The office chair wheels ruined my floor

My old office chair was fine until I moved apartments. The new place had wooden floors, and the casters on that chair sounded like a shopping cart. Every time I rolled back, it left a faint mark. I ignored it for weeks.

Then I looked down one morning and saw these dull grey tracks where I sit. Like the finish had been sanded off in two little paths. The landlord would definitely notice.

I went to the hardware store and asked for new wheels. The shop attendant showed me two types: hard plastic ones and soft rubber ones. I bought the rubber ones because I felt they could be quieter. Then I got home, popped the old ones out, and pushed the new ones in. Took less than a minute.

The difference was clear. No noise, and no marks; the chair actually rolled instead of dragging. I was annoyed I’d lived with the bad ones for so long.

Later, I got curious why the originals that came with the chair were so bad. I flipped the chair over and saw that they were the cheapest hard nylon casters. I searched the part number and found the same design on Temu, sold in massive boxes to furniture factories. No brand, just bulk, compared to the type listed on alibaba, which was only sold in single units. I told my brother, and he said his gaming chair did the same thing to his tiles. He swapped his too after seeing mine.

I used to think casters were all the same. But I’m certain they’re not. The wheels that come with most chairs are made for carpet in an office, not for a house with wood or tile.

Now I check the wheels before I check the chair. I believe this could help someone else, too.

is prompt engineering actually dead or are we just in denial?

i see so many people still spending hours fine-tuning 500-word prompts to get the "perfect" response but it feels like diminishing returns at this point. the models are so advanced now that the specific phrasing matters way less than the actual architecture you are using to verify the data. the real bottleneck isn't the instructions anymore it is the lack of cross-verification between different model families. i’ve almost completely stopped "perfecting" my prompts and just started running every output through three different model architectures at once to see where the logic diverges. i found asknestr while searching for ways to automate this and it is way more effective than tweaking a single prompt for three hours. the real skill in 2026 feels like it is shifting from writing text to building systems that can spot when a model is hallucinating. i would much rather have a messy prompt and three models to cross-check the math than a "perfect" prompt and a single point of failure. is anyone else moving away from deep prompting and just focusing on orchestration?

My loyalty rate is somehow higher than what Spectrum charges new customers. How are people fixing this without spending half a day on hold? Body: I signed up two years ago on a promo, knew it would end eventually, fine. What I did not expect is for the post promo rate to be higher than what they're currently advertising to new customers for the exact same speed tier. Like what is the logic here. Friend signed up last month, same plan, same modem, paying meaningfully less than I am. When I called and pointed this out the rep told me promotional pricing is for new customers only. Cool great, so loyalty is punished. Is anyone using a service to handle the retention call instead of doing it themselves?

I keep seeing “teeth in a day” everywhere and it sounds almost too good to be true. From what I’ve been reading, it seems like you do get teeth the same day, but they’re temporary while everything heals. Didn’t realize that part at first. Also saw that not everyone qualifies and it depends a lot on bone quality and how stable the implants are when placed. For anyone who’s actually gone through it, how was your experience? Did it feel solid right away or were you being extra careful during healing?

I’ve noticed an issue in some hybrid solar setups where charging and discharging don’t feel very smooth.

For example, when solar panels are producing power but the load is still higher than what the panels can supply, the system seems to switch the battery on and off in short cycles almost like it’s charging and discharging at the same time.

This seems to lead to inefficient battery cycling, slightly more wear on the battery over time, and sometimes a bit of system instability.

I’m curious if this is normal behavior or if some inverters handle it better than others. Are there systems that prioritize solar power more effectively before using the battery? Also, does using higher PV input voltage help reduce this issue, or is it more about how the inverter manages charging logic internally?

Dropper here, preparing for BITSAT.

Har 2–3 din me mock de raha hoon, but score literally stuck hai 150–160 ke range me. Kabhi 148, kabhi 162, but overall koi real jump nahi aa raha.

Main around 75–80 questions attempt karta hu, but accuracy bhi utni achhi nahi hai, roughly 60 to 65q ke aas paas rehti hai. Matlab attempt bhi theek-thaak hai but marks convert nahi ho rahe.

Mocks ka analysis bhi karta hu, mistakes likhta hu, weak topics revise karta hu, jo topics chhute hue the wo bhi cover kar raha hu. But next mock me phir wahi pattern repeat ho jata hai. Same silly mistakes, same accuracy issue, same score band.

Honestly ab thoda frustrating lag raha hai, because effort daal raha hu but output bilkul stagnant hai.

Background:

JEE Mains –91.4 percentile (general hu, toh koi decent option nahi mil raha)

Agar kisi ka score aise plateau pe stuck tha (150–170 range) aur tum log usse break kar paaye, toh please batao kya change kiya tha? Attempt strategy? Time management? Ya kuch aur?

Abhi genuinely lag raha hai ki bas grind kar raha hu but direction clear nahi hai. Any practical advice would really help.

Hi, I recently bought a 100" projector screen and I’m now looking for a good projector to pair with it. My room gets quite a bit of ambient light during the day, so I need something with strong brightness and clear image quality that can still look sharp in those conditions. I’ve been considering the Dangbei MP1 Max 4K Home Projector since it offers high brightness and 4K resolution, which seems ideal for my setup, but I’d love to hear if this is a solid choice or if there are better options I should look into.

I am doing research on what places to visit when I arrive in China. I am a bit old fashioned and I would love to read blogs about travelling experience, tips (do's and dont's) & the important cues to know when travelling to cultural-centered locations.

I’m looking to go beyond the typical tourist traps and really understand the local etiquette. If you know any writers who capture the vibe of a province or have personal advice on how to navigate traditional areas respectfully, please share.
