how long did it take you to be actually GOOD at your hobby?

you know when you first start something, you suck, then there’s this brief period where you exponentially get better because of all the beginner things you learn and implement at once, then the rate of improvement slows down as you refine your processes, make your movements more precise, and things like that.

how long did it take you to actually get to a point where you think, “wow, i might actually be good at this”?

did it take weeks, months, years or even longer?

if you had to start learning linocutting from zero all over again, what things would you do to skill up faster and make better prints?

just as the question says :)

how much time do you typically set aside daily/ weekly to commit to your hobby?

i typically set aside 1-3 hours per session for each hobby, but how many sessions i have weekly differs massively. sometimes i get in multiple sessions a week for a bunch of my hobbies, sometimes just one, for only one hobby.

what’s your average hobby time allocation like, or are you more of an impromptu, as-and-when kind of person?

what tiny butterfly / moth is this?

i’m not sure if this tiny thing is a butterfly or a moth, as you can see it’s very tiny, even smaller than half the size of a thumb (excuse my ink stained nails).

this was spotted in malaysia, if that helps the ID-ing.

do you actually read the substacks you subscribe to? do you have any tips to get into them?

i’ve been thinking about how i have no problem reading books as big as 700 pages but when it comes to online articles, i either skim through them or i don’t read it at all, and they just end up rotting in my inbox.

if you do read them, how do you go about it? what genres of articles are you reading?

when was the last time you were afraid of another man?

have you, as a man, ever been afraid of another man? why?

edit: “scared” here can mean anything from nervousness, premonition of something bad potentially happening, and legitimate fear for your life.

have i become an apologist?

i was m*lested as a kid and had the right people not intervened at the right time, it would have escalated to be so much worse.

the perpetrator was actually a nice guy as i remember. he always smiled at me and was kind and soft spoken. i used to hate him for what he did but as an adult, i look back on it with a more compassionate(?) lens.

i now wonder if he was all bad, and if it was his fault? like, normal people just naturally feel attraction to people their own age or age bracket. he doesn’t feel that natural inclination i guess.

am i coping? am i processing my trauma in the wrong way? what is this i’m going through, sympathising with someone who has irreparably traumatised me when i was only a young child?

i had very bad acne when i was young and i get breakouts now and then still but mostly just the scars from before. i don’t know if this is ice pick scars, box scars, rolling scars or a combination of all of them. how do i improve the skin texture?

u/Outside_Young8660 — 13 days ago

i have been wondering this for a while, but in your experience, do face masks actually work? and in what way? and how visible were the results?

i have worn face masks but not a reliable frequency, so maybe that’s why i haven’t seen any difference in my skin, but i wonder for frequent mask users, do you experience a change in your skin texture or tone, for example?

i’m curious to hear from the veteran skincare enthusiats, do you ever fall off your skincare routine for long periods of time?

i’ve always been on and off with my skincare but the longest has probably been a good 2 years due to mental health issues. i’ve only just gotten back into my routine again, probably for the gazillionth time.

just wondered if i was the only one who’s grossly inconsistent or do you all experience long periods of skincare negligence too? or you only allow yourself to slip up for a few days at a time?

this is probably the 3rd time i’ve been logged out of my instagram account this week. thought it was a glitch at first but i’m wondering if it’s because someone has logged in elsewhere?

or, someone from a different location or device has tried to login too many times? what other common reasons would there be for frequent and sudden logouts?

and what security measures can i take other than enable 2FA?

i have noticed that for me, the items are always the same in the blue section to the left of nook’s cranny. it always alternates between the white surfboard and the green vintage fan. is it meant to be? i don’t remember it being that way when i first got the game.

i have tried periodically purchasing these items to see whether or not it then changes the item the next day but it doesn’t.

anyone else experiencing the same thing?
