New AM, Need Advice

Hi everyone! I’m 1 month in as an external hire and I’m looking for a bit of advice. This is the first time I’ve ever done a management job like this and I feel like I’m a bit over my head. I’ve gone through AEW, AD1, AR Academy and finally doing LEW next week. Through all of this training and shadowing, I still don’t think I’m ready to run a floor by myself. I was left to run a period by myself and I felt like I was doing everything wrong. I know I’ve only been here a month and I’ll get the hang of it, but is there any advice to learning what I need to, to prepare? I also like to mention, in on the FHN shift in pick. If anyone could help walk me through certain processes maybe, I’d appreciate it. Also one more thing, I ordered the Zappos shoes and they’ve been killing my feet. What can I do to calm the foot pain/get used to all of this walking?

Am eligible for Area Manager?

I currently work as a seasonal warehouse associate as something to just keep me afloat while looking for something better. I do have a bachelor degree but it’s older and thus I don’t think I meet the criteria of university hire. As a white badge, I understand that I have to apply as an external hire. I have work experience at more corporate environments prior to working at warehouse but don’t have managerial experience, at least not by title. Do you think I would be considered for L4 role?

If not, can’t I just enroll at WGU for a quick second degree to make myself eligible for university hire?

How hard is it realistically to get hired as an Amazon Area Manager?

Hello everyone I previously worked at Amazon in fulfillment/sort centers doing roles like loading/unloading trailers, Water Spider, ICQA, packing, scanning, picking, and clearing jams. I also have correctional officer experience at a maximum security prison and I’m finishing my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Psychology this June. Would my background make me a strong candidate for Area Manager? Also, what does the hiring process/interview process usually look like and how competitive is it?

AMZL salaried leaders - when do all the targets become unattainable

I have been struggling lately with the expectations changes of this business line. The amount of targets we need to hit throughout the day has become extremely excessive. Requiring constant virtual monitoring, updating and reporting. Yet on the other hand we are expected to be present leaders for our associates, connecting with them and supporting them whilst managing all of the metrics in real time and safety first.

It's so contradictory at this point because there are too many asks. For instance, the first hour induct adherance. Make sure you induct 100-104% to plan, while we know you have 80% of your planned attendance the first hour. Make sure you stretch and hold a 5 minute start up, but make sure you have all your inductors scan a package by minute 7. But don't go into high WIP while you're still ramping to attendance. Make sure you connect with all your AAs especially the ones with icares and get those logged asap. We roll volume daily and I am being asked to include that number in my thrive now....a beautiful scare tactic when I already feel like we are all drowning out here in the operation.

What are we prioritizing any more? It seems like my list of tasks to verify has grown 3 fold from what it has been previous. My list of misses on a weekly basis has also increased. What am I supposed to put first?

How are you guys coping with all these changes? Anyone else coping with the loss of feeling accomplished occasionally? I feel defeated every day. I need to know if anyone else is feeling this way. Been with AMZL 9 years and have worked in multiple sites/states. Currently in the west region.

Area Manager process

hello all. I just have a few questions for some already hired or soon to be hired newly hired area managers for amazon. For background i am 23. I have a BA in business management and am working on a masters. I recently applied to 8 different locations in Texas for an area manager role. All of my applications say submitted for review. It’s been about 2 weeks and i haven’t heard anything. Some applications are newer than others. Is this normal or am i procrastinating the rejection emails that are coming. Any tips/advice would be appreciated as i’ve heard it’s super easy to be an AM with a degree.

Internship for Operations manager

My husband is doing a internship for operations manager through a program for military members about to get out.

Has anyone else done this and gotten a job offer? We are nervous because his internship ends in July and he leaves the military in August so we wont have alot of time for another backup plan if they dont offer him a position.

How far into the internship did you get to apply and get a job offer if one was extended to you?

Applying for Area manger.

I’m currently a Corrections Sergeant and thinking about leaving to become an Amazon Area Manager. I worked at Amazon before as an associate for 2 years, so I already know how the warehouse environment works and how demanding it can be from the floor level. I’m used to long hours, high stress situations, managing people, conflict resolution, accountability, and keeping operations running smoothly. Because of that, I feel like my background could transfer well into operations management at Amazon. For anyone who’s currently an Area Manager or has done the role before, would you recommend it? How’s the work/life balance, stress level, and overall job satisfaction? Is the pay and career growth worth it long term, or does burnout happen as fast as people say? Just looking for honest advice from people who’ve been in the role or made a similar career change. Thanks.

Back in November 2025, I accepted an L4 offer with a start date of August 2026 🤯. The wait was so long that I needed income ASAP, so in March I took a corporate office job at a bank.

Honestly, I really like my current job. I like the people, the schedule, and the overall environment. The downside is the pay isn’t the best.

Over the past few months, I’ve been reading posts here and I keep seeing people leave L4 roles or say they’re trying to get out. Is it really that bad? For anyone who’s done it, would you still recommend taking the L4 role, or should I stay where I am and keep building where I’m at now?

Transfer back to old site?

AMs, have any of you transferred sites and then wanted to go back to your old one right away? If so, were you able to do it? What was the process?

L6 - Ops Manager-Station Manager hours/days at a RSR Delivery Station

Trying to get an idea of what days/hours do L6 Ops-Station Manaers work at RSR Delivery Stations. I'm starting in June, with the building launching later in the year.

Area manager anual review

I feel like my salary is a bit low for my workload. I’m at $69,800 after being promoted internally 5 months ago. What kind of raise do people usually get at the annual review if they meet expectations? And how much of an increase comes with an L5 promotion?

I have a job offer at $38.08 with AWS. It's a stable position, and I'm trying to decide if I should take it or not. I haven't been hourly in about six years, so I'm trying to get some perspective on whether it would be worth it at this rate versus staying salary.

Has anyone who was salaried made a switch like this before?

Hello all I just went from t3 to L4. Just some quick questions.

Do I keep vacation time I’ve gathered as a 3? Also do I still get that 5 year bonus or do they turn that into like RSU
