For as long as I've been old enough to understand the concept of being attractive or unattractive, I've hated the way I look. Some inexplicable thing about my face is just wrong, and it's become even worse in recent years since I lost a tooth, and all my hair has started to try and escape. The fact that I cannot remember ever receiving a single compliment about my appearance, and the almost complete absence of any dating or sexual experience, more or less confirms my suspicions.

Meanwhile, I'm forced to see on a daily basis how differently attractive people are treated in general, and how much easier life is for them.

In fact, now that I live by myself, I'm considering removing the bathroom mirror altogether and just having no mirrors in the place, so I don't have to see myself anymore.

I replaced that stupid little hinge part that causes the front part of the external door handle to come loose. Put everything back together, closed the door and all was well. Went to get in the car again today, and suddenly both the outside and inside handles aren't working. Obviously can't remove the interior trim to access the inner parts because the door is stuck shut. So now I'm going to spend the rest of my days clambering in from the passenger side like an undignified idiot.

Even though I don't have the right kind of finance-brain to understand what actually happened in that movie, it doesn't really matter, because the performances (mainly Jeremy Irons, but also Paul Bettany, Kevin Spacey, Zachary Quinto) are so compelling.

Which other performances were so powerful with so little screen-time (and don't say Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs, it's too obvious)?
