Eden Lumina, our 2.5D Metroidvania: what do you think?

Hi everyone, we're Davide and Emanuele, two devs going under the name Paka Games. We've been working on Eden Lumina for a while now, a 2.5D Metroidvania in Unity, and we thought it was time to share something here.

The style is all drawn by hand, with the levels built in 2.5D to give depth to the 2D. It's a project we care a lot about and we carry forward in between everything else, so any feedback means a lot to us.

Here's some material below, including artwork, a project presentation and a workflow timelapse:

About the team: right now there are just two of us and we'd love to find a third, a 2D frame-by-frame animator, in revshare. If you're in the field or know someone, feel free to reach out.

You can find us in DM or at main.pakagames@gmail.com.

Cheers,

Davide and Emanuele

Per contattarci ci trovate in DM o all'email main.pakagames@gmail.com.

A presto,

Davide ed Emanuele

[RevShare] (Italian studio) Paka Games seeking a 2D frame-by-frame animator for a 2.5D Metroidvania in Unity

We're Paka Games, an Italian indie studio formed by a programmer and an artist. We're developing a 2.5D Metroidvania in Unity and looking for a 2D frame-by-frame animator to join as the third core member of the team.

2D frame-by-frame animation, characters and combat focused. The art direction is already defined; animation work would build on the existing assets.

Revenue share on the game's net earnings, percentage scaled to the scope of contribution.

A Kickstarter campaign is planned once the animations are in place. A share from the campaign funds can be agreed on as part of the deal, so the payoff is not only long-term.

Full credit in-game and across all marketing.

Hey everyone,

We're a 2-person team working on Eden Lumina, a hand-painted 2D metroidvania built in Unity, set at the bottom of a giant chasm. Rabbit protagonist, painterly aesthetic, with our own constructed in-world language (Mënalish). Visual reference points: Hollow Knight on the platforming side, Made in Abyss for the verticality and mood, with a bit of Nausicaä and Gaudí in the architecture.

We're still in pre-production. So far we have:

  • full visual identity (palette, key art, logo)
  • character design for the protagonist
  • a substantial library of environment props and tilesets
  • worldbuilding + lore document, language system
  • a pre-production preview: Eden Lumina — Pre-production Preview

Would love to hear what you think of the visual direction and the overall vibe we're going for. Any first impressions or gut reactions are super welcome.

Thanks for reading, Paka Games

What we need is a 2D animator to bring the protagonist (and later NPCs / enemies) to life. We're aiming for hand-drawn frame-by-frame, not rig-based, clean cycles, expressive, in line with a painterly look. Game-animation experience is a big plus (loops, idle/attack transitions, hitboxes-aware timing), but we care more about the right sensibility than a perfect CV.

If you're interested, take a look at the preview first, if it clicks, drop a portfolio / reel in a comment or DM. Especially keen to see frame-by-frame or character work.
