Why don't more people talk about The Place Beyond the Pines?

I finally got around to watching this again last night, and it’s honestly a masterpiece that feels like it’s been forgotten. The way the story is structured into three distinct acts is so ambitious, it starts as a gritty heist film with Ryan Gosling and then evolves into this heavy, generational drama about fathers and sons. The cinematography is moody and beautiful, and the performances (especially Ben Mendelsohn) are top-tier. It’s one of those rare films that actually takes a massive risk with its narrative halfway through, and even though it didn’t smash the box office, it deserves way more respect than it gets.

How long did you space out your chemical peels to actually see results?

I've been looking into getting a series of peels, but I'm confused about timing.

Some places say every 3-4 weeks, others say wait longer, depending on your skin and how strong the peel is. I want to improve texture and acne marks without overdoing it. I came across stuff like Luxury facial treatments London to see how clinics plan it, but I'd rather hear real experiences.

If you've done multiple peels, how long did you wait between them and did it work better sticking to a schedule or giving your skin more time?

How much are you paying per gang sheet on average?

I’ve been buying DTF gang sheets for a few months now for my small t-shirt side hustle and I’m trying to get a better idea of what’s normal pricing these days.

I’ve been using a few different suppliers and right now I’m averaging around $45–$65 per full 23x16” gang sheet depending on the design density. Some cheaper ones come in around $35 - 40 but the quality drops off noticeably after a couple washes.

Curious what everyone else is paying lately for decent quality gang sheets?

I’ve been pretty happy with DTF Transfers Wholesale lately for the balance of price and reliability. What’s your current go-to and how much are you paying per sheet?

Dealing with the "renovation fatigue" before putting the house up

I've spent the last three weekends staring at the same half-painted baseboards in my hallway and I think I've finally hit a wall. i really wanted to get the place looking perfect before listing it, but honestly, the cost of materials alone right now is just stupid. every trip to the hardware store is like a $200 minimum and i'm starting to wonder if its even worth the effort.

My neighbor sold his place recently and didn't even bother with the "polishing" phase, he just sold it thru a cash buyer and was done with it in like two weeks. It's kinda tempting to just cut my losses on the DIY projects and prioritize my sanity instead. i'm ready to be in my new place already and the thought of another month of sanding drywall makes me want to scream.

Has anyone else just reached a point where they stopped caring about the "perfect" listing and just wanted the keys out of their hands?

the safe act is just torture tell me how you guys even survive here

im already two months into trying to figure out what i can build and what i cant, in new york these laws are so confusing that its easier to just buy a crossbow and not stress, but no i need that m16 vibe but also make sure the sheriff doesnt show up. i have an old lower from pre ban times, i think its legal, bought it in another state when i lived there, its serialized and all, but the fact i brought it here is a grey area, who knows maybe they shoot you for that or maybe not anyway i decided im gonna build anyway, but not standard 223, something either louder or quieter, like 300 blackout for a suppressor or 450 bushmaster for a bear if needed, but in ny i dont know about bears either

started looking where to buy an upper, local shops sell some crap for a grand, came across a site, just scrolling to see whats out there

but the problem isnt shipping its that we have our own bullshit here, like whats the rule about pistol grips? i forgot, the safe act says you cant have two features at once like detachable mag and pistol grip is trouble, but if you have a fixed mag then i guess its ok, but a fixed mag sucks you load from the top, my head hurts

maybe someone built something here that works using an upper from another state, tell me how you checked compliance, that site ar15 parts i saw they have mags for 6.8 spc and 7.62x39, but we have 10 round cap so you gotta block them thats a whole other story

so if anyone from ny is reading this and also suffering through this idiocy - hit me up, tell me if you built something based on an upper for 350 legend or 6.5 grendel, where you got parts and how you made sure you dont get locked up because your barrel weight is wrong or some other crap

p.s. sorry for the mess, just pissed that you cant build the gun you like because of politicians who dont know shit about firearms . thanks

Is renting a luxury car for a road trip actually worth it, or does the stress ruin it?

Planning a France road trip this September, and I keep going back and forth on whether renting a luxury car is actually worth it or if it just becomes stressful the whole time. Part of me really wants to drive through places like the French Riviera, Nice, Cannes, and some smaller coastal roads around Monaco in something fun instead of a basic rental. But I also know I’ll probably stress every time I park it somewhere tight or leave it overnight.

I was checking Turo and saw BMW 4 Series convertibles and Porsche Macans around €120–200/day depending on the city and dates.

For people who actually rented luxury cars in France, did it make the trip way better, or did the stress and extra cost kind of ruin it?

Adding extra off-road lights behind the grille - bad idea for beam pattern?

I live in a rural area with no street lights and lots of deer. My stock headlights are okay but when it rains or gets foggy I can barely see the sides of the road.

I want to add some extra LED lights behind the grille so they're not obvious and don't blind other drivers. Something like a slim 20-30 inch light bar mounted low

Question is - will the grille mess up the beam pattern? I'm not trying to light up the whole forest, just want better spread to the sides without adding big pod lights on the bumper.

Anyone tried this? What beam pattern worked best for you? Flood? Spot? Combo?

Also if you know any brands that make complete bolt-on kits with brackets and wiring - that would save me a headache. I found some options at M&R Online but open to other suggestions too.

Thanks

I’ve been putting this off for literally three years. Every time I thought about merging onto the interstate, my hands would get sweaty and my heart would start racing just thinking about the "what ifs." I’ve been taking the long way everywhere, adding twenty minutes to my commute just to stay on backroads with lower speed limits. But this morning, I just put on my favorite playlist, took a deep breath, and actually did it.

It wasn't perfect, I definitely gripped the steering wheel way too hard and my legs were shaking when I finally parked, but I actually kept up with traffic and merged without panicking. If you’re like me and feel like you’re "behind" everyone else or that you'll never be able to handle high speeds, please don't give up. It’s a huge relief to realize that the fear in my head was way scarier than the actual driving. Small wins still count!

turning 56 this year made me realize my old creams just werent cutting it anymore. my skin felt drier than ever with noticeable fine lines around my eyes and some dullness on my cheeks no matter how much sunscreen i used daily. i wanted something stronger but gentle enough for sensitive mature skin without the irritation i got from other brands.

after some looking around i started using pelactiv skincare products especially their vita c serum and restore cream and after about six weeks my skin looks brighter feels firmer and the texture is smoother with less dryness throughout the day. the australian made formulas with peptides and actives seem to really support the barrier without any redness or breakouts.

has anyone else here in their 50s or 60s had good results with cosmeceutical brands like this for graceful aging? what has helped most with hydration and brightness for you?

thanks for any thoughts i really appreciate it.

I’m moving to LA soon for work and trying to figure out the best way to find a legit room without wasting time or getting scammed. I’ve done roommates before, but never in a city this big, so I’m trying to be more careful this time and plan instead of rushing at the last minute.

I came across roomster while searching. It seems active, but I’m not sure if it’s actually worth using or if people get good results there. Has anyone here used it recently in LA? Did you find something real or just a lot of dead listings?

Also, what worked best for you overall, apps, facebook groups, or just craigslist? Trying to keep costs low, so open to cheaper options too.

I’m working through the financials on a fixer-upper property that I recently inherited in the Minneapolis area and would appreciate your input.

Property is valued at approximately $350k after renovation. Currently, it requires roughly $60k-$70k in renovations (new roof, HVAC system replacement, outdated interior finishing, foundation settling). I do not have enough cash available to pay for renovations, so I would be looking at HELOC or unsecured personal loans with 8%-9% interest.

If I proceed with traditional approach:

  • Repair costs: $65,000
  • Real estate commission (6%): $21,000
  • Holding cost for six months: about $10,000
  • Total net value: around $254,000

In my area, a few cash buyers have approached me with an offer of $230,000 to $240,000 without commissions or repairs. They will close within two weeks.

The question here is whether it is worth waiting for six months in order to gain an additional $15,000 to $20,000 in profit? Or should I take advantage of their cash payment and save myself six months of headaches and the possibility that the house may remain unsold?

For those living in the Twin Cities area, what is your process when evaluating such local investors? How can I be sure that they won't try to resell the contract? Thank you.

Ive been seriously thinking about rhinoplasty for a while now and im pretty close to actually going ahead with it but im honestly more nervous abt recovery than the surgery itself

Ive read the basics like swelling bruising congestion etc but it still feels like theres a gap between what clinics say and what ppl actually go through day to day after

what im most worried abt is how it actually feels after the first week or two like breathing discomfort sleep issues the mental side of looking swollen n not recognising yourself and how long it rlly takes to feel normal again

i just cant shake the feeling that theres stuff people only find out after

is there anything else ppl wish they knew before going into recovery like the real stuff no one talks abt?
