i just found this in my grandfathers attic is it worth much?

After using the D3300 for 10 years, I finally decided to buy the A7 V with the SIGMA 24–70mm F2.8 DG DN II.
Although I had owned the D3300 for a decade, I had barely touched it in the past few years because of its terrible autofocus, which feels light-years behind even modern smartphone cameras.
I had been going back and forth between the A6700, the A7C II, and the A7 V for quite some time, but I eventually decided in favor of the A7 V for the following reasons:
Some of you may argue that I could have gotten similar bokeh with an APS-C camera and an f/1.8 50mm lens. That is true. But here, I am getting that with a zoom lens. Besides, I can always consider buying an 85mm f/1.4 lens in the future. There is no real equivalent to that on APS-C.
This was a big purchase for me, especially because I am not a professional. I am just a casual hobbyist.
But the strongest reason for me to invest in a camera like this was very simple:
I love cameras because they can literally capture a moment in time. You can look at that moment 20 years from now. It is a window into the past. That is incredible. And if I am going to capture a moment in time, why wouldn’t I want to capture it in as much detail as I can afford?

Im just curious. Glass is obviously important, but besides this, what made you buy into your current system? Ergonomics, build quality, color science, technology?

I’ve just inherited this stunning collection of cameras. I’m just working out which, if any are in working order and if I can access the right film for them. My favourite is a mint condition Kodak Junior Six-20 from around 1940, complete with original box and instructions. It’s never been used! It still has the paper in the film compartment. I’ve been reading up on respooling a 120 film to use in these.
I’d appreciate any advice/tips!

I was doing an experiment to see if I could measure the actual speed of the shutter on my Sony A7iv. I have a very bright green LED shining onto a sheet of paper in from the camera lens. The LED can be set to oscillate at either 500Hz for measuring silent shutter or 5000hz for measuring the mechanical shutter.
All three of these photos were taken with the same aperture, ISO and shutter speed with just the shutter type being changed, electronic shutter, electronic first curtain shutter and full mechanical shutter.
The first image makes sense, the banding is clear and there is about 33 lines at 500Hz so the readout speed of the silent shutter is about 66ms.
The second image also makes sense and shows banding, it's using an electronic first curtain shutter there are 18 lines at 5000Hz so about 3.6ms for the shutter to close, you can even see that the shutter accelerates as it moves across the sensor, with the lines being closer together at the top and further apart at the bottom.
The third image doesn't make sense, I would expect to see well-defined bright and dark bands. This was taken at 1/8000 as all the other images were and the LED frequency was 5000Hz. There should be a small slit moving across the sensor between the first and second mechanical shutters but the image shows almost no banding. Does anyone know why that's happening?
I just bought a Canon r50 and checked its counterparts from other brands are like twice as expensive. Is there a catch with Canon r50 or Canon is just a cheap brand.

I got this amazing in working condition Panasonic IQ vhs camcorder ! I just ordered a tapeless video converter to start shooting. However this battery gives me roughly 30 mins of shooting. If anyone can point me in the right direction. I’d even use generic batteries too if it’s a thing. Thank you.

Any knowledge on how to get it repaired
Hello I recently just bought this Sony cyber shot w-200 with two 16gb micro sd cards but it’s only letting me take 35 photos and once I take more than that it shows “file error”, I try formatting again but it was still the same. How can I fix it?

My grandad is a professional photographer, he sold me his old canon 5d mkii and gave me advice on what lens to get, this is what I ended up with and I’m super happy. I don’t know all that much about cameras but I know he set it up for me and now it’s up to me to learn everything which I’m excited for. Are there any tips and tricks you guys have? TIA :)
Ik the canon g7x is popular from social media, but the rise in price for how old it is is not worth it to me. I'd like a portable camera that's able to take nice quality pictures of buildings, landscapes, people, etc mainly for traveling, just wanna capture memories in good quality. Budget ideally less than $800 or so. Any recommendations?

so this is my father's camera he bought when he was young like 30-35 age and right now he is 48 and this camera has been sitting ideal since than and haven't been even charged after that. this is SONY CYBER-SHOT DSC W-530. and it has a LITHIUM ION N TYPE NP-BN1 BATTERY.
I have uploaded the pics of camera , battery ( it isn't swollen or puffy and looks & feels flat ) , and the charger that i have ordered.
what are the chances this will start working once i charge the Li-ion NP-BN1 Battery ?
Hey guys, I recently dug up an old Fujifilm FinePix (pretty sure it's an AV200 or AV230 based on the 14MP and 3x lens). It still powers on and takes photos, but as you can see in the pics, the LCD screen is totally destroyed and the outer plastic of the battery door has snapped off.
Does anyone happen to have a dead one of these sitting in a drawer they'd be willing to part with? I'm hoping to harvest the screen and the battery door to fix mine up.
I'm based in India, so I'd cover whatever the shipping costs are. If anyone knows a good source for finding these specific parts online besides hunting through eBay, I'd appreciate the advice too!
Hi,
This is very odd as it’s my first Reddit post and I never tend to do this but I’m quite desperate and maybe delusional. My camera got stolen from a car on November 8, 2025. Since then, I have reported the crimeand given the crime reference number to my local cash converters and CEX. I have registered my camera and lens on stolencamerafinder and lenstag. Not as much anymore but I would track Facebook marketplace and Vinted and eBay. The police surprisingly managed to find the guy (who turned out to be homeless and was well known for crimes and would steal just about everything random even cards and blankets) so it makes me think he could’ve only sold it somewhere close by. I’m aware it’s been a couple months however given his proximity to where I live I was surprised I didn’t immediately find my camera the day he stole it. I didn’t expect the police would find him let alone sentence him. I live in Leeds if that helps and he committed his crimes in Leeds and Bradford. Is there any other thing I can do to try and find my camera it’s extremely valuable to me. A shed was found very close to me where he stored a bunch of stolen stuff but my camera wasn’t there (no surprise). If there’s a way to track down the last photo taken on it that would be helpful.
Paid for 2-day shipping on a camera order from Panasonic (March 26).
It’s now day 10+ and the item hasn’t even shipped. Tracking is dead.
Support just keeps giving me the same scripted response: “we’ll email you.” No timeline, no real help.
This is equipment I needed for work, so now I’m literally losing money because of this delay.
At what point is this just considered failure to deliver?
Anyone else run into this with Panasonic? Trying to decide if I should just chargeback and move on.

Hello. I need some help as I'm getting the itch to upgrade my camera, but I don't actually know much about whats available these days.
Probably about 15 years ago, my dad acquired a Nikon D5300 through his work, which he let me use when I was first getting into photography. Fast forward to now and its still the only camera I'm using. I just never had the money to start really investing into photography, and the Nikon took acceptable photos so I was okay with just hanging on to that. I still don't necessarily "have the money", hence the large budget range, but I think its time to get a meaningful upgrade to my hardware.
I like to take a wide range of photos. Down the line, I know I'd have to invest more into various lenses to suit my needs. But overall, I would just like to have a "pick it up and go" type of camera that I can take on a hike, or out to an event, or to take family photos/portraits, or even to do night time landscapes. Image detail is very important to me, so I think that means a larger sensor is what I'm looking for, but that comes with a higher price as well. Although I feel I can handle a camera very well, my knowledge on the hardware side of things is pretty limited. Again, I just never really saw myself buying a brand new camera, so I just made due with what I had and didn't worry about specs.
I think, based on the haphazard comparing of different brands and models, that the Fuji X-T30 iii should fit my needs well paired with the right lenses. Its hard to tell without some real opinions though. Am I trying to spend more than I need to for my use cases? Should I spend just a little bit more in order to get something I'll really be satisfied with for the years to come? There seems to be so much out there. As much as I do love photography, I don't see myself realistically being able to afford a new $1500-$2000 camera every year or two so I'd really like this purchase to last.
Any help is appreciated!
Hello so Im just new here and I literally just made this account to ask photographer's opinion about the olympus Mju II. I've seen alot of videos online about this film camera being great and overall still kind of useful til this day if you're into film photogragphy. Now i would like to know if its still worth to go for that camera (Im sure its a little pricey cuz its considered vintage nowadays) And what do u guys recommend alternative for that film cam. Im new to photography and I just want my camera to be point and shoot like less hassle.
I always wanted to get into cameras, i've been using the iphone 17 for a while but I wanted to get something different mostly for when I travel and memories. (I already used up like 200gb of my phone just from photos)I really really love the colours of the gr3 and how portable it is. I want it to be something I know I will bring around easily n often so definitely not a big camera (pocketable size) eSo Ricoh is my top choice from what I've seen but I'm open to suggestions!
My budget is around $1600aud and I'm in Australia. I'm not too fussed about not being able to film videos as I have a phone for that already but it's a nice feature to have. I want to buy a camera that is going to be at least a pretty significant or noticeable upgrade from my iPhone cameras (I've had iphone 14 Pro and iphone 17). I mostly take pictures of scenery, food and pets so more point and shoot stuff.
I also looked at canon g7x mark iii and sony zv-e10 for similar size and price point as well. Thank you for any suggestions!
