Hysteroscopy for polyp removal

Hi all, I just got scheduled to get an endometrial polyp out, measuring about 5x8mm. My doc said it’s not small but also not huge. I think it’s the culprit of causing a poking pain during sex at certain angles for the last 2 years.

During my ultrasound today, she put a catheter up into my uterus after dilating me to inject a little saline in to see the polyp better. When she inflated the balloon at the end of the catheters, it must have started poking the polyp - I literally screamed. It was HORRIFIC. So painful. I yelled stop I can’t do it and she deflated it but luckily was still able to see the polyp just fine. I was not expecting how painful that was, it was terrible. So now I’m a little nervous about the hysteroscopy, she said they would knock me all the way out for it though with general which I appreciate, don’t think I could do it otherwise.

What should I expect for the surgery? Any significant pain after?? Like I said it’s just 1 medium size polyp so I’m hoping it’s a smooth process…

Thinking of dropping my insurance for now.

I’m a per diem employee at the moment (that should change by the end of the year) so I decided to pay for a private plan which started in November. I pay $250 a month with United and it’s such a shitty plan. There’s no deductible and they cover the absolute bare minimum. I need an ultrasound for an endometrial polyp to make sure it’s not growing (I’m 30 years old and a nurse and otherwise healthy) and United said they would only contribute $50 to my 2.2K bill. Was in tears on the phone with them. They also refused to cover a dime of a cyst I have on my back that’s continuing to get bigger and my dermatologist wanted to remove.

I seriously just give up. I’ve looked into the health share stuff but seems too risky and scammy. I’m at the point where I’d rather have no insurance and take the self pay rates for these things rather than paying United $250 a month for basically nothing. I will be a full time employee again hopefully by this fall and get back to regular old employer based insurance but I am so done w this shit right now. I just want these 2 procedures without draining my savings.

Are the self pay/uninsured rates really as low as people say they are? I honestly don’t know what to do.

Nurses - what’s your pay and are you actually saving anything?

I cannot decide between SF or SD. Just turned 30, newly single, been a nurse for 7 years mixed ICU and pacu. I know how over saturated the market is in both places and that it will be difficult to land a job (0% chance I’ll be taking a nights position anywhere btw). SF clearly pays substantially more. But SD is so much more my vibe and what I’m looking for, and honestly, I just wanna be by the beach and lay in the sand as much as I can atp in my life.

So to the nurses, what’s your hourly wage? Are you inpatient or outpatient? What rent can you afford? And are you actually accruing any savings? I’d absolutely love to live here but I’m so done feeling so financially stressed. I currently make $70/hour but I’m per diem and have a hard time clearing more than 20 hours a week most of the time and I also just want out of where I’m living/current situation. Staff jobs in my current town are less than $50/hour and rent is honestly similar to SD.

I’m sure this question gets asked a lot or something similar but I’d like to ask!

I’m honestly looking for a fresh start. And finally moving somewhere solely for me myself and I. I called off my engagement about 6 months ago, I moved to Montana from my home state for my relationship and it ended up failing kind of miserably after a few years. For the last 6 months I’ve been living in rural Montana in my dad’s house (he’s usually not there it’s a second home), which I’m so grateful for.I live in a particularly beautiful part of Montana and I love a lot about it. Basically I’ve been here and haven’t left yet because the stress from my previous relationship basically pushed me over the edge and I developed some health issues I’m trying now to get back in control before I make a big move/relocation. And San Francisco is calling my name. I’m born & raised in the PNW (Washington), and I love SF/bay area. I’ve lived in large cities before but have def gotten used to the slower rural live style but know I want to go back to more people my age with more of a social life. I love the rivers and mountains but I missssssssss being near/on the ocean and the luscious green I grew up around.

Anyways - how is SF for people in my demographic? I’m a nurse, have been for about 7 years. One of the bigger draws to SF was the money nurses make there. What’s your social life like? What outdoor activities do you do on your time off? How is walking everywhere? How is dating? I’m so used to driving for everything.

I’ve been browsing and from what I can tell I’d love to live maybe in sunset or Richmond district, I’d want to be close to downtown but know I wouldn’t love the city noise at night and in the morning. Thanks guys :)

Regardless of how you feel about “who did it”, the trial, the antics, etc, what documentary was done the best? I personally think OJ Made in America and The Staircase. Absolutely phenomenal. I’ve rewatched both so many times.

Add on: I know it’s not a doc, but Monsters about the Menendez brothers, was absolutely utterly phenomenal.

Edit: anyone remember the name of the doc that was about a family who had a male family friend that was abusing one of the daughters and kidnapped her for a time period but also brainwashed the mother and father and had a sexual relationship with both parents too?? That was literally the wildest ride I’ve ever been on hahaha
