Quick question for anyone who has attended both dress rehearsal and the live show:

When Colin and Che do the joke swap on Weekend Update, how much of it is planned in advance? Do they have any idea what the other has written, or is it genuinely a complete surprise?

If it is a surprise, how does that work logistically? Do they prepare multiple versions of jokes for dress and live, or is there some kind of run through before dress rehearsal? or are they just skipping the joke swap part completely during the dry run?

Also, slightly unrelated, but Che is always so ruthless in these segments. Has there ever been a moment where he gets thrown off too? Would be hilarious to see him on the receiving end for once. Maybe surprise Che by bringing in Scarlet Johansson to read the swapped jokes or have him read his set of jokes in front of her. Not sure whether they have already done this, but feel like it would be super fun!

I organized an AMA/Q&A with Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, also known as the comedy-sketch group BriTANicK on Youtube. They co-wrote and co-directed the new Hulu stoner-comedy Pizza Movie that premiered at SXSW and is out today. It stars Gaten Matarazzo, Sean Giambrone, Lulu Wilson, Jack Martin, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Marcus Scribner, Caleb Hearon, Sarah Sherman, Justin Cooley, and Daniel Radcliffe.
