New house- where to start with this kitchen!!

Hello everybody 🙂

We just purchased this house and this kitchen needs some updates..

The flooring is junky and ugly in my opinion.

The island situation is very strange with the way it’s angled. There is a dishwasher there.

Looking for general ideas for where to take this!

Not looking to spend a ton right away- just to get it to a place where it feels cozy and well put together.

Any ideas are extremely appreciated 😀

Where would you put the bed in this toddler room?

I’m trying to layout my toddlers room but I just have such FOBO. Was hoping to hear outside opinions. I drew the way the room looks as best as I could. It’s definitely not perfectly scale but pretty close. This place has floor vents so idk how to work around that. We bought her a Montessori floor bed (it’s on the way) and at the moment I just have a 2 drawer dresser and a 9 cubby hole thing. Not a big fan of the furniture but I plan to get more to make the space functional and cute. We had a small apartment before this house so that’s why I have just those two things. Besides the crib that she used to have of course but she’s outgrown that. But I’m mainly curious where it makes most sense to put the bed. We got her a full size mattress. Any other opinions on how you would furnish the room welcome. ◡̈ I thought I would put it on that 85in wall to the left but i have no clue how I’d layout dressers. They’d overlap the window or overcrowd the right wall. My husband says to put it on the wall to the right all the way in the corner but it would cover one of the vents I think, and isn’t it bad to have it right in the door way? I know I’m taking this way serious but I’m an overthinker lol.

Help! Not sure what wood matches

I'm putting in hardwood floors in my apartment and can't decide which wood (if either). One looks too gray and the other looks too warm? The rest of the apartment has slightly different shades/tones of dark wood, so I was hoping that a light wood would give it a better contrast.

Help with studio!

Hi - moving into a smaller studio: 360 sqft.
I’d love some ideas for how to organize it!
I was thinking: a nice sleeper couch, a tv (where??) and a table or a mobile island near the kitchen.
Open to any suggestions! TIA

No idea what to do with empty wall!

Sadly I am not a fan of gallery walls, which is what friends have suggested to me. I thought about a big bookshelf but that will still leave a chunk of the wall sad and empty. I plan on swapping the shelf my tv is on for a small dresser so it doesnt look so sad, and putting up some floor to ceiling curtains. I also would like to bring a bit more color to the room! I really like my bar, and want the same vibe on the other side

What can be done here without having to renovate?

This is downstairs half bath which we use most during the day.
I cannot afford renovation at this time (probably not for few years anyway)

I can’t figure out what to do with this! I thought id paint the walls but can’t decide what color, or how to decorate, or what to do with it!

It has this awkward 6 feet of empty space when you walk in, then the ugly vanity, then the hideous sink and the mirror!!!

Ugh i hate everything in here 😞

Awkward Living Room Layout

Hello! I just moved into this apartment a little bit ago and I can't figure out how to layout the furniture in the living room. The couch and TV area are so far from each other.

The only thing I can think to do would be bringing the couch up to around the left window area and putting the chair somewhere else? And then having something behind the couch? I would like it to be cozier, for sure. I'm looking into getting a TV, rug, coffee table, and better side tables once finances allow for that. I'm also going to put up some curtains as well.

Thanks :) any suggestions are appreciated!

Decorating my bedroom for the first time. What to put over bed & fireplace? Rug suggestions? Curtains? Help!

Recently painted, got a bed frame and a few marketplace finds (dresser/lane chest/mirror). I know I need art but I’m stuck on what to get and placement. Any suggestions on what to put over the bed and fireplace? The hanging light over the fire place will be replaced with a new light (also still deciding). I have a chair and new bedding on the way. I want a rug but can’t make up my mind on what looks best. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you!

Help me rearrange

Does anyone have ideas on the best way to rearrange my living room? My goal is to not have the tv face the windows anymore as there’s a really bad glare. The biggest issues is that the TV doesn’t mount on the wall with the windows because it’s cement behind the drywall

Half office, tiny space, a lot of stuff

I’m honestly a little embarrassed posting this 😅 I love making my space my own, but the rest of my house is so organized and this half of my office has kind of become a dumping ground.

I’m aware this is probably too much stuff, but my house is only 612 sq ft, I am a collector and this is where I do all of my crafts. The desk can transition from sitting to standing. Only caveats- I have to stay on my half of the room so can’t move my boyfriends desk (the L-shaped on the other half of the office), and only have one outlet right under the far right window to plug in my pc setup, but able to get a longer extension power strip. Also could potentially put the walking pad in the closet, though it is nice to have out so I’m inclined to use it more often. Don’t have a desk chair but can get one.

Flooring suggestion for sunken living room

I currently have regular pile beige carpeting in my sunken living room, but it’s 14 years old and I’m looking to upgrade. I am thinking of going with hardwood flooring or some type of carpeting.

The hallway and kitchen area adjacent to this living area has darker hardwood flooring. I don’t know if I should match that area and use a colored carpet on it or go with some sort of different wall to wall carpeting.

Thank you for any input or guidance.

Not sure what to do for layout in this studio… I’ll have a full size mattress, tv, want a couch, and will need a table to do work on… may get a coffee table of some sorts? Just want to separate my sleeping space from living space but don’t want it to be crowded since I am limited on space… help please!

How can I make my room look more aesthetic?

I'm gonna be changing the bathroom rug to a new one and prolly gonna add a full mirror along with a very short table in front of it to keep my makeup and skincare stuffs. What else can I do?

Here are some of my ideas:

A hanging fern on the wardrobe top (confused about what colour to choose)

A memory grid and a couple of posters that suits my aesthetic

I'm also thinking of getting a spotlight lamp with which I can click good pictures when I get ready but still confused if I should go for it.

Also a bit confused if I should go for a floor rug and if yes then which colour

Any ideas are welcomed in the dm.

EXTREMELY NARROW Living Room- Please Send Help!!!

I am looking to improve/decorate my living room and it is extremely narrow, including a path of travel. Any advice on the layout and furniture pieces i can realistically use here? I like to watch TV and have some friends over for movie nights. I also have a ton of plants and a keyboard (currently) at the front window. Plants will stay/need specific shelves or something... keyboard can stay, move, or be removed.

The path of travel, lack of coffee table, placement of furniture and everything in here has me stumped.... any advice would be great!! Happy to entertain weird shapes and odd angles

...

I am also considering color drenching the space to make it feel cozy and to calm down some of the craziness that is happening at the stair-wall. Any advice on what I need to consider before i color drench my whole space in a medium-deep teal? Going for an art-deco feel and may change out lights (and potentially backsplash) in the future.

Table regret

Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster. We just got this table for our banquette seating and I can’t decide if I like it or not... but maybe I’ve just been staring at it for too long?!

The dimensions are perfect for the seating area, and it’s really sturdy.

We are also adding an upholstered back and cushions, which will have some sort of pattern on them, and that will obviously change the space as well.

Any advice is welcome!

1999 Kitchen

Wondering how to make this space feel warmer and have more depth. Have to keep the black appliances and tile floors. Do not want to paint cabinets.

Thinking of doing wallpaper under the trim and leave the ceiling alone, updating hardware/lights, changing counters and backsplash. Would appreciate any suggestions!

(Rug and items in photo are previous owners, would not be staying).
