arranging a founding corporate partner such as Ally in Detroit?
Are they seeking incentives from the city?
Or something else entirely?
