How to practice soldering modchips

Hi, I'm trying to get into soldering with the intent of learning how to solder modchips because that service just isn't available where I live and I'd like to do it for my friends and maybe later expand to selling it as a service. But is there any way to practice besides doing it on straight switches? I'm planning to buy some soldering practice kits off AliExpress (probably some of [those](https://a.aliexpress.com/\_EvqECJC) and some kit about a makeshift car with various components) but I'm not sure it prepares properly to the switch modchip install, are there other things that could help me practice the specific skills I'd need? Maybe a custom PCB I could practice connecting the flex cables to? Or is my only option buying cheap switches and practicing on those? I'd be pretty bummed if I kill them and end up unable to resell them tho so I'd rather not.

Additionally is there anywhere I could find PCBs of the same thickness / amount of layers to maybe practice the kamikaze method? My friends don't own oleds but if I'm learning how to do this I feel like I might as well learn for all of them. I'm down for settings to custom make them on platforms like PCBway or something if that lets me get something similar too.

How to stain / paint linen in brownish shades

Hi, I'm looking to make some tote bags inspired by statues, the fabric is 100% linen and I want to embroider the shape of the statue and paint the shades in a beige/brown color. My question is, how would I do that? I was thinking either coffee or watercolor paint but would that hold? Are there extra steps needed to do that?

Raising money for a university trip

Hi everyone, my university's computer science department is currently raising money for a trip, the aim is to compete in a national hackathon and visit big players in digital innovation.

We are students from Martinique (in the french Caribbean) so, due to the distance, traveling to mainland France to participate in a national event is quite costly, we have managed to raise some money but the date is drawing near and we are still missing nearly 5000€. We’re already incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received so far, and every additional contribution, no matter the amount, genuinely helps move this project forward. Even sharing the fundraiser with friends, family, or colleagues can make a huge difference for us. Thank you all in advance.

Here is the fundraiser link : https://www.helloasso.com/associations/vizyon-dijital/formulaires/2

Also the website is translated but it seems the text doesn't auto translate so here's the translation of the fundraiser's description :

Vizyon Tech Tour - Help 15 students from Martinique explore the digital world in mainland France!

We are Vizyon Digital, a student association at the University Institute of Technology (IUT) of Martinique, passionate about tech and innovation. From May 28th to June 4th, 2026, 15 of us will embark on a unique technological immersion trip: a programming competition at the 24 Hours of Computing in Montpellier, a visit to Airbus facilities in Toulouse, and an exploration of Scaleway data centers in Paris.

The goal: to broaden our horizons, strengthen our skills, and build connections with the national digital ecosystem—rare opportunities for students from France's overseas territories.

We have already raised more than half of the funds needed for this project. However, we still need to raise approximately €9,000 to make it a reality. Every contribution, even €5 or €10, truly counts and brings us closer to our goal.

💙 By supporting us, you are investing in the training of tomorrow's digital talent. Thank you for your generosity!

Pay one cent for 400€

Hi so when I opened the app today it gave me a bunch of wheel spins, told me I'd won 400€ (200 credit and 200 in coupons) and asks me to pay 1 cent to get the money, that sounds incredibly suspicious tho, what is that about?

Hi, I'm looking to attend a craft market for mother's day in about two weeks, this will be my first market and I plan to sell crocheted items (for now I'm thinking flower keychains and real sized flowers to make custom bouquets, as well as probably bookmarks and possibly coasters, idk about that one), I need to make my order quite soon for the keyrings and packaging to arrive in time but I have no idea how much of each thing I should prepare... The market is from 9am to 3pm, it's not a big city or anything (about 6k total inhabitants but there's definitely going to be people from the neighboring towns) and the area is quite touristy (tho it won't be anything too crazy either).

I'd love it if someone could give me advice on how much to prep, and what proportions you'd suggest for items (whether I should do something like 70% flowers, 20% keychains and 10% bookmarks which was my original thought, but I don't really know what sells well). I was thinking of buying some custom heart keyrings and need packaging that will be a certain shape for the bookmarks so I need to know in advance how much to order so I don't end up with an empty bank account and too much stuff on my hands. Thank you in advance for the answers.

Hi, I want to attend a market soon for mother's day (roughly 2 weeks from today) and I wanted to know if you had any suggestions for patterns I could make. For now I'm thinking some small bouquet keychains and bigger flowers so people can pick individual ones for their own bigger bouquets, maybe some coasters too, not entirely sure about that one. Does anyone know of some nice patterns, or could even give me some advice / pointers on what you think would make a good mother's day gift, or what you'd like to receive if you're a mother passing by? Thanks in advance.

When I opened the app today it said I used a streak freeze and offered to let me buy one, I thought maybe the lesson I did yesterday somehow just hasn't registered but it does show up as a perfect week and there's no reason for me to have lost any streak freeze, has that happened to anyone else? I don't really care for the freeze since it refills and I shouldn't have any reason to miss any day but that's a weird bug.

In France we have a tradition, on May first we gift each other small bouquets of lilies of the valley as a way to wish for luck and happiness, it's called muguet du premier mai (muguet is the flower's name in french). May first is also labour day in France meaning nearly no store is open (besides florists for that obvious reason and some restaurants) so instead of going out exclusively to buy some flowers I decided I'd make my own mini bouquet this year, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out :)

Hi, I'm trying to empty an sd card because I need it for another device, I wanted to put the files on my computer temporarily but the files exceed the available space on my ssd. I assumed I could just make a zip with the default windows tool but, after waiting 6h for it to finish, total size went from 81go to 80.8go... I was about to start winrar but it estimated around 5h and I'd rather not let this run all night for something that might be yet another disapointment. The files are mostly just photos and videos, I need them to go from 81go to under 60go. Would winrar be enough? Would another tool be better suited? Or is the type of files the issue and these just wont compress?
