Maybe it’s finally time to replace them.

/s, of course.

Knipex Cobra XS used and abused (mostly abused) for 3 years. Covered in mud, what I wish was mud, gas, soldering flux once, various cleaners and greases. Scrubbed, re-oiled, run through the wash a few times.

They still work like new.

*edit*

Sorry, gang. The title was a joke! I should have known better than to put "/s" in the body and expect that to make it obvious. Totally on me. I just thought it was neat how rough and used they're looking in contrast with the comments about how most folks knipex XS look pristine (Not that there's anything wrong with being careful with your tools!)

Never going back

I’ve had the cobras for about a year and love them, just got the wrench pliers. Game changer.

Laser cleaning my knipex (2nd round) 😎

Ok guys, this time I remembered to take before-and-after photos. The missing spots were left on purpose so you can see the differences 🙂 pretty good, uh? 👀

Laser cleaning knipex pliers

After 5 years of daily use, I tried to clean my knipex 125 pliers with laserpecker 4. I'm impressed with the result and wanted to share it with you guys :)

Daily drove these cobras as an appliance repair technician for many years. Now I'm a union laborer and my tool bag has more shovels than pliers so they don't get much use anymore. I will say though that if I have a job to do, I know I can rely on my knipex to get the job done.

I've been carrying a 70 06 140 in my pocket at work for many years. It's always bothered me that a burr is left behind when cutting cable ties. I do have a flush trim cutter (Super Knips), but it's often in my toolbox since the 70 06 140 is more versatile and always with me.

The larger the bevel of a side cutter, the larger the burr it leaves behind. Above is a comparison between a 70 06 140 and an X-Cut 73 06 160.

The 70 26 160 has a particularly small bevel. Does anyone have experience with whether this is small enough to cut cable ties without leaving a sharp burr?

If so, a (non-existent) 70 26 140 would be a dream come true.

Hi!

I recently picked up a pair of KNIPEX Snipe Nose Side Cutting Pliers and noticed a crack after just a few uses. I can feel it with my nail. I'm attaching photos and hoping someone here can help me figure out whether this is a counterfeit product or a manufacturing defect.

UPD: After sanding the area, it turned out to be just small corrosion.

I just picked up these 3 babies. Thinking about returning the 110mm cutter on the left as the blades are identical size as the 125. Keep all 3 or return the one on the left?

If you’ve used the previous version, this breaks down what actually changed.

Happy to answer any questions.
