Hiring artist for isometric buildings and terrain in a style of Darkest Dungeon

Hello,

I am looking to have about 25 isometric buildings made for my dark fantasy hex based roguelike. The style is similar to darkest dungeon, but with more saturated colors. The buildings will have a max size in the game of 192x250, except for one building, which will be about twice that size. Having everything match an isometric angle is a must, and any art that does not will not be accepted.

I will also want some small animations for each building. Like a windmill turning or smoke coming from a chimney. Really basic animations.

I already have the art for the units for the game complete, so matching that style is a must. Take a look at the art on our Instagram in the link below to get a feel for the style.

https://www.instagram.com/heroesofthelastlight?igsh=MnJ6dWh1NHk4ZXVw

My budget for the buildings is $500. My last artist ghosted me halfway through our contracted work, so please understand that I will be paying incrementally.

I also have a link to our latest playtest if you want to poke around in the game to get a feel for it.

[PAID] Seeing Pixel Artist(s) for Modern 2D Pixel-Art JRPG

Hi everyone,

I’m a solo developer working on a modern, top-down 2D pixel-art JRPG inspired by series' such as Final Fantasy, Persona, and Xeno(gears/saga/blade). The game itself is almost fully built out, with all of the systems in place and architecture built out. The only thing that's missing is the visual identity.

I’m looking for pixel artist(s) to help create the visual identity for a polished demo/vertical slice. The demo is planned to be around 2 hours long and will be used as the main showcase to greenlight the creation of the full game, based on public support. I need someone who can take ownership of the project’s visuals and help create a coherent, consistent art style across the entire demo.

This is a CASH PAID position, so please do not ask me about rev share.

The initial style I am leaning towards is a semi-realistic, semi-anime art style like that found in Octopath Traveler (but not HD-2D), but this is not set in stone. If you have a preferred art style that you work with that appeals to me, then I would be happy to accommodate!

Specs

  • Modern detailed pixel art (color variety and high contrast).
  • Top-down JRPG perspective (NOT isometric nor side-scrolling).
  • Game resolution: 640x360, upscaled to 1080p/1440p/4K.
  • Experience with dynamic lighting / normal maps is a plus.

Assets Needed

  • Playable Character Sprites
  • NPCs
    • NPCs share basic bodies, but having a variety of different clothing, hairstyles, etc. to differentiate them.
  • Enemy sprites
    • Fantastical in design, leaning towards a more monster aesthetic
    • Sizes vary wildly depending on the type of enemy, going all the way up to 256x256 for bosses.
  • Battle animations for playable characters and enemies
  • Overworld movement animations for playable characters and NPCs
  • Dialogue portraits with emotional variants
  • Top-down tilesets for a variety of locations, including:
    • Peaceful Village
    • Musty Slum
    • Medieval City
    • Gloomy Prison
  • UI components
    • I have already created the layouts and formatting, you just need to design the elements.
  • Icons for items, spells, menus, etc.

To reiterate, the game already has many core systems implemented in-engine, including exploration, battle, menus, and general infrastructure. I have a lot of the UI in place with programmer art and placeholder assets, but the missing piece is a unified visual direction and polished art assets.

Please reach out if you:

  • Have experience with pixel-art RPG assets
  • Can create consistent characters, environments, UI, and animations
  • Are comfortable helping establish the game’s overall art direction
  • Can communicate clearly and help scope the workload realistically
  • Are open to a possible long-term collaboration if the demo goes well

Please send your portfolio, relevant examples to my project, rates, and availability if this project interests you!

If you are only comfortable with one aspect of the listed above (ex. if you think your environmental art would be a great fit but you are not comfortable with character sprite creation), that's fine! I'm not looking for just a single person, as long as you can adapt your style to fit the overall vision of the project, please don't hesitate to reach out!

You can DM me here or contact me at garson.vgdev@gmail.com

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

EDIT: Please include a portfolio link and/or a small message about your skillset in your initial message to me, else I'll ignore all other messages that seem like bots.

EDIT: Also no NSFW whatsoever, please!

Looking for 3D Animator / Modeler for Stylized Slime Character

We’re a small indie team currently developing a stylized game project and are looking for a talented 3D Animator / Technical Animator (and potentially character-focused modeler) to help bring one of our core characters to life.

The character is a humanoid slime-like creature, and while we already have a strong visual direction established for the design itself, we’re specifically looking for someone who can help sell the feeling of the character through movement and animation.

We want the character to truly feel soft, elastic, alive, and expressive through:

  • Secondary motion
  • Wobble / jiggle simulation
  • Stretching and squash
  • Subtle body deformation
  • Bouncy locomotion
  • Contortion and fluid movement
  • Personality-driven idle animations
  • Weight shifting and reactive motion

The goal is not hyper-realism, but stylized, readable, satisfying animation with strong character appeal. Think expressive and polished movement that makes the creature instantly feel unique and memorable to control.

We’re currently in early development/prototyping stages, so we’re looking for someone collaborative who enjoys experimentation and helping shape the feel of a character alongside a small team.

If interested, please send:

  • Portfolio / demo reel
  • Examples of creature animation, stylized animation, or physics-driven motion
  • Any experience with soft-body, squash/stretch, or non-humanoid characters
  • Rates / availability

Feel free to DM me directly. Looking forward to connecting with some talented artists and animators!

Maybe we can get like a badge system in here to filter out bad actors?

So I have been hiring from here a lot lately and it was great but like 50% of submissions on my posts were people faking being someone else asking for paid tests. Maybe if like for each commission you did you got a badge or something saying "I worked on game x" on your reddit account

Even if this system would be "gameable" it would make it much more of a headache to scam here

Just an idea I had what do you think

[PAID] Hiring pixel artists + audio contractor for roguelite tower-defense game

Hi, I am looking for paid contractors for The Anchored Hour, a Unity roguelite tower-defense game being prepared for Steam Early Access.

I am hiring for three lanes:

1. Roster / combat pixel artist

- Enemy roster

- Player/support unit visuals

- Combat-facing tower polish

2. World / UI / building pixel artist

- Biome terrain, buildings, and structures

- Route-selection visuals

- UI readability and panel polish

- Icon style direction for relic/shop icons

3. Audio contractor

- Short loopable menu/gameplay music

- UI and run-flow SFX

- Tower/enemy/combat feedback SFX

- Light mix/normalization

This is paid contractor work, not rev-share-only. I want to start with small paid tests for shortlisted candidates, then move into capped first batches if fit and communication are good.

Starting budget anchors:

- Paid test: ~$200

- First batch: ~$750

This applies to each lane. These are starting anchors, not automatic fixed offers and not the whole project budget. Exact quotes can vary with scope. Follow-up work can continue in clear milestones if a first batch goes well.

Requirements:

- Written scope and commercial rights terms

- Invoice or milestone payment request

- No undisclosed AI-generated work

- No undisclosed third-party assets/samples/libraries

- U.S.-based preferred for admin simplicity, but international applicants can be considered case-by-case if paperwork and payment logistics are clean

Please send:

- Which lane you are interested in

- Portfolio / reel links

- Relevant game examples

- Rough availability over the next few weeks

You can comment here or DM me. A current build can be shared privately with promising candidates.

Edit:
I didn't expect to get blasted with DMs as fast as I did, I will try to reply to every one but it may take a while to do so sit tight and thanks for the interest!

Edit2:
I tried to hit everyone up, I'm doing a second pass on the portfolios as we speak but i probably wont get to respond to everyone. If I messaged you already and you don't get another message from me within 2 days assume you didn't make the cut for the test.

edit3: Hey, sorry to the few whose messages got sent to the spam folder, I just saw it as I was heading to be, so I will check those out first thing in the morning .

Looking for an artist

Hi there I’m looking for an artist that would be able to recreate this style.

I’m not sure if I’m gonna to explain this well so I’m sorry

I want fully hand-painted/pixelrendered 2D sprite sheets in an isometric or angled perspective that feel dimensional through lighting, texture, layering, and shading but are still entirely sprite based 2D, not 3D or 2.5D.

As the software I’m using is RPG Maker mz

[PAID] I am looking for Steam Capsule Artist for my upcoming game

Hi, I want to redesign my Steam capsule art and logo for my game HeroInc.
I’m specifically looking for a non-AI artist/designer.

Some key points about the game and the direction:

  • The core theme is zero to hero progression
  • The setting is a New York-inspired city with subtle neon vibes
  • The atmosphere should feel a bit heroic and motivational, but still light and fun rather than overly serious
  • I want the capsule art and logo to feel more professional, memorable, and readable on Steam across different capsule sizes

The game itself is a tactical RPG / autobattler focused on building your character from an ordinary person into a powerful hero through classes, events, and city progression.

If you are interested, please contact me with:

  • Portfolio / previous work
  • Pricing
  • Estimated delivery time

Thanks!

[FOR HIRE] Web3 Game Dev – Fixing Scaling, Gas Fees & Broken Token Economies

Most Web3 games work in demo environments but fail under real user load.

High gas fees disrupt gameplay, wallet flows reduce user onboarding, and poorly designed token economies get exploited when activity increases.

We build Web3 games designed for production use, focusing on:

  • Hybrid architecture (off-chain gameplay with on-chain asset ownership)
  • Backend systems that support high concurrent player activity
  • Game economy design with exploit prevention measures
  • Simplified wallet integration and onboarding flows

If your game works in testing but struggles in live conditions, we help improve stability, scalability, and overall system performance for production environments.

Hello I am making a Game and Boy do i need help

Hello All, You can call me Wise:

I have a game Idea, mechanics, characters, stories , setting, tone, script, VA's lining up out the door. What I don't have is a physical game. I have a Studio working on music, I have a main menu song, and if my animator gets RApido RApido I'll have a 'teaser'.

I am looking to find someone to work as either a collaborative effort, or at least, someone to help develop it.

It is going to be a tactical RPG with Analog horror elements in it.

My goal is to release a physical Demo in December.

The truth is I need help, I have programmed in many programming languages before, but I'm not a game developer.

I would love to connect with people to help drive my vision forward, get the demo out, and proceed to make a full game.

It will be fun, it will be wild, and i have been praised by both professional VA's, and artists for my premise.

Last bit i will give: Is a short synapsis of the game.

setting is Techno Feudalist Society with a mass Surveillance State involved. Everyone is connected through the social media named "Flock" which is owned by "Babble Inc", who has been gracious enough to provide everyone with a Omniview that keeps them connected to the world wide web for free! It also lets them stream their real life goings on on their version of Youtube Gaze. Everyone's information is stored in the database called the book of life.

The Main character freelances as a necromancer working for Grim Agency, who is ran by none other than the Grim reaper. The grim reaper is out of the job, because currently No one is dying and No one has died for a very long time.

If anyone at all is interested in making this thing become a reality, please Email me at:
KDshawee@gmail.com or reach me on discord at wiseon321. Or here, if you want.

Questions related to plot devices, mechanics, any assets I have, I will keep in private discussions.

Thank you for your time.

I do not have a budget for this, because, I don't know how much this will cost. I do plan on paying people, I just don't have a cost.

[PAID] Looking for a pixel artist to draw 200-300 icons (16x16)

Hi, I'm making a pixel art incremental city-building game. I'm looking for an artist who will draw 16x16 icons for buildings, resources, and all kinds of upgrades. Only static images, no animations.

I'm estimating that I'll need a total of 200-300 icons, and I'm looking for someone who can reliably deliver 20+ icons per week.

If you're interested and I like your portfolio, we'll start with a paid sample and then go from there.

There are some issues preventing me from directly attaching an image to this post. Here is the game's art style: https://imgur.com/a/czThrwO
