Locked out of Instagram because of 2FA + Microsoft Authenticator failure. Facebook Account Center workaround also blocked.

TL;DR:
- Old phone died physically
- Microsoft Authenticator restore keeps failing
- No backup codes
- Video selfie verification keeps failing
- Facebook account is linked to Instagram
- BUT Meta keeps showing “You can’t make this change at the moment”
Long story short:
My old phone (POCO X4 Pro 5G) got physically damaged. The screen detached completely, but the phone itself still powers on. Unfortunately, my Instagram 2FA was stored in Microsoft Authenticator on that phone.
I had cloud backup enabled in Microsoft Authenticator, but for the last 3 days restore has been completely broken with:
“Something went wrong. Please send logs.”
I tried:
- different phones
- different networks
- older Authenticator APKs
- emulator
- reinstalling
- password reset
- Instagram web login
- video selfie verification dozens of times
Nothing worked.
Then I found posts saying you can use your linked Facebook account to access Instagram backup codes through Account Center:
Facebook → Settings → Accounts Center → Password & Security → Two-Factor Authentication → Instagram → Backup Codes
My Facebook and Instagram have been linked for years.
The interesting thing:
I CAN see my Instagram account inside Meta Account Center.
It recognizes the account correctly.
BUT whenever I try to:
- access backup codes
- change 2FA
- switch to SMS
- disable authenticator
I get this error:
“You can’t make this change at the moment.
This is because we noticed you are using a device you don’t usually use and we need to keep your account safe.
We’ll allow you to make this change after you’ve used this device for a while.”
What’s confusing is:
- this also happens on my laptop/browser that I’ve been using for 5+ years
- same Wi-Fi/network
- same Facebook account
- same Instagram linked account
So now I’m stuck in this weird partial-access state where Meta clearly recognizes me, but still blocks all 2FA-related actions.
Has anyone successfully gotten past this cooldown/security restriction?
If yes:
- how long did it take?
- did you just wait?
- did you keep using Facebook normally?
- did Meta eventually allow backup code access?
Any help would seriously mean a lot right now.

Is anyone else’s app bugging and closing the app
Someone Has Been Stealing My Content For 3 Months
Hey guys,
I've been posting on TikTok and Instagram for a little over a year now and I went to make a facebook page today. It turns out someone has been taking EVERY video that I post from TikTok and uploading it to a facebook page pretending to be me. It even has my contact email in the bio.
What the hell can I do about this? The page has like 8 Thousand followers and he's uploading like 6 of my videos a day playing catch up.
I feel like I gotta go to their office , it’s just 10 mins walk from mine
Paying extra $220 just to get a support to tell you fuck off
Day 33 of being suspended for false cse , leaving in non-appealed this time due to their flawed AI
Context I've been in this game like 3 times already , cse ban wave is already extremely hard to overcome, and now they're giving me this bs once again... learned not to appeal cause previously they hard locked the account and was stuck in appeal and perm banned, legal and methods do not work anymore at least for my region . For those who are facing any false serious ban reasons too, it's an advice to not click on the appeal button, the chances of getting it unbanned is quite low the moment you click on that button, though it is still possible to get it back ,but this is ultimately your choice so do it at your own risk . Wish there's a way out here 😖
Edit : If you're experiencing meta support issues, it could most likely be caused by the latest banwaves and upcoming employee layoff reasons . Do have a read if you're curious :

Instagram got disabled after my ex stole my phone and uploaded a private video on my cf story
I tried filing an appeal, but it was rejected. I’m also unable to download my data because when I try logging in with the same password, Instagram says the password is incorrect. I’ve had this account for 12 years, and it contains so many important memories, including photos and moments with my best friend who passed away. Losing access to this account has been incredibly painful.
Please suggest a way to get the data back idc about the account
10k followers but almost zero engagement now, can this page recover?
Hey guys,
Need some honest advice.
I have a DevOps/IT related Instagram page with around 10k followers, but engagement is almost dead now. Hardly getting story views, posts don’t perform, and feels like even followers don’t see my content anymore.
To be honest, I was very inconsistent for a long time. Mostly posted normal posts/carousels, barely did reels, and sometimes disappeared for weeks/months.
Content is mostly:
- DevOps
- cloud/Azure/AWS
- sysadmin stuff
- tech career related posts
Now I’m confused whether:
- the page is dead because of inactivity
- tech content just performs badly on Instagram now
- or I completely ignored reels for too long
Has anyone here actually revived an inactive page successfully?
Should I keep this account and start posting reels consistently or just start fresh?
Also what kind of content is working now for tech/IT pages?
Would appreciate real advice from people who’ve gone through this.
Paying for Meta Verified on 2 accounts, locked out of both
Not banned but keep hitting “An unknown error occurred”
Facebook Meta Verified support “can’t verify ownership”. I bought it through Meta so I can’t cancel it. Even more than that, I don’t know how to get back into my account. Already tried other devices and the website. They keep escalating it to a specialist and I never get a response. It’s been this way for over a month. Please help!!
Instagram Web Isn't Loading Up
Anybody else having this issue with Instagram on PC?
I tried clearing cache data but it didn't work. My account is okay though.
Don’t trust Instagram to store your memories…
Is Instagram down for anyone else right now? 😩
Something tells me Meta Business Suite for Instagram is having issues. This is the third time today I’ve tried uploading a Reel… and still no luck.
Tried switching browsers, clearing cache, re-uploading everything… now just waiting for a miracle at this point 😂
Anyone else facing this?
Why am i Getting banned?
Yesterday i got banned for no reason for child nudity which was very confusing, I created a New account today with a different email address but almost the same name and got banned AGAIN, they declined my appeal on the first account and now made me do another one with a selfie video this time, i do not understand, please help!!
Is my account gonna get banned??
I normally make a variety of videos like kpop/ dancing/ and I post my art so I literally don’t know what this could be about plus it’s not showing up in my notifications tab ( I didn’t have time to click on it so I don’t even know which post it is )
Anyone else losing lots of followers?
I Barely post on Instagram anymore because of how bad Instagram has gotten when i do post its when i feel like posting Something, but besides that there's way too much ai slop now and Instagram bans people's accounts for no reason at all maybe that would Explain why i been losing followers i don't know either way Instagram has gone downhill.
Can this be taken to court?
I know Meta has been garbage for past years, but this goes over all limits. We have a business account where we spend 500€+ a month on ads. We started having issues for past 1 week with account getting locked constantly, needing to reset password each time. Today, after doing it again account got suspended.
Naturally, I did appeal, but what pissed me off is the fact, that I had to also scan my national ID (or anything applicable) which means they have my data to sell. While it wasn't that big of a problem on Discord for an example (I can just walk away), I can't walk away from business Instagram account so I had to upload my ID (I covered the part of the serial number and some other very sensitive info).
Since, it can take some time to get trough my appeal (if even will get approved) and this is hurting my business by not running ads and me not being able to respond to customers, can this whole scenery be taken to court for damages? And in case they do not approve my appeal and permanently take down business account, this can hurt my business quite a lot. I feel like Meta should be financially responsible for these things and I'm talking about 50k+, since this will affect me in future too if I don't get my access back.
What are you thoughts? Can I do it? This is getting out of hand and pissing me off.

That is just where we want Meta ;)
What's with the "Love this!" comments? Are they bots?
Been noticing them more and more lately. A reel will have hundreds of comments, ALL of them say love this! Different emojis, different capitalization. Is the internet just being trashed by bots?
What is this???
Why do I only get a “yes” and a “kinda yes” option?!
