Lets get an E-PL11, same size as EPL5/6, with 20mp sensor, PDAF and 3-axis IBIS!

m43 was always a victim of the right tech at the wrong time.

But the time for small cameras is now. Lets go back to a small body for the E-PL series. But don't compromise on features, like autofocus, when you don't need to. Lets get 2 dials and a joystick, the flip up selfie screen, and a new sensor with PDAF.

3-axis IBIS seems to take up less space, but I'd honestly go for no IBIS if it meant keeping the camera this small.

OM Lineup:

  1. PEN-Lite - Small and compact as possible, no EVF, 20mp sensor, PDAF
  2. PEN - PEN-F sized, EVF + IBIS, still small, 20mp sensor, PDAF
  3. OM-5 - EVF + IBIS + Weather Sealing, 20mp sensor, PDAF
  4. OM-3 - Premium, retro, weather sealed, top of the line features, stacked sensor, PDAF
  5. OM-1 - Premium, large body with every possible feature, stacked sensor, PDAF

OM-D E-M5 III vs OM-5: Worth the extra?

I currently have an E-M10 IIIs and while it's brilliant, I find the contrast autofocus really weak (I don't do many landscapes and architecture). I'm looking for an upgrade to PDAF, but want to keep the portability of E-M10. I can get an E-M5III for $520 or the OM-5 for $750. Is the extra $230 worth it, really? I mainly do street, portraits, pets and macro.

Severe GAS cleanup: Keep the OM-5 for hiking, or consolidate into Fuji X-T5?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently dealing with severe GAS. Lately, I’ve been buying and reselling cameras like there’s no tomorrow. I guess my brain is just compensating for the lack of actual shooting time by compulsively buying gear. But I really want to break this cycle and settle down.
After all this wandering, here is my current lineup:
Ricoh GR IIIx (An absolute keeper for EDC/street)
Fuji X-T30 II (Definitely selling this one)
OM System OM-5
My main use cases are travel, mountain hiking, and some street photography.
Here is my dilemma: I love the OM-5 for hiking, but I hate managing multiple systems. I’m torn between keeping the OM-5 as my main outdoor/travel body, or selling both the X-T30 II and the OM-5 to buy a Fujifilm X-T5 to have a single, weather-sealed system alongside my Ricoh.
For those who hike or travel with the OM-5, would I deeply regret moving to an X-T5 in terms of weight, size, and weather sealing? Or is the X-T5 good enough to be my "final choice" and end my GAS for good?
Looking forward to your insights!

Upgrading by downscaling (E-3 to OM-5ii)

I've inherited an old Olympus collection ~10 years ago. Wasn't appreciating it back then, but I have gotten more and more into taking photos with the old and heavy cameras while traveling.

Finally pulled the trigger on an upgrade and looking forward on taking the small and light OM-5 on my future adventures. After trying it out, I can confirm that there are some improvements in 20 years of camera development...

omachrome - simple mobile app to save and upload OM-3 colour recipes

It might not be for everyone, and I know you can add recipes to your OM-3 via the OI.share app over wifi or on a computer via OM Workspace.

But I wanted something a bit simpler and a slightly different user experience, so I've created an iOS app for saving and uploading OM-3 colour recipes with your iPhone over USB-C.

I'm also keen to not replicate the features of om-recipes.com as I think they are doing great work and I'd hate to divide the community for no reason, so I've kept the scope of this tightly around storing recipes on your device and the upload function.

Sadly I haven't cracked the white balance issue yet, but working on figuring something out.

If you have an iPhone on a recent iOS version, I'd welcome testers to put it through its paces. You can leave me feedback via the more tab in the app.

Last year's favorites

Finally sharing some shots from my E-M10 II / 14-42mm (non-pancake). Critique is welcome, but mostly just happy to be part of the community!

Olympus E-PM2 - first few hours

Today I received my order for an old E-PM2 with broken IBIS and the 14-42 Olympus for a decent price. Coming from Fuji APSC, I always been skeptical of MFT and smaller sensors in general because of the physical limitations and lower resolution/detail.

However, since even the smallest pancake setups for Fuji aren’t truly pocketable (like jacket inner-pocket kind), I thought I’d give this a try. So far I’m actually quite impressed by this old 16MP sensor. I shot this photo using the internal monochrome film art mode with some edits afterwards...

I guess MFT has a new member among its own^^

Which other pancake lenses would you recommend me?

OM System keeps blowing me away! Got a lifer without breaking a sweat! 😅

So I was at biggest week and got to play with the om5 markii and the 100-400 mark ii. They had a booth with loaner gear. It was really light and compact which was cool but the fact that it’s an 800mm equivalent was DOPE. These little warblers jump around in the bushes so fast but it was easy to lock on and photograph. This isn’t even their nicest camera for birds but I really was impressed with how well it did. I just just quick edit on my iPad so no denoising or anything and I will definitely be picking one up since I’m done dealing with the weight of full frame. This was my first blackburnian warbler so I was SO pumped

Wanting a budget wildlife/telephoto lens for my OM-1, trying to decide between Oly 75-300 or the Pana 100-300. Any input appreciated!

As the title says, I want to branch out into wildlife and birds, dont want to splurge for a big boy lens yet just something to test the waters and take with me on my hikes

Considering the Oly 75-300ii or the Panasonic 100-300ii

Any ideas?

My first

E-m5 mark ii. Waiting on a lens. 14-42 (non pancake) until I get used to the settings.
