Xumo Box not working, swapped 3 times all have the same problem. Why can't they just make an app for android TV's?

Xumo box is not working. I have had about 3 replacements so far. All work for like a day and then they stop. They just turn off and do not turn on again. No amount of resetting or pressing buttons can get the software to properly load.

This is incredibly frustrating. I have missed so much TV because of it.

By not turn on, I mean the blinking light is still on, but there is nothing on the TV. It just keeps saying "no signal". On rare occasions I get to the home screen and it just says "hello" and does not respond to any other controls. So you can't click the middle button because it does nothing. I know the remote's batteries are not dead because the remote responds by turning on the TV and the light on the box is on.

Can we just get an app for android TV's already so I don't have to plug in extra boxes?

I have a roku too, but that just keeps coming up with an annoying "are you still watching the spectrum TV app" every single time I try to load the app. And I have to click off that and a few more buttons before I can get to the actual live TV section of the app. But this rarely if ever happens.

I have tried every combination of holding down the home button, the button on the bottom of the box.

Please tell me what is wrong here.

New WiFi 7 router/modem activation. Modem online, router won’t connect to modem.

Hi all! Moved into a new house and got a whole new set of equipment. The modem works and is online (blue lights and shows connected in my app). When activating the router won’t connect. Gets to about 50% then light goes red and says unable to connect. I’ve contacted an agent and they tried on their end and same thing happens.

I would rather not have to have someone come out as I do not have anymore work time to meet someone at the house in the middle of the day. I’ve done the reset button 15-20 second trick to no avail. Only thing I haven’t tried is a different Ethernet cable.

If I need to switch out the router I would prefer if they could ship me a new one instead of going to the store but agent told me they cant ship one lol. We still have another account connected at another address until we are fully moved in to the new one, but this is separate equipment so don’t think this would have anything to do with it.

Great customer service

Obviously, most people will post problems they've had here, and that's expected, but I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the great customer service Spectrum has.

You call, and you get through - agents are always friendly and helpful. I hope they keep it that way.

Invincible Wi-Fi options

So, I’ve been extremely tempted by Charter’s new invincible WiFi option for its 5G backup option, I have my own UPS to keep my router and modem up and Charter’s battery backup for my node tends to keep me online for roughly an hour during a power outage but for times when there’s an extended power outage or other issues with Charter’s network it would be nice to be able to keep my security cameras and other smart devices online. The thing is, I love my router (TP-Link BE900) and I’d rather not give it up. So my question is, is there an easy pass through option for Spectrum’s invincible router so it could essentially just pass the connection on to my router? Or am I SOL and should be looking into other options? My main thing is since I have Gig internet it would only be an additional $10/mo and haven’t been able to find many alternatives that reasonable! My router does have dual WAN options so I could set a fall over connection that way but like I said, the $10/mo is hard to beat!

Mesh WiFi

I have a spectrum router and modem. I’m adding the deco mesh system. Do I unplug the router and connect directly to the modem? Or bridge it? Thanks in advance

Internet crashes

So about a month ago, I started experiencing internet crashes (The modem and router since it's a combo) would crash. It'd drop only when playing games. It'd go offline and reconnect about 30 seconds and consistently reconnects around this amount of time. It was consistent-ish when the problem first started - few times that day when it started and only when playing a game.

I've done multiple virus scans (Probably a virus that could cause it), did a factory reset, etc. the day after the issue started. After I did all that, the problem seemingly went away.

I then experienced it this morning a few weeks later when playing a different game it didn't happen before on. I haven't called a tech yet but I wanted to hear if anyone else had issues recently. Also my PC is RIGHT next to the modem/router since it's connected via Ethernet. We've also had a very bad storm recently and a small flood and the internet was fine when playing games up until this morning.

The unit(s) haven't been changed out in a few years (4+) so that's a reason I'm inclined to believe it's a hardware issue. I don't experience internet lag, ping spikes etc. like at all, it would just crash and then reconnect shortly after.

Upload consistently higher than download...

Located in DFW area (north suburbs).

"Upgraded" to Spectrum Internet Gig from Spectrum Internet Ultra in February.

The situation since the upgrade is weird!

Before the upgrade:

  • Avg Download: ~650mbps
  • Avg Upload: ~600mbps

During the upgrade (they claim this was because they moved me to basic until the plan switched fully):

  • Avg Download: ~400mbps
  • Ave Upload: ~400mbps

After the upgrade:

  • Avg Download: ~450mbps
  • Avg Upload: ~850mbps

This is from a wired connection. I have reset this thing a thousand times, had Spectrum reset from their end and I can never get downloads as fast as before the "upgrade". I asked if I could go back to Ultra and they said I could not as they no longer offer that service.

I mean great that the upload is super fast but why is the download so much slower. I can't figure out what is going on here. It has to be some limit Spectrum is putting on place right?

There was no equipment change for this upgrade and talking to Spectrum in store they said there doesn't need to be (and in fact refused to give us any newer equipment).

Any ideas? I'm about ready to just cancel my service and go with Frontier since they offer Gig service for about the same cost and it seems to get better reviews.

Apple+ app on Spectrum

We’ve got Spectrum cable and internet. Have no problems watching the HBO app or any of the multitude of apps, except Apple+. It loads fine and even runs trailer and recaps, but as soon as you get to the actual program there is intermittent digital noise. We’ve uninstalled and re-installed the app. Turned off and unplugged the system, but nothing seems to work. Tried to set it to SD only, but it’s already on SD or the option doesn’t work.

Anyone have similar problems or have recommendations to get it working? Everything else works fine, just Apple+. Thanks in advance!

So what is spectrums response on the fact that international routers have been banned by the FCC?

I’ve been seeing more talk about the U.S. tightening rules on certain foreign-made routers for security reasons, and I’m curious how this actually plays out for regular users.

From what I understand, the Federal Communications Commission isn’t pulling existing routers out of homes, but it could affect what gets approved and sold going forward. A lot of consumer networking gear is made overseas, even from brands people assume are “U.S.-based,” so this could limit options over time.

If that happens, I could see prices going up and fewer choices in the lower-cost range. Most people already don’t buy their own routers and just use what their ISP gives them, so I’m wondering if this pushes even more people in that direction.

For companies like Charter Communications, does this end up being an advantage? If retail options get more limited or confusing, it seems like more customers would just stick with ISP-provided equipment.

I know there are tradeoffs too. ISPs still depend on global supply chains and might face higher costs or more regulation themselves. So it’s probably not as simple as “they win,” but it does feel like it could shift things a bit.

Curious if anyone here (especially people working in networking or at ISPs) thinks this actually changes anything long term, or if it’s being overhyped.

Network upgrade notifications

I'm not asking if this will be a high split or anything like that, I'm wondering if it is normal for them to give you a couple of day notice that you services will be down 8 to 10 hours? The following is what we got.

Spectrum: Network upgrade scheduled for 4/14. Your service and access to 911 with Spectrum Voice will be temporarily interrupted during 8-10 hour work windows.

Spectrum Upgrade Scheduled for 4/14
Hello (name removed),
To provide you with the fastest internet speeds and highest quality service, we will be upgrading the network in your area on 4/14.   Following the upgrade, you'll be able to get the most from your Spectrum Internet for the best streaming, gaming, file sharing and browsing experience.
Here's What You Can Expect:
•   Technicians normally perform upgrades at night, but we have identified that your area requires additional work. Therefore, our technicians will work both during the day and at night to expedite the process for you.   •   During the scheduled upgrade work, your service may be temporarily affected.   •   Provided time estimates for work completion may change. In some cases, the upgrade can be finished earlier than expected.   •   Access to 911 through Spectrum Voice will be temporarily unavailable during this maintenance window. Please be prepared with other options, such as a charged cell phone, in case of an emergency.   •   The upgrade will take place automatically, and your service will return when it is complete. No action is required by you.
You will receive another communication from us when the work begins.
