Do you find yourself going back to "admire" your work multiple times?

I'm somebody who has had issues with pleasing others in the past, and have faced self-esteem issues as well. That said, everything that I did well, I would go back to it and admire multiple times a day. It's like that thing people do like going to the fridge over and over seeing if something new will magically appear.

For example, when I use Reddit and leave comments, I would go to my profile multiple times in a single sitting just to look at all the comments I left on that day (I should use Reddit less).

Unless it's something that I genuine stress and have shame about, then I wouldn't look at it and try to forget it exists.

Is this behaviour ADHD related, or no?

(marked NFSW to hide it from my profile page LMAO)

Recommend a book

If you recommend the Quran, you have to recommend a specific surah/ayat and tafseer.

I know that ADHD meds are generally stimulants, right? Maybe coffee actually really helps in a way and I'm not just imagining it? Anybody feel the same way? I'm not medicated for ADHD for context.

Sharing here so that we can read and discuss.

I haven't read the sources, I will get to it when I can.

Those who have read through it, what do you guys think?

My comments before reading: It's important for us to reckon with our real history and not ignore our history, no matter how dirty it could be. We have seen how despicable it is for the Japanese to barely acknowledge their atrocities during their occupation and wars in the 1900s. We should be better, face and learn from the mistakes of our ancestors.

Assalammualaikum wrwb,

I would like to learn more about this topic, as a layman. I am not the person seeking apostasy (may Allah protect me) but I have seen an uptick in the idea of apostasy amongst the local youth. The fact that this issue is more visible to the public and that more people are exposed to the idea of apostasy, I thank social media for it.

My questions are:

- What are the daleel for apostasy and people who have sincere doubts about Islam in the prophet's time? peace be upon him

- What are the historical precedence regarding this issue in Islamic civilisations before modern times?

- How are modern Islamic societies dealing with apostasy in their youth? What do places with formal sharia systems do? What do places with no formal sharia systems do?

- Is it "silent apostasy" acceptable in Islamic societies as an alternative to facing penalties, rehabilitation or death penalty?

A bit of background on apostasy measures by sharia courts in Malaysia:

In Malaysia, apostasy (riddah) is not governed by a single federal law, but rather by individual state Syariah enactments, resulting in significant differences in how it is handled, ranging from rehabilitative approaches to punitive measures.

While all states generally require apostates to go through the Syariah Court to leave Islam (per the landmark 2007 Lina Joy case), the penalties and procedures for doing so vary.

Differences in State Approaches (Malaysia)

States with Criminalisation: Several states explicitly make apostasy, attempted apostasy, or claiming to be a non-Muslim to evade religious duties a criminal offence, punishable by fines, imprisonment, or detention in rehabilitation centers. These include:

Kelantan: Imposes strict penalties, including detention for up to 3 years in a rehabilitation center.

Pahang & Sabah: Criminalise the act of declaring oneself a non-Muslim to avoid actions.

Terengganu, Perak, & Melaka: Listed as states with specific provisions against apostasy.

States with Rehabilitative/Counseling Focus: Many states, such as Selangor and others, focus on counseling, spiritual mentoring, or education sessions (sometimes up to 90 days) aimed at restoring the person’s faith before any punitive measures are considered.

Procedural Discrepancies:

Negeri Sembilan was historically unique for having clear, though challenging, procedures in its Administration of the Religion of Islam (Negeri Sembilan) Enactment 2003 for a formal declaration of leaving Islam.

Sabah is the only Borneo state that treats apostasy as a criminal offence under Syariah law.

Sarawak and some other states have more silent or vague regulations, where the Syariah Court may not have an explicit, established procedure for converting out of Islam.

Summary

No Death Penalty: Despite some misunderstanding about strict Islamic law, there is no death penalty for apostasy in Malaysia; penalties are ta'zir (discretionary) and limited to fines or imprisonment.

Conflict of Jurisdiction: In states like Johor and Selangor, older laws that once allowed for a smoother declaration of leaving Islam have been repealed and replaced with stricter, more restrictive laws.

Civil vs. Syariah: While some states allow the Syariah court to handle it, many apostates try to use the civil court to avoid the challenging Syariah process, leading to conflicts between the two court systems.

Please do take my question in good faith, I don't have an ounce of negativity in my question so I appreciate if the same would be given in return. Jazakum Allah khayr.

I thought Ajar content on YouTube was Islamic leaning, but somehow it brought people who are anti-Islam to this sub

I think I joined this sub a few years ago, tak lah macam ni sangat

Edit: Saya kurang setuju penggunaan bahasa yang berbaur sinis atau sindiran. Ya, walaupun kita bangga dengan Islam, tapi saya rasa penggunaan bahasa seperti ini bertentangan dengan banyak ajaran Islam.

To think Prophet Muhammad SAW spent 23 years of his life preaching to people and being condemned and persecuted. Would he speak to other people this way? I don't think so.

So do be respectful in your speech, as the prophet would be.
