$3000 worth of items to be destroyed by DHL because of Buyee’s incompetence?

original thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/Buyee/comments/1szjh1r/used_buyee_again_after_a_customs_debacle/

This is STILL going on. Please take this as a warning.

Buyee has done nothing to rectify this issue and DHL has just notified me that their invoices are non-compliant and it is a possibility these items will be destroyed.

they’re currently wracking up daily storage fees because Buyee is completely incapable of shipping something correctly.

please don’t use this company. they won’t help you

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my recent experience with Buyee.

I bought a video game console on Mercari through Buyee, and during checkout I selected all the available options: inspection, reinforced packaging, everything.

When the package arrived in my country, I was already surprised to see that the console was just wrapped in a thin shipping plastic with no real protection.

Then came the worst part: the console didn’t even work.

I immediately contacted Buyee support, and their response was basically: “Not our problem. We can’t contact the seller after the purchase.”

Faced with a complete lack of support and no attempt at an amicable resolution, I opened a PayPal dispute right away. After 3 weeks of back and forth, PayPal finally closed the case in my favor and issued a full refund

Honestly, I’m relieved, but pretty disappointed with Buyee’s handling of the situation.

Just a heads up for anyone considering using their service.

Deceptive listing from seller and Buyee declining action

Hi all,

I will raise this issue to public opinion as Buyee seems to think I don't have a case here.

I purchased the following 3ds which was listed as "Fully functional, beautiful condition", "no noticeable scratches" and "operation confirmed and cleaned":
https://jp.mercari.com/item/m35541796558

And received the following:
https://imgchest.com/p/wl7lddxp6yx

Not only are they obviously different, but what's more troubling is the seller has then reused the images for a new listing here to dupe another buyer into thinking they're purchasing a high quality system at a +30% price premium:
https://jp.mercari.com/en/item/m98769762316

Buyee's response is as follows:

we apologize that after investigation we are not able to arrange a refund for you as the following is not covered by the plans.

------------------------------------------
Upon investigation, we found that the seller is using similar photos for many of their listings.
Therefore, we cannot verify the actual condition of the product, and as such, we cannot guarantee its accuracy.
We regret to inform you that we cannot offer compensation in this matter.

Damaged Item, Refunded but warned never again

I recently purchased a Denon turntable under the Standard plan to replace my modern unit which was passed on to a friend just getting into vinyl. This table was listed as tested for full funtionality by the seller, not a "junk", "for parts", "untested, so good luck to you" -type auction.

Upon arrival I saw a fairly large gash in the box and immediately had a bad feeling. Removing the (admittedly extensive) packaging showed a gap between the two expanding foam pieces where something very hard had struck the corner of the front metal bezel and veneered wood underneath, causing significant damage. I contacted support and made a refund claim. About two weeks later I was awarded a full refund (including shipping fees), however they also noted this verdict was "an exception" and that a refund for a similar situation would not be honored in the future. When I asked why that was, I got a regurgitated message with no explanation other than a vague list of excluded item categories. The message stated:

"Regarding your inquiry about our plans coverage, please kindly understand that if an item is listed with any of the indicated tags or categories, we would not be able to compensate since the quality or condition of the item cannot be guaranteed. This would also apply to items listed with terms such as Retro items (レトロ品) or Vintage items (ビンテージ品). Therefore, in order to make sure that the item will be eligible for compensation in case of damage during shipping, we strongly recommend that you confirm the item description in detail."

Mind you, "retro" nor "vintage" were mentioned anywhere in the listing, and I am making a refund claim not for mechanical fault/failure, but for a significant amount of damage inccured due to poor shipping. I understand they don't guarantee functionality - I wouldn't expect them to as a simple proxy. I won't waste my time trying to get more of an explanation from support, but be aware, the standard protection plan seems quite loose in what it will and won't cover, and you might be left in the lurch if something goes awry with shipping, especially when purchasing something they can deem as "retro" or "vintage".

My package is stuck

Hi!

I sent a package on March 28th via EMS. However, since March 29th, I haven’t received any updates. The latest tracking status is “Dispatch from outward office of exchange.”

I’ve been checking the tracking frequently on both the Japan Post website and the Spanish postal service website, but both still show the same status.

I’ve also asked Buyee to start an investigation.

Are you experiencing any issues with your shipments?

And if your package took longer than usual, how long did it take from the shipping date until it arrived in your country?

I want to believe that my package is stuck in dispatch mainly because of the current situation in the Middle East (and now I can add Golden Week to the mix).

Sorry if my English isn’t good but it’s not my native language.

Paid insurance on expensive item that got damaged and buyee are saying otherwise

I’ve had a really positive experience with buyee so far but with my last order I purchased a more expensive item; I paid for the $5 insurance fee and $3 extra protective packaging. My invoice clearly says this. Unfortunately this was the one item in my order that arrived badly damaged. I emailed buyee for assistance and they’ve told me I only paid for inspection when I’ve clearly paid for insurance; I have misread something or what? I’ve emailed them back proof because I’m certainly confused and unhappy about the situation.

Never received my package from Speedx

SpeedX marked my package as “delivered” but I never received anything.

The driver took pictures as “proof” of delivery, but never knocked on my door or notified me they were outside. I checked almost immediately after getting the notification and there was no package anywhere.

What makes this even more suspicious is that package theft basically never happens in my neighborhood. At this point I honestly think the driver may have stolen it or falsely marked it as delivered.

I already contacted SpeedX and the merchant (Buyee), but this whole situation is ridiculous. Has anyone else had issues with SpeedX doing fake deliveries or packages mysteriously disappearing after being marked delivered? Also is there anything i can do about this?

Consolidation Question

So I bought a figure that comes with the box, it’s less than 1kg. If I were to buy little lightweight plushies (50-100g) and consolidate it with the figure, will it inflate the shipping cost or help it?

Because I’ve read that shipping cost is also based on the size of the packaging box, so I’m wondering if due to the difference in the size of the figure and small plushies, it’ll like, inflate the packaging size if that make sense? Or if the shipping will stay relatively the same.

Sorry if it is a dumb question, I just wanted some peace of mind before I buy the small items because I’ve only consolidated similar size items.

Seller does not ship my order and buyee doesn't want to refund

It's been 20 days since I placed this order (Apr 19) and I told the support that I wanted to refund this order since the seller is not shipping the order and they said they cannot cancel the transaction since the order is already confirmed???

So what do you want me to do? Wait for a miracle that the seller ships my order??? And if they don't? Just paid for nothing???

Other proxy service does automatic refund after 14 days, can't you do any better???

What a useless support always saying they raised my concern but no progress since I started reporting it withing 7 days of purchase.

Has Buyee said anything about tariff refunds?

- Aug 29, 2025 to Feb 23, 2026: Buyee charged a flat 15.5% duty on US shipments (IEEPA)

- Feb 20, 2026: SCOTUS ruled IEEPA tariffs unlawful. Trump replaced same day with a 10% Section 122 surcharge.

- April 20, 2026: CBP launched CAPE for IEEPA refund processing (Importer of Record only)

- April 21, 2026: Buyee switched from flat 15.5% to category duty rates per item

- May 7, 2026: Court of International Trade ruled the Section 122 10% surcharge ALSO unlawful (Burlap and Barrel v. Trump). Injunction only covers the three named plaintiffs though, so CBP is still collecting from everyone else.

What I can't find any answer on...

  1. Has Buyee said anything publicly about IEEPA refunds? Their notices page has nothing. The IOR on most US shipments is the carrier (DHL/FedEx/UPS), so technically the carrier files via CAPE, not Buyee or me. But if carriers receive refunds, does Buyee plan to pass any of that down to customers?

  2. The flat 15.5% period covered everything from leather (around 8% MFN) to synthetic apparel (often 20%+ MFN). With IEEPA 15% on top of that, the math worked out very differently by category. Was 15.5% calibrated to break even, or was the overage on low-MFN items retained?

  3. Anyone seen Buyee respond to the May 7 Section 122 ruling? Or have a plan if Section 122 gets struck down universally on appeal?

Anyone else in a similar boat? Has anyone gotten a real answer from Buyee support on any of this?

It’s a timepiece phase ii e-amusement pass card and the seller seems to have put a block on all of these proxies. I need this card. I had this card at one time but it was stolen from me just putting it down for literally 3 minutes at my first or second trip to the arcade. I need this card as a replacement.

Is there SOME sort of proxy that will buy this for me? Or can someone who lives in Japan arrange with me a deal to buy it for me, I pay you, and you ship it to me? I am pulling my hair out because absolutely no proxy service will buy it. What do I even do at this point?

Does Buyee allow you to make offers on an item?

I’m looking at an item, and when looking at the original listing (yahoo flea market) I see that the listing allows you to make an offer, but I do not see that option on buyee. Do I have any options? Any other suggestions?
