You know how some people on here report amazing results and others barely see a difference on the same dose? I found a research proposal that might explain why.

The study is looking at whether your gut microbiome, specifically the short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) your gut bacteria produce, acts as a modifier for how GLP-1 receptor agonists work in your body. Basically, different gut bacteria might mean different people get different effects from the same drug.

It's focused on the South Asian metabolic phenotype specifically, since that population has really high rates of metabolic syndrome and tends to respond differently to these kinds of treatments.

If this research pans out, it could eventually mean doctors test your gut microbiome before prescribing to predict how well you'll respond. Or even that adjusting your microbiome (through diet, probiotics, whatever) could improve how well the drug works.

Any probiotic actually helped your gut?

I have tried like 3 different ones from CVS and they either dont work or make me more bloated. My stomach's been all over the place and I need something that actually helps

Hey guys, I’ve had horrible eczema for 10 years and 2 months on my hands and feet. I tried every cream/ointment/drug, I did get relief from many of these drugs, but the eczema comes back with a vengeance once I stop. Im hopeful about something I started last week, my skin is looking better, but I’m not getting my hopes up yet, but I’ve been taking a probiotic twice/day. I read that it could help, I was skeptical but decided to try it and so far I’m seeing a difference. Time will tell but I’m hoping this is it! Anyone else get relief from probiotics?

Hi, I'm new here and I want to try a probiotic supplement to help with my bloating, reflux and overall health.

I need advice on what specific strains should I look for, is it better to take a 10 billion strain supplement or 4 specific ones, does it have to contain prebiotics, and how should I take it?

Does anyone have an alternative that you’d recommend to BioK+ fermented rice/soy drinks?

The longer context here is I have had IBS-D for a decade and lifestyle changes, diet, and all of the usual suspects have gotten it to a manageable place. The key to not pooping my pants 5x a day is a mix of limiting alcohol and fried fatty foods, lots more fiber and greens, cutting out coffee and switching to matcha and fermented pu’erh, other food choices like kimchi, lifting and walking, etc. But the one thing I have been intermittently taking that makes a huge difference is the BioK+ probiotic drinks (they’re sold at most specialty health stores)

They make me regular and feel so good, yet I am at a loss as to how to afford this insane price tag moving forward. It’s $34 for a box of 6 and I try to take it every other day. I’ve tried probably 5-6 other brands of probiotics all in pill-form and never seen an impact.

Am I just missing something obvious, do I need to give a new pill brand a chance, or are they “just as good” probiotic drink options that I’m unaware of?

Please help me! I feel like I have done soooo much lifestyle work and this is the last piece and I can’t figure it out. The probiotic marketing and internet info is overwhelming, the number of options are infinite, and I don’t have the money to try a dozen things.
