Has anyone done MARPE (jaw expansion) here in Tunisia? Looking for experiences/doctor recommendations

Hey everyone,

My orthodontist recently recommended that I get MARPE (Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion)—which is basically a device installed on the roof of the mouth to expand the upper jaw, followed by standard braces.

The main goal for me is to improve my airway and nasal breathing, but I’m feeling a bit anxious about starting this journey.

If anyone here in Tunisia has gone through this procedure (whether for breathing issues or just aesthetics), I would love to hear from you!

How was your overall experience? (How bad was the pain/discomfort initially?)

Who was your doctor? (And where are they located?)

Are you satisfied with the end result? Both functionally (breathing better) and aesthetically (face/smile changes)?

Cost/Duration: If you don't mind sharing, how long did it take and what was the approximate budget?

Any advice, tips, or warnings before I sign up for this would be incredibly appreciated.

Orthodontist appointment tomorrow, any advice?

I'm having an appointment with the orthodontist tomorrow and I'm trying to prepare myself to make the most out of it

I have a receeding lower jaw and I wanted to know if it's narrowing my airway and contributing to my UARS.

I had a CBCT scan (I'll post photos) and I was surprised that my airway wasn't as bad as I thought giving the symptoms I'm experiencing, but I don't know that much about scans so I can't say for myself, + someone here said they had 2 scans in different places and one came out fine and the other not so I don't know how accurate these scans are in assessing airway problems anyway.

So is there anything specific I should ask the doctor for, a certain evaluation, a specific option for a MAD device or braces maybe?

Anything I should pay attention to?

Anything/any procedure I should immediately refuse ??

Help with CBCT scan!

Many factors are contributing to my condition (especially UARS but some moderate apnea too), including (I think) my receding jaw, and my inflamed pharynx/throat from reflux

I went to an orthodontist to see if my jaw is really impairing my breathing and at first hegave me 2 normal X rays, but I asked for a ct scan with contrast so we can evaluate my airway inflammation at the same time, he ended up giving me a full face CBCT with a contrast agent, but the X-ray techyold me a CBCT can't be performed with contrast

So I wanted to ask who should I listen to, and what's the best option to visualize my jaws and my airways at the same time?

Is a contrast agent an option or will it decrease my bone structure clarity?

I need your help with H.Pylori antibodies test results

I had an endoscopy last december (2025), and my GI doctor found stomach ulcers but he didn't get a biopsy done and supposed I had H.Pylori and gave me 14 days of antibiotics.

fast forward to now I realised there may be another cause for my stomach ulcers, and since the antibiotic treatment literally wrecked my gut and my digestion, I decided to do an antibody test, to see if I indeed had H.Pylori before or not.

The problem is, when I did the test they told me even if I had H.pylori before, if it was eradicated by the treatment the antibodies will start to disappear slowly and there will be a significant reduction in their number

The test came out negativ, but now I'm not sure whether it's because I didn't have it in the first place or because I indeed had it but the treatment eradicated it

The test gives you a score with:

<0.75 means it's negative

0.75 <= value <1 means it's doubtful

>= 1 means it's positive

And my score is a tiny 0.02

what are your thoughts ?

Any medical evidence supporting that 5 months isn't enough for the antibodies to disappear is welcome

Anyone has this symptom?

I'm sure this symptom is caused by py LPR, yet I don't see anyone else talking about it.

I'm talking about loss of smell / taste

For the smell, it's not like I can't smell anything, but it's certainly not what it used to be. Casual smells are now vague and sometimes undetectable. Smells have to be somewhat intense and close for me to fully detect them. And I certainly wasn't like this before

As for the taste, I'm talking about the part of taste related to the smell. I can easily taste if something is salty, sour, sweet, acidic..., but I can't detect the distinct flavours of food, those that are detected by by smell

Sometimes I have to exhale vigorously through my nose just after eating a bite in order to detect some of the distinct flavours.

I feel like there's something blocking the smell cells, a veil that doesn't let smellingparticles reach them.

I'm really struggling with this, especially that I love cooking and not being able to properly taste is really problematic, and I wanted to know if someone else has this same symptom, or if someone overcame it and recovered their smell

Anyone here tried "Self Nutricare PROBIOTIQUES & Prebiotiques", "Therabiotics" or "Lactibiane Reference"?

How was your experience? Did any of them work for you ?

Hi, I'm new here and I want to try a probiotic supplement to help with my bloating, reflux and overall health.

I need advice on what specific strains should I look for, is it better to take a 10 billion strain supplement or 4 specific ones, does it have to contain prebiotics, and how should I take it?

I am currently using a Resmed Airfit N 20, but no matter how much I tighten it, I always get major leaks (they gave me a size L without even consulting me...)

I used the size guide in the box and I found that the S fits just right but the paper is touching my nose a little (barely), should I go for the S or the M ?

And here are some screenshots of the leak rate graph, I tape my mouth so I believe those are mask leaks

Ps. the tape let's a tiny bit of air through, but I still think those are mask leaks
