County jail hiring process

Hey everyone,
I recently worked for a state department of corrections at a maximum security prison, but I ended up resigning after about a month because the facility was over 5 hours away from where I live and the commute living situation became financially and mentally difficult for me. I’m currently in the hiring process for a county jail closer to home. My question is: will it look bad during the interview that I only worked at state DOC for a month? I left on professional terms and the issue was mainly distance, finances, and being far from family not because I couldn’t handle the work itself.
Has anyone here been in a similar situation or interviewed candidates with short DOC experience before?
Appreciate any honest advice.

How hard is it realistically to get hired as an Amazon Area Manager?

Hello everyone I previously worked at Amazon in fulfillment/sort centers doing roles like loading/unloading trailers, Water Spider, ICQA, packing, scanning, picking, and clearing jams. I also have correctional officer experience at a maximum security prison and I’m finishing my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Psychology this June. Would my background make me a strong candidate for Area Manager? Also, what does the hiring process/interview process usually look like and how competitive is it?

Applying for Area manger.

I’m currently a Corrections Sergeant and thinking about leaving to become an Amazon Area Manager. I worked at Amazon before as an associate for 2 years, so I already know how the warehouse environment works and how demanding it can be from the floor level. I’m used to long hours, high stress situations, managing people, conflict resolution, accountability, and keeping operations running smoothly. Because of that, I feel like my background could transfer well into operations management at Amazon. For anyone who’s currently an Area Manager or has done the role before, would you recommend it? How’s the work/life balance, stress level, and overall job satisfaction? Is the pay and career growth worth it long term, or does burnout happen as fast as people say? Just looking for honest advice from people who’ve been in the role or made a similar career change. Thanks.

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a correctional officer at a maximum-security state prison and I’m in the hiring process for a county jail position. I’ve passed background and have my physical test coming up. I’m trying to prepare for the interview and was wondering if anyone has made a similar move from state DOC (especially max) to a county jail. What should I emphasize in the interview? What differences should I be aware of between max prison and county jail operations?
Anything I should avoid saying?
